  • Can anyone point me in the direction of good protein sources on green days please? I think I've mentioned before that I do quite a lot of exercise, and I've had some advice that to increase performance I need to eat more protein. The trouble is I am just not a bit meat fan... i can handle fish so often have tuna salad or something on an EE/red day. I've had chicken 2 days in a row now and could hardly chew my last mouthfuls last night, i just don't like it. There must be something else I can have? What do veggies eat? Tofu?

    Thanks in advance!

Dizzy I often find that eating meat bungs me up (yet another reason i should be a veggi i think!)... I know thats probably not very helpful as you're on a red day, but thats my experience :o

I have the same problem if I eat a lot of spuds or pasta though :o so I'm stumped whichever I do, most of the probs is down to the meds I take as I have this problem quite regularly (hence my renaming of the speed soup to Dyno Rod soup ;):rotfl:) but thanks for your input anyway x

A lot of people on greens eat Quorn products for their protein replacement, as per nessies post above. Ive only had the chicken style pieces which I did in a curry & they were really nice.

How about adding cashew nuts to a noodle stir fry, I love them like that and full of protein.

I find the alpen lights really good with helping me go the toilet, I know the weetabix bars are high in fibre too, but 2 x alpen lights gives you more fibre, worth a try Dizzy ;) They also give me wind, and I am suffering again today (as I do everyday) stuck in the office holding in my trumps and feel the wind rolling around inside me, and the pain is not fun :-( Also * week for me, so suffering with that pain too

WI today, I gained 2.5 lbs, how lovely! Has to be fluid and * week side effects cos I haven't faltered on my diet. So here I am back up to nearly 11stone :(
Im trying hard not to be to bothered, its happend before, and I know it will go, so hey ho, its pub night tonight, so I can't stay upset for long:cool:

I ALWAYS ALWAYS regular as clockwork have a gain at *week hun.....even when I've been a saint with the diet, you can see it on the chart in my book every 4th week....even my consultant knows now just by glancing at it ;)
Its just fluid & will have disappeared by next WI (and a bit more too:))- so don't beat yourself up about it....and definately dont let it make you have a binge today or anything!!!:A

    I won't binge dizzy :A all they way :D

Thanks, I know I do gain during the first few days, so it depends if it falls on my WI or not, and this time it has, I didn't realise I gained that much though, but have noticed over last few days I have been drinking loads of water, and not peeing, so I guess it has to come out of me sometime. I bet this wind rolling around in me holds some density too, oh what I wouldnt give to have a big FART right now :rotfl:

I'm veggie :D I eat quite a bit of Quorn, eggs are good and very versatile, cheese as a HE is useful, beans and pulses are good protein, quinoa is a grain that's high in protein.
Tofu........very good for protein but in my opinion is the food of the devil  the only way I can eat it is deep fried from the chinese :rotfl:

RE: Protein on Green days - Quorn is for me - so many different products - the lamb style grills are nice, so are the peppered style steaks, the swedish balls have a unique flavour. I also like the Mr T Meatfree products i.e. the sausages(1.5 syns each) and the burgers (1/2 syn each) the Mr T burgers are better than quorn burgers imo

Never tried tofu! Beans are full of protein aren't they? Bean stew?

RE: Toilet habits! I find cauliflower & broccoli to help - also fizzy drinks disagree with me! You could try the scan/oat bran - i couldn't wait to have some of these & their side effects after my couple of weeks bingeing! But i know they are similar to marmite - either love it or hate it! Lots and Lots of beans - try a bean cottage pie or something - replace any mince with beans!

It is strange how everyones body is different - i remember you saying about sweetcorn dizzy - but i don't get that side effect!

Ice-cream also 'helps' but not really a 'good' food lol

What about drinking green tea or peppermint tea???
