    Howdee Doodee Folks!!

Yes I'm back again. Very long, very boring story but suffice to say I CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO 'GO IT ALONE'!!

Nice to see some of the familiar face still around. Consultant31 with her ever sensible advice, Dizzy with her crazy, windy ways and erratic tank driving ( If she mentions rocky horrors when she sees that I've posted, don't believe a word she says, it's all lies, lol ;)). Wootball and his 'tell it like it is' approach ( I wish I could be a bit more like that) I also see Mrs M has gone from strength to strength in my absence, she's absolutely amazing ( I'd definitely like to be more like that!!). And lots of others, Betty, Blackberry, takeiteasy etc.
It's taken me ages to catchup on this thread and to pluck up courage to post but I'm so glad I did, I don't feel anywhere near as bad about my gains now and feel inspired to knuckle down and get this sorted. I'd like to say that I plan to post daily .......well I do plan to but if life gets in the way ............. Anyways onward and upward. I'm off to update my signature. I'll check in again soon. XX

Well done for getting the courage to post - we are still a friendly bunch!

    AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I'm not okay. I need to vent. Last year I was getting by financially by studying full time (only in college 2 days a week) and working 30 hours a week: 25 in job A and 5 in job b. I am a mature student with luckily no dependants, but I still have rent and bills to pay. I worked out I could afford to do this if I worked, and due to a long lasting injury it was either re-train or go on long term sick.

Hours in job A got cut. I coped. I broke my leg, and have been off work for 6 months. I am not elligible for income support because I am a student (even though I am working practically full time hours and wouldn't be able to live without that but oh no, I'm a student and therefore "unavailable" to work more than 16 hours(!!!!) so only able to get SSP. So I have been living off that, an overdraft, and help from my parents, who have been absolute saviours in all of this. Applied for hardship grant at college, who initially rejected and are now delaying beyond belief.

I'm signed back on as "may be fit to work". I checked with the doctor at the time, and this means that if employer and I decide I can't yet work, I should have SSP as normal until I can work, and that gradual return to work can be made and I get SSP for the days I'm not in work until I'm back up to my normal hours (advised by email and letter to be 25 hours. Not sure if its contractual or not). Fab.

Not so. Job b. says they don't need me back yet. Reading between the lines I think they are trying to save some money, and they're not very busy at the moment, but the fact is if I hadn't gone off and broken my leg I'd have cost them my wages every week for the last 6 months and still be working now/ongoing, unless they made me redundant. I have no idea but a suspicion that they could do that without bother since I am only 5 hours with them.

Job a operate in shifts, and only have one manager who can organise SSP and shifts for me. Spoke to her yesterday, and got told because "I'm signed back on" I stopped getting SSP at the beginning of May as I'm "not entitled to it any more" and that it'll be another 2 weeks before I can have some shifts. After further discussion (read: begging) she said I could have some shifts this week. She is now off until Friday and has not allocated me any shifts, and is the only person who deals with either.

Its just the final straw which broke the camel's back. Seems I fall through EVERY conceivable loophole to get financial assistance while I'm off work sick, despite years of regular Tax and NI contributions and the hardship fund at college which part of MY tuition fees (i'm not entitled to a student loan or any government assistance for this degree, so I pay the full tuition fees myself) contribute to the pot of, I'm not actually elligible for when I'm in dire need of it, and now I'm fit to work but one job won't take me back yet (if at all?) and the other is taking me back but goodness knows if and when I'll get anywhere like enough shifts.

    :mad::mad::mad:

Sorry for the completely off topic rant, feel free to ignore, I'm just so at the end of my tether and don't want to complain on facebook or anywhere where colleagues etc are for fear of making the whole situation worse. :(

Thanks Nessie. Yes I know I CAN DO IT but in a way that makes it worse, because if I can do it then why don't I just get on with it instead of messing about the way I have been, I know exactly What to do, what I can/can't eat, when my danger times are etc. but I still do it all wrong sometimes, even though I know it's wrong, give me strength.

I just read that back and it doesn't make a lot of sense but hopefully you get what I mean!

Skintslimmer, I just read your post and I feel for you. The benefits system only really seems to help those that want to sit around all day and do b*gger all. When someone genuinely needs a helping hand nothing ( or next to nothing) available. I'm sure someone will be along to give some sound advice, I'm no expert in these things, but just wanted you to know someone has heard your cry. Chin up hun XX

I dont know how Id cope with a gain, I suppose we all have to cross that bridge sometime. Like you say its your first one im sure itl be your last.

I almost ALWAYS have a gain when its *week no matter how good I've been  its as regular as clockwork in my stats....but thats the joys of being a woman huh :o and I know that the following week I usually have a bit of a better loss to make up for it. (still damn annoying though at the time:rotfl:)

    Hi Everyone

I'm back too :j. Kind of fell off the wagon but only my legs were dragging along behind, my arms were still firmly fixed to the back bumper . Have had a holiday and lots of extra hours at work since I last posted but not too much damage done, 5lb (which was mostly liquid-feed on our AI holiday :p).

So, today is day 1 (again ), I've got to lose this holiday weight and get to my target (which I'm not entirely sure of yet).

I've been a good girl and gone to the gym this morning and I'm writing everything down that I eat (again  - getting to be a bit of a habit this 'again' word :rotfl:).

    Red day today:

B - 42g Alpen (HEB), Milk (HEA), Banana
L - 2 fillets smoked haddock, 2 poached eggs, tom ketchup (1 syn) Apple and grapes
D - Chicken fillet, roasted new baby potatoes (HEB), brocolli, carrots, cabbage

Snacks - HEA (prob cheese), pear, mullerlight

Please feel free to give my rather large behind and good kick if I keep forgetting to come on here for help and support from all you lovely people :D

Have been looking through old sw magazines last night and now I am remembering all the great food you CAN have where as on other meal plans all you can think about is the great food you CANT have.

Today is a RED day for me but hubby is having an EE- (he is having rice and prawns for lunch.

    B- orange, kiwi, grapefruit, grapes.
L - 1 rd wm bread (1HEB) with ham, lettuce, cucumber, radish, onions and tomatoes. Apple
T - spaghetti bolognaise with loads of veg in and served with salad. the pasta will be the second HEB.
HEA is milk for teas and have another HEA to think of. Snacks will be yogurt and fruit.
Syns will be a drink tonight as off out for an hour.

Am making some french onion soup as well and apart from 1 tsp butter it is free. It will make enough for 3 so will syn it at 0.5 per serving (hope this is right)

  • Hi Everyone, I've been on here before (ages ago) but fell off the wagon big time. I now feel I am in the right frame of mind and re-joined the local class last night. I have about 3 stones to lose and have signed up for a 6 week membership to start with. I am going to be religious about my food diary as this is where I went wrong before and "forgot" to add things. Zumba tonight and lots of walking - first goal is a stone by the end of June (my birthday). There are loads of good ideas for food here, here's to the first stone!
