I had just got one of these SIM's. Still good rates but I would have liked more notice. Also, I got charged 9p for receiving the text message from them. Is that normal?

Being charged for receiving text messages is NOT normal.

Also, these prices are only guaranteed until the end of the month.

Their T&Cc state it is free to receive a text message whilst in the UK, but do also state that changes to charging can occur at any time (no notice required). Something to be aware of. Do not make larger than necessary top ups with these people.

Their website still flashes "call the world from 1p " but I can't find any 1p destinations now. India is now 2p (it was 1p) , USA is 3p, like most of Europe. Perhaps somewhere obscure is still 1p a minute but I haven't notice where yet.

These price rises are very soon after icard's inception, and their website again states that prices are valid until the end of the month - so it could be all-change again in a few weeks.

Perhaps they have limited funds with which to subsidise these rates, so the more customers they get, the shorter-lived the really low prices will be. Nevertheless, good value whilst it is available. Don't think it will be for long though.

Hi, has anyone managed to get an icard top up from a high street retailer? I visited three local retailers listed on the icard website but none had heard of icard - so no top up!

Phoned their customer services - he was just not interested and just kept repeating info from the website.

I haven't got a credit card to buy a top up online so I'm stuck.

It's not looking good for icard!

Thanks, Paul. I've finally found a retailer. It looks like the icard website lists Payzone retailers rather than the Paypoint retailers that actually sell the vouchers.
  • I've been using icard mobile for the past month, got mine from digicallingcards. They sent the sim for free and provide the topup vouchers online.
