On the subject of family sabotage - Years ago when I did s.w. with several family members, my step-daughter kept putting on a lb or 2 and accused me of adding butter, cream, cheese etc to her meals and no one elses, she even stood up in class and said this - I was mortified at the time. We even got to the stage where I served meals up and told her to pick which ever plate she wanted. She would come home from class almost suicidal, crying and ranting every week. We told her if it was upsetting her that much to stop going as she was really letting it upset her.
Her 1 - 2lb weight gain every week ended up being a 9llb 13oz boy :eek:it was a few months before I realised where the weight was coming from and even longer for her to realise I was right.
Today is EE day -
B - Yogurt and grapes
L - French onion soup (0.5 syn) Ryvita and ham with some salad.
T - Fish and new potatoes with salad salad
Milk for drinks and ryvitas are A&B's and snacks will be fruit and yogurt.
Will have some syns as well but not sure what yet.
Can anyone tell me how many syns Batchelors low fat condensed mushroom soup is made up with half water and half milk - the 295g size.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Aghhhh, please help! We went to Beefeater for a work lunch today and I ordered steak, jacket potato, grilled mushroom and tomato - but I got chips. We were pushed for time and I didn't want to cause a fuss so I ate the chips thinking it would be fie as I hadn't had any other syns today and only 5 yesterday and the day before.
I've been trawling the net to see if I can syn them and came across a post where someone says allow about 20 syns for the chips. Really? Does anyone have any idea how I can syn them without knowing the weight?
SK x
Hiya,
Can anyone help me with this above???
Also, what are flexible syns? I'm a web member but I can't find anywhere on the site it advises on these.
So, after yesterdays disastertodays menu will be:
B - Chopped strawberries, melon, apple and pineapple (free)
L - Nasi Goreng (from SW recipes) (free)
Plain fat free yoghurt & Banana (free)
D - Something with Pork - Probably vindaloo and rice (free)
Drinks: Water and decaff tea with milk (HEA)
Will probably use my HEB as olive oil in the curry instead of fry lite.
I weighed in on Monday and lost 1.5lbs in my first week which I was slightly disappointed with but I was a day short after joining on Monday evening but it counted Monday as a full day. I obviously wasn't following as I didn't know what to do!
I'm hoping yesterdays syns will balance out with the fact that the 2 days before, I was onyl on 5 syns each day and today will be syn free.
SK xAfter 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j
And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!0 -

Hi,
just been looking and i think they would prob have been around 15 syns - not knowing the weight, but guessing an average portion size.
Im not a SW vetron, but from what i gather, flexi syns are just that! If you overeat on syns one day then compensate by cutting down over the next few. I think its meant to encourage you not to just think sod it if youve been a little naughty! but carry on being extra good for a few days.
Hope that helps.
WI tonight not feeling good about this week although ive been fairly good - prob not enough superfree, but not gone over syns either so we shall see!0 -
Hello everyone, well done on the losses :T i'm 8.5 lb down now in 6 weeks, it's taken a while but i'd rather not feel deprived and take a while to lose than eat salad everyday!
Brians daughter, did your MIL used to send treats round before you started SW? i find it very odd that she thinks she can be so blatant about sabotaging you!! People are sometimes very strange.. i always like to try and see the best in people but i really don't know how she can't see what she's doing... so she can't blame ignorance!! blooming MIL's!!!
Todays green day
B - apple, yogurt, choc weetabix (half) 2
L - left over BNS chilli and new potatoes baked
T - pasta enchiladaes (HEB, HEA) salad, 2 ryvita Fruit crunch (HEB)
S - milk in tea 1, orange, apple, crisps 4
SexKi11en, there's nothing on the SW website for beefeater chips that I can see, but Wetherspoons - 8oz Gammon, egg chips and pineapple is only 15.5 syns so i can't see just the chips being 20 syns.
Billie-jo - the mushroom soup itself is 7syns, then add on syns for your milk i guess depending on how much you use. The full fat can is 16.5 syns:eek:
Right well i'm off to see if i can get through the afternoon without having chocolate! i have an emergency options sachet if needed.. fingers crossed...Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

I too have taken the slow weight loss over deprivationI have in the last few weeks got 'in the zone' though and have been more than happy to cut back to get a better loss, i am sure i will (soon enough) go back to my original plan! IMO the fewer changes and the slower you make them equals a successful loss that stays off! I have too may times lost a few stone and 2 years later been back to square one
re MIL, she did occassionally send thinsg round if there was a BOGOF on and she had one going spare,(in the past 2-3 weeks i have had 'gifts' of ice cream, cheesecake, easteer eggs (never bought me an egg in the 10 years i have been with oh!) a bottle of baileys and i am sure theres otehr stuff too i cant recall! but they are on sw too and she doesnt eat sweet stuff anyway, so goodness only knows whats going on in her head atm!
On a plus note my neighbours now love us so much hes painting the fence on their side and has also popped round to ask would we mind if he did our side too later this afternoon as it will preserve it longer if both sides are done at the same time! Guess its the MILs unwanted gifts paying off as i tend to give them to next door lol :j:j:j
well done to the loosers so far this week0 -

Is it?!? whooo! I love this at the local spoons, i have been steering clear but i may just decide to go soon. I will have to save some syns tho or i wont have enough for wine0 -

MIL comes to SW with me and if i loose more than her she really gets annoyed! I want her to loose as she wants to loose, but if she looses more than me i am still happy for her, her weight loss doesnt effect mine iykwim? Anyway, these last 2 weeks shes been 'sending treats round' 2 or 3 times a week that shes bought whilst out shopping, both MIL and FIL are on the plan, so shes no need to buy them. Things i love too like ben and jerrys (nom nom nom)
She says they are for the children but seeing as the 2 eldest have dairy allergies (which she is well aware of and has been for many years) and dd isnt yet weaned, so its a poor excuse! Last night she sent FIL round with a new york cheesecake that was 'on offer' Now, the kids cant eat it, my hubby doesnt 'do' sweet stuff so that leaves meI actually sent it back round with him and she made him bring it back (?) so i gave it to next door lol.
I might even be tempted to take the treats and put them directly into the bin. Why give you something. Is she getting them on bogof and giving you half so she doesn't have them in the house.
My sabotager-meter is sky high with your MIL. Of course she is out to sabotage you. Ever so common *big sigh*
.
:eek: Shame on you missy!!!! this is MSE :money::money::rotfl::rotfl:
Giving them to the neighbour is a much better Idea......If she really WONT accept no for an answer
On a serious note...... BD's Post smacks of something my lovely (but utterly infuriating mum) would do  whenever she has known that I've been 'trying' (and I say this in the loosest sense) to diet before - she would send me home with all sorts of BOGOFS from her Tesco Or Asda deliveriessaying "well it wont fit in my freezer/fridge" or in the case of biccys/cakes....."oh but I only got them because I thought you liked them, I'll never be able to eat these" :wall: I think secretly she just didnt really want me to lose weight for whatever reason?? maybe because she comfort eats with her illness I'm not sure?
I've only got away with it this time because she knows my cholesterol was shockingly high & the Doc told me I needed to lose weight and watch what I ate ( and he visits mum at home a lot with her having cancer so she won't go against what he says)

Flexible Syns is where you set an upper limit of syns (say 40) to enjoy an event.
You still count your syns, and as soon as you hit your upper limit you stop. This is so you can enjoy a special night, without going crazy so you are less likely to turn a one night 'off plan' into a 2 day unhealthy binge.
Official SW FAQ:
Q: What are flexible Syns?
A: There’s plenty of evidence that allowing yourself to be a little more flexible when you need to is the key to long-term success. Flexible Syns are the ‘safety valve’ you can use when you feel that otherwise you might just give in and lose control completely. And what a relief! Never again will you be able to accuse yourself of ‘blowing it’ just because you needed a few more Syns on the odd day or two. The difference to your self-esteem will be monumental – and you’ll have unlocked the key to your slimming success – for good! Hi everyone! Hope you don't mind me joining in with your group? I'm 24, have 3 children and need to do something with myself. Before my first daughter I was a size 8, went up to a 12 after i'd had her, went up to a 14 and then down to a 12 after my son but after having our final baby, a little girl I am now a size 16
This is the biggest i've ever been and i've had to buy new clothes as my old ones no longer fit me. I look at my size 12 tops and they appear like my 8 year old would fit in them - god knows how I ever did! Ideally i'd like to loose 4 stone.
I'm bursting out of my work trousers and they only ordered those for me a couple of months ago and I felt embarrassed enough asking for a 16, to ask for an 18 would make me suicidal! I also used to do a lot of glamour modelling, mainly as a hobby but also had a fair bit of paid work including promo work for car shows etc. Looking at those pictures now makes me wonder how I ever thought I was overweight then and how much i'd love to be like that now.
I've taken the first step and purchased the SW guide books from ebay (someone who only went once!). I don't actually want to go to meetings as I suffer with anxiety and it would be very uncomfortable for me being there, yet I don't want to pay huge amounts subscribing to the SW website either. I own a Wii Fit and have recently purchased Zumba Fitness (if you don't have it yet you should!) and hope that doing these daily will help with my loss. I've also started running every other day at night so no-one can see me!
Although i've read the books a million times over I can't seem to get my head around working it out. I want the easiest plan there is to follow but I don't understand how I choose what to eat and what the milk allowance is along with the HE's?
