    Hi all

I'm new to the slimming world programme. I can't afford classes but quite often buy the magazine. :o A lot of people at my voluntary job are following the plan and one has lost so much weight she looks amazing so I know I'll have the support there and will be able to join in with the recipe swapping at lunch times :rotfl: I've bought the plan from ebay on CD (only £3 :money:) and it arrived this morning so I'm going to spend this weekend getting my head around it and trying to plan meals for next week.

I really need to do this, I'm 5ft 6" and 17st 10lbs last time I got weighed  Doctor said I need to get down to about 12 stone but it just doesn't seem to be happening with my current efforts of cutting back. I'm too unfit to go to the gym or something to exercise ATM, even walking up the stairs at work makes me out of breath :o I have a wii so will be using that to try and boost my activity levels.

I'll weigh in properly Monday morning and start officially then as I know I'm going to have to go shopping tomorrow for fruit just from reading a few posts here. :rotfl: Here's hoping this time I manage to get below 14st! ;)

Welcome Nicki! I've only recently started with SW and on here and they're a fab bunch, really supportive! Perhaps if you say what your favourite foods are, we can suggest things that you might be able to have so you don't feel you're missing out to much. if you're stocking up, free foods like rice, pasta, (plain or the Batchelors flavoured ones) are good, as are Mullerlights. You'll probably want to get some brown bread in too. One of the 400g ones with smaller slices, or some small wholemeal rolls. But you're right about the fruit. If you can fill up on that for the first week it'll help loads and makes it easier to stick with the plan.

    Good luck!

I've just weighed in and have managed to gain 1lb. I was dead good all week other than the nightmare that was yesterday, and last week I only lost 1lb and now I've put it on again. I don't think I've got a chance of hitting my 5 June target of 13 stone 7 as I'm stuck at 14st 4 now. Meh.
Anyway, no plan for today other than weetabix and milk for breakfast, I'll make a plan later for the week and go and do a big healthy shop. I may try and EE day.....

Oh, and MrsM, I'm worried about you, you haven't got anything tickled on your menu...everything ok??!!!

Ok maybe it's my scales. I just weighed again and it showed a 1lb loss. I'm very confused, but think I'll go with the 2nd reading, for obvious reasons.
Can anyone recommend a really good set of bathroom scales that aren't too expensive?!!
    Happy Saturday xx

Hello ladies (and any men if there are any here!),

Being too MSE to attend classes, I only have the info on a disc from ebay, and this weekend am starting to plan my meals for a week or so in order to help me stick to it (actually starting after next week, as we are on holiday next week and not sure of the availablility of all the food I will need).

Anyway, one thing I wanted to ask, has just been mentioned...

I am quite a fan of the Batchelors 'Pasta n Sauce' - Cheese and Broccolli normally - when I am in no mood to prepare a dinner for myself. I assumed because of the flavourings or something that these contain syns, does anyone know how many? Or because of the pasta, are they free on a green day? I could make it without the 250ml milk if it makes it any better.

Also, I have a craving for Mini Cheddars at the moment, how many syns are in a packet of these, does anyone know? I can't find them in my list of syn values for all other foods.

Good to hear that MrDizzy's coping. Coincidentally, I made my first oxburgers last night, yum! yum! Thanks MrsM.:)

Had a bit of an off day yesterday as DH wanted to go out and we stopped for a snacky lunch in a pub. I had potato skins with bacon and cheese, not much else was suitable. I'm counting the cheese as my HEA as I only had a few splashes of milk all day AND I'm going to try to be good for the rest of the week!

    Today's EE menu:

B: NAS squash, HEB Puffed Wheat with strawberries and HEA milk.
L: ham, beetroot, cornichons and maybe a small jacket
D: SW curry (with xtra veg in), Batchelors pilau and SW chips
Snacks & Syns: fruit to keep up the SF and Sancerre

Just noticed this scotrae and wanted to check that you meant WW Brown Danish. If not, it'll need to be a small wholemeal loaf as I don't think ordinary brown counts as a HEB.

    Welcome to the thread nicki.

    Last year i was like you - fed up - 17 stone 9and a half - and 5'4"!

I have lost half a pound short of 3 stone so far - and once I got my head round it it has come off consistently!

What do I appreciate so far? Being a size 18 is fab (so much better than a size 24!)

But really it's being able to run up the stairs and get out of the bath!

If you have any problems ask - just remember Rome wasn't built in a day! But if you stick to it - you will lose!

Well after my rotten day yesterday and craving chocolate, ive woke up today feeling much better and had my usual bowl of berries for breakfast with muller light. Think Im going with friends to a turkish restaurant for lunch......so god knows what that will bring to eat, but im determined to make the right choices, and got slimming world spag bol for my tea, with my sw mince from the local butchers. No alcohol again this week, thats 6 weeks now and I cant say Ive missed it to be honest, or the groggy head the next day.
    Have a good weekend all.
