DKAM: you could stick with the new potatoes and add loads of chick peas, chopped onion or spring onion, other tasty raw or cooked cold vegetables, bit of dressing of some kind, and take loads of fruit along as well. The chickpeas and potatoes will at least fill you up. Some chicken in there would help too unless you are vegetarian of course.

I didn't enjoy the tattie salad last time, think it's because they were cold! :o

I'd definitely make a big pasta salad. I like red kidney beans in mine (cheap and filling) as well as tuna, salad bits etc but maybe you don't like those. You could also have a sandwich if you don't use your HEBs at breakfast time. That plus fruit and you could be eating all day!:rotfl:Oh, and if it's practcal I'd take a flask of coffee, sometimes you get fed up of all cold food.

we had our picnic evening this week - someone brought in chick pea bhajis - they were syn free on green and EE and they were stunning!

I should have the recipe next week.....

Hope this one helps till you get the other :)
    Onion Bahjis with Raita dip

8oz stiff mashed potato (you can use Smash)
    400g tin Chickpeas
    2 thinly sliced onions
    Salt & black pepper
Approx 2 tblspns curry powder (or to taste)
    1 tspn mixed herbs
    1 beaten egg
    Fry Light

    Heat oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6

Fry onions in fry light until soft.
Drain and rinse Chickpeas and mash well.
Add potatoes, onions, curry powder and seasonings.
    Mix together with beaten egg

Spray large baking tray with fry light
Put tablespoon sized 'balls' of mix on tray & squash slightly.
    Spray Bahjis with fry light
Cook for approx 15 to 20 mins, until golden brown

    Raita

    1 small onion chopped
Cherry or tomatoes cut into chunks
    Diced cucumber
100g pot Fat free natural yoghurt
1 tspn sugar free mint sauce concentrate
    Pinch salt

Mix all ingredients together to make a dip for the Bahjis
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    1. finding a maggot (still alive) on the GF grill when doing breakfast yesterday, binned breakfast
    2. realised hadn't cooked egg yet so popped into microwave on half power x 1.5 mins. Except I put it onto 10.5 mins. Explosion.
    3. today did similar thing when warming up my coffee at breakfast = roiling boiling coffee.
    4. said wd do neighbour's ironing, she pays me £10 has done for years, while inflation has happened in real life and her pile of ironing gets bigger and more boring. They didn't bring it round til 6.30 by which time I was GRUMPY. Did it in a bad humour and....
    5. as a treat (treat?) went to co-op for food and got 3 indian dishes totalling approx 600 cals, heated half and ate. TASTELESS.
    6. So now having a glass of wine to recompense for tasteless supper.

I could cry at my stupid life sometimes and it's not as if it's terrible things is it :rotfl: I think I need to get out more.

I'm really sorry Blackberry, but this tale of woe made me laugh out loud. It's just the sort of things that happen to me :rotfl:

I'm with the others - don't punish yourself so much. I firmly believe that our bodies tell us when they're where they want to be weight wise and when you come to a 'natural-for-you' weight you should stop.

Excellent news on the shiny award Dizzy - well done you :T

Welcome Northern Star - I don't use sweetener myself but I've been told Splenda is good, especially for cooking with :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
