  • I guess that works id much prefer to think id dealt with a genuine 'case' rather than the customer to tell me they got their information from here - That only puts my back up and makes me want to ensure you have as much difficulty in obtaining an r+r in the future as possible - That may sound blunt but again thats just my view so sorry if it seems harsh.
As stated in a previous post, I think this is where the stores are going wrong. As you and I both know, a lot of the problems are caused by HO. Firstly, HO expects its staff to perform miracles - prices changing every day, POS going up and down, mistakes by the IT dept., etc, etc. However, rather than focus on the cause on the problem, (i.e. HO), stores are turning their attention onto customers (be they genuine or otherwise). This is the wrong way to go about rectifying the issues. It shouldn't matter if the customer is genuine or otherwise, as Tesco is the one committing a criminal offence by giving misleading price indications. Stores should honour the policy regardless of the genuineness of the customer. If a customer spots a possible mistake, they should be allowed to take advantage of Tesco's policy. If a customer tells you that they were aware of the error before buying the item, it shouldn't make you hostile towards the customer. If anything, HO's incompetence should be the subject of your anger. Never take it out on the customer, as they've been the victim of a criminal offence, with the store being the perpetrator. If all stores took this attitude, HO would soon start to take the issue of misleading price indications more seriously. At the end of the day, most people on this thread want Tesco to trade within the Law. This means the focus should be on getting the prices right in the first place. Stop wasting your time, manpower, resources and energy on customers you believe to be taking the !!!! and focus on the real issue - Tesco HO's incompetence and inability to get their prices right.

I know you disagree with me on this, but it may be the only way to actually get the problem dealt with in a realistic way without !!!!ing off too many customers.

I have finally figured out why you were so hostile when you first started posting here. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that you were mentioned/described in a poor light in a post by an R&Rer describing an incident in store. This brought you to the thread and caused you to post, as you felt unjustly attacked. I can understand your hostility if all was not as described by said poster. However, a lot of us have intelligence enough to know that there is more than one side to any story. You may feel that people who purposely seek out misprices are no better than shoplifters. However, if you look at it from the other side of the fence, those people are not actually breaking any law. Tesco is breaking the law every time it gives a misleading price indication, or no price indication at all. You cannot blame people for taking advantage of Tesco's policy, especially when said policy is there to keep TS at bay and to give consumers confidence in Tesco's price integrity. You and I both know that Tesco takes advantage whenever possible. R&Rers are merely playing the game by the rules laid down by Tesco Stores Ltd.

Glad to hear you are one of the best stores at keeping R+R down (which must mean you are one of the better stores at charging the right price and therfore to be applauded). To be honest i thought that would be Constantines store but I know he likes to keep his location secret which is understandable :)

Anyway, if you ever need an independant verification of exactly how good your store is, just post the location or address on here and I am sure someone local to you could pop by and check you out :)

But notice how he said "for over six months" meaning that budget has now probably been cut again and its back up to the usual figures for R&R

  • I'm after some advice please, yesterday I bought four packs of 800g lean steak mince SEL £3.99kg/£3.19 pack, the price on the pack was £3.48.Went to CS and after he had spoken to the duty manager I was told I couldn't have an r+r as the SEL was only a guide as the item was individually priced???

all weighed products are individually packed and priced according to weight
if you have paid more per kg than what was priced on the sel then you have been overcharged

If the SEL says £3.99/Kg and you paid £3.48 for 800g you were overcharged, cut and dry overcharge, saying the SEL is a guide is rubbish, go back and ask for the R&R or if you dont want to raise your profile at the store, just report them to Trading standards telling them they are charging more than the advertised price per kilo.

TS will be very interested to hear the "SEL is a guide price" BS!! ;)
