Since updating to i.e.9 it takes 1 minute to connect to internet. Any ideas? Should I go back to i.e.8? PS: I don't like Google Chrome interface.
I use Windows Vista Windows firewall and Avast anti-virus.

IE9 Takes about 8 seconds on this Vista laptop (not that I use the rubbish, other than for Windows Updates).0

I don't think there should be any real difference in connection time between IE8 and IE9, and it should be a lot quicker than 1 minute.
Try changing your home page to something simple like Google, and make sure it's only opening one tab on startup.
Click the settings icon, and manage addons - see what you have installed, and maybe update the ones you need and disable the ones you don't.0 -

.
That is what I do not understand. Nothing else changed. My home page is the same as with i.e.8 = hotmail
Time to try a.n.other browsers, I guess.:("A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I think I would ditch avast and vista firewall and install Windows Essentials anti virus and firewall.0

I don't think it's IE9.... it made no difference on my computer when I updated.
There are two versions of IE. One 32 bit, and one 64 bit. Could you have the wrong one?0 -
I thought there might be a conflict between Avast and IE9. When I disable Avast there is still a dreadful lag to load pages. I feel inclined to bin IE9. Choice is whether to go back to IE8 or switch to a.n.other browser.
AFIK, a 32 bit version would not work on a 64 bit machine and vice versa."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Sorry, but both work on mine.
The 32 bit has to work on my 64 bit, because some websites can't handle 64 bit yet.0 -
It not the websites themselves that can't handle 64bit its that they use 3rd party plugins like adobe flash which until recently wasn't available as 64bit.0
