  • Actually, at the bottom of the receipt, you'll find the following:

date time store number till number(?) operator number tranaction number.

    so:

    13/12/06 14:23 3653 007 2003 2536

In other words, the CSD doesn't need your CC number when you go to get a refund, as the transaction number is on the receipt. If they pull up the transaction, they can get your CC number, along with your personal details and stuff you've bought in that specific store.

Well that explains it then. Cheers everyone else who answered as well. Im not exactly a regular r&r-er but in future I shall omit my clubcard. Seems safer.
  • Will be added to tomorrow's e-mail - Thanks for the heads up.

Go away TE, we don't like your sort....

T's employees are fine, just not glib jobsworths ....
  • In regards to the didilogic tv's..there are 2 barcodes on these..the one that I got scanned today was the small one bottom right in the corner and not the larger on the bottom middle edge...I don't know if there would be 2 different prices depending on which one was scanned. The CSA noticed this as the barcode didnt match my receipt.
    £900 towards next holiday...ta very much Mr T x

Yeah when I phoned up HO to complain that the store manager was refusing me an R&R, they asked for the 4 digit code from the bottom of the receipt.

From that, they knew exactly the transaction and called me back 15 mins later to say that my CC would be refunded, no need to go back to the store.
(so the store manager obviously had a lot of clout!)

Left the door wide open for a golden R&R too ...

Personnally I quite enjoy reading the opinion of TE. Its interesting reading what the "Dark Side" think and having healthy debate, though a few less tetchy remarks would probably be more appreciated by some.

I would still like to hear TE's opinion of what happened to BigJohnnyB. Surely you cannot condone this behavour. I understand your disdain for deliberate r&r-ers as you believe they are abusing the system but this policy is to protect customers and treating them as badly as BigJohnnyB's partner was is not accebtable.

Sorry, yes I can see you've been quite helpful.

Do they pay you to read this thread when you get home?

Or is it a hobby as well as a job?

No just very effective in preventing serial r+r'ers:beer:

  • As a newbie, let me get this right before I go for my first:
If I see something... say, a portable DVD player with a yellow SEL that expired a week ago and no other prices relating to it on the shelf, is that likely to be a decent r&r if I can find a scanner?
Does it not matter that the SEL says the price has expired?
Sorry for the thick newbie question...
Motorway driver? Don't hog Lane 2 for no reason - there's a good chap.
