Mikey is right. The seller has a duty to get the item to the buyer within the timeframe, if they fail, it is not the carrier, but the seller at fault. It may well be Royal Mail causing the problem ,but the buyer has a contract with the seller, not the carrier.

Based on that logic, the only way to guarantee a delivery within the timeframes would be to personally deliver items.

As hermum states, the DSR rating should be based on the length of time it takes to despatch the item.

Or use a courier that gurantees delivery within 24/48 hours like I do. Guess what, 4.9 on my dsr's too......

Great for expensive items, but when you are selling £1.99 items, the buyer is never going to pay more than a first class stamp, and yes, I have 4.9 too

so what? every seller is different, what you are saying will make sense for some sellers, but not others.

if a big seller takes a week and a half to deliver something and takes 4-5 days to dispatch or 7 days i waited sometimes when says is sooner i think 2 stars is acceptable, some mange to get my items to me in a few days so i think this area of business is most important quick delivery so I do leave 2 stars if takes ages. I have been lax before on postage and i think is fair game if they decide to give a lower star.

    "so what?"..........

No need to get arsey, this thread is after all about you and your failings as a seller hence you trawling through reports to identify a justified low rating and then making up lies to the buyer to confirm it.

There was no mention of it being a "stamp value" item in the post I replied to, just that it was sent first class. Depending on the weight you can get couriers guaranteed for cheaper than RM first class.

Just carry on trwaling through your reports and blocking buyers, you know best.

The response was because of the tone of you post, showing off how good you are instead of giving advice is not very helpful. What you do may be great for you, but does not apply to every buyer, so I could not see the point of your post.

I think you are the one who thinks knows best. I came here for advice, if I thought I knew it all I wouldn't have.
As far as my 'failings' are concerned, once again you think you know, when you actually don't have a clue.
Going through reports and (very occasionally) blocking buyers is part of MAINTAINING high performance, not trying to cover up bad service.
My account is nearly perfect, a part from a couple of low stars, and within TRS criteria, so when you try to accuse me of being a bad seller I can only laugh.

Without wanting to get into an internet war. It was not only me who questioned why you would block a buyer who has done nothing wrong, you did say the low dsr was justified, or did I/We miss something.

Again with regards to me not having a clue. I havent been hit on low dsrs, If I was I wouldnt lie to the aggrieved customer and I'm not blocking customers with justified gripes. Is that not having a clue?

I'm not criticising your practices, as they obviously work for you. And I did not post to ask people's opinions about mine. My OP was very clear about what I was asking, anything else is people expressing an opinion without having all the facts.

I know you were not the only one, but by the time you posted I got a bit fed up with the tone of many of the replies.
And the post I criticised sounded very much like showing you are better then other people because you use a couriers, while it may not be a valid option for everyone.
    in a nutshell....

It's annoying when you ask a specific question, and don't mind having a discussion around the issue, and the thread is highjacked by people just wanting to show off, proving they are better sellers than anyone else (general comment, not aimed specifically at you JPS).

What do you expect people to say?

You blocked a bidder cos they gave you low stars for something you admit they were in the right "Their reasons for not being happy are 100% genuine"

"I've currently blocked this buyer, but I'd like to reply letting them know the damage their ratings could do"

Maybe you should take abit more responsibility for your own actions rather than sneaking around to check whose left deserved low stars, making up false identities to contact them , then coming on here hoping people will be able to help you find some scam of removing those justified low stars.
