Sorry, but both work on mine.
The 32 bit has to work on my 64 bit, because some websites can't handle 64 bit yet.
This is not relevant I have 32 bit machine and 64 bit programs do not work on it.

    Have a look at this:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/internet-explorer/slow-five-tips-to-boost-performance

and also other links on the page ie: add-ons

I ran the FixIt and no improvement. The fact that Microsoft have seen the need to issue a fix would indicate I am not the only one with an issue for IE9?

I have done a system restore to take me back to imediately before IE9 install and IE8 is working great.

Tried Google Chrome and it works well but I do not like the interface and hate the adverts.

I think I shall stick with IE8 for now. If it aint broke ..... I am just so pleased to get back to a stable system that works. I have Windows 7 and IE9 on my laptop and that works fine, but I see no benefit over IE8.

I may get round to trying Opera. What do you like about it?

everything ! :D its speed (blistering! )/ the interface (better than FF :p ) / the extensions load immediately / the fluidity of its rendering / its appearance - better than FF :p

    You've got your logic backwards.

32 bit stuff will work on 64 bit systems.

No I don't - read my post. 64 bit programs do not work on my 32 bit machine.

I use Chrome but don`t get any ads, think you can choose.

Now and again use IE9 without issues.
