    :(:(:( 4lbs on at WI today:(:(:(

    I suppose that's not too bad for a 10 day holiday but.......

    Feeling very motivated to get it off (and more) ASAP. I've got a fairly clear week with the exception of a meal with friends next Tuesday. I just know there'll be a home-made pudding but with luck she'll be pushed for time and just do strawberries!;)

    Today's EE menu:

    B: NAS squash, HEB Puffed Wheat, HEA milk and banana
    L: HM lentil and veg soup, huge apple
    D: liver, mash, carrots, cabbage, peas and onion 'gravy' (I've been happy with just thin stock lately but might put a bit of cornflour in)
    Snacks: I've got a melon that needs to be eaten so may have half of that and/or finish off the berries in freezer with yogurt

    Off to sort next week's meal plan/shopping list.

    I'm on strike today (teacher) and my school is shut and its INSET day tomorrow - but even though I'm not getting paid today I have spent the whole day working on new stuff for the new science GCSE starting in Sept - no picket lines for me, just no pay!

    As a result of being out of my routine I'm having a faffy day with food ...

    Breakfast - Fibreplus bar (B choice)
    Lunch - massive bowl of strawberries and raspberries, reduced fat houmous (B choice), mini breadsticks (4 syns), satsuma
    Snack - few nuts (extra B choice for maintaining)
    Tea - thinking of Asda chickpea dahl and rice - don't really fancy anything except rubbish so will force myself into the kitchen.......

    So that's 3 B choices, 4 syns , no A choices so far
    May have some crisps as syns later

    Thanks for all the advice about non-meat protein. The cashew nuts stood out as a good idea as i often eat veggies done in frylight with cous cous or pasta for dinner, so would be easy to add in. I like eggs and so will try to have those and fish reasonably often too.

    I have never eaten quinoa, i dont even think i know what it is?? I am not experienced with the quorn products, the last time i tried it it was a bit like eating mushy-nothingness, but maybe some of the new flavoured products are better!

    I bought some granola yesterday from waitrose (couldnt resist) but its not on the syn calculator. So i put it in the calculator and it come out at 39.5 syns per 40g portion. Surely thats not right?! Bog standard granola seems to be about 6syns/28g. Here are the details, I'd appreciate it if someone could have a go who's better than me....

    Perfekt Ultimate Organic Granola

    Ingredients = oats (47%) seeds (18%) agave nectar (15%) nuts (12%) virgin rapeseed oil

    Nutrition per 100g
    KJ = 1978
    kcal = 474
    protein = 13.3g
    carbs = 40.6g (sugars = 14g)
    fat = 16.4g (saturated = 1.9g)
    fibre = 11.8g

    L: mushroom, tomatoes with 2 egg omlette

    Quinoa is a grain, you cook it like rice (although it doesn't take as long to cook) and then eat it in he same way you would have rice or couscous. It's got a nice nutty flavour and is cheap, and filling too!

    Green day for me as ever...
    scrambled eggs on toast (b)
    yogurt
    banana, apple, satsuma
    quinoa (!) with chickpeas, tomato and cucumber
    And for dinner I'm having a jacket potato with beans and cheese (a)
    so I've still got an a and a b and 15 syns to use.... there's a curly wirly with my name on in the fridge, and I think that'll do me for the day.

    Have a nice evening everyone!

    you could just cook your onion gravy a while longer until it thickens, maman, it's lovely that way. A little splash of red wine seems to help it along and can't be any more syns than the cornflour. Of course, I do mine in the mike, but I would give it (for one person)5 - 8 mins on medium to thicken up. And scrape down all the bits that have stuck to the side of the bowl as it reduces ... mmmm
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!
