    Good day folks :D

Beautiful day here in the Vale of York so we set off very early in the campervan for the coast. Got there nice and early so got a good spot in the car park just next to a patch of grass where we could sit out and enjoy the day.

No spectacular weight loss for me this week. I just knew I wouldnt sustain another 4lb loss so its a .........
    :j -1lb :j

That leaves me just 3lbs to go to my 4 stone shiney

Oh and 26lbs to my first target :D

Well done to all the losers amongst us and hugs to the strugglers.

    Hi everyone,
Hope this post is not out of order.
I went to see a hypnotherapist on Thursday hoping he could help with weight loss and lack of sleep. When he had finished the consultation he was good enough to say that I would be wasting my money if he did hypno for weight loss. He said I had to sort out my emotional problems out first. (money worries and hubbies illness ) It seemed quite obvious when he explained everything to me, he has recommended EFT or something called TAT both to do with accupressure. I wonder if this is why so many of us on this forum cannot sleep. Are there so many of us with underlying emotional problems. I am giving EFT a go and will let you know how it goes. Who knows where I can go from here.

  • I've been doing SW since the end of February and I've done quite well (26.5lbs) but I seem to have hit a wall. I know how to follow the plan and I know what to avoid etc but I can't seem to stick to it at the moment.
I've memorised what I can and cant eat but I haven't dealt with the emotional aspect of it all at the moment. I'm 31 years old and have been on a diet since I was 11. 20 years of my life have been spent dieting and yet I'm still fat!!!! I'm struggling to treat this as a permanent change, it still feels temporary and then I'm wondering what will happen when and if I get to target (3 more stone to go!). I'm realistic enough to know that losing weight won't change my life significantly so sometimes I think what is the point to it??
I struggle with commitment in my day to day life. Everything feels temporary to me! Relationships, home, job etc.

I don't really have any support with my diet and it really gets me down sometimes. My mum seems to try and sabotage my efforts so i feel like I'm battling my own own cravings and her at the same time. I know why she does it, she was widowed a few years ago and I think she's scared that I'm suddenly going to be thin and whisked off my feet by a hunky young man and leave her on her own! Whenever I see her she always manages to put me down about how I look. I know she thinks it doesnt bother me but it actually really hurts.

I'm just so fed up with it all at the moment, when will this become my life and not just a constant battle??????

Sorry for the really long rant!!!

Funny you've posted this just as I was writing my pathetic rant!! Will be watching with interest as I haven't dealt with the emotional issues linked to my weight!

I haven't any magic answers annaangeluk and philsmum but I'm sending you this. This forum is excellent for having a rant/getting your thoughts down and there may well be posters who have had similar experiences and will be able to help.

Personally, SW has been my one and only 'diet'. I've always been thin and 'middle aged spread' was really getting me down. Of course, losing weight in itself won't change your life but it can hugely change your outlook and how you tackle things. Since losing weight I feel so much better about myself, I like myself again and that's given me so much more confidence. On top of that there are the physical benefits of more energy etc.

From a purely practical angle I think doing a meal plan/shopping list/food diary helps to keep me on track when I'm struggling a bit. It's something tangible to help motivate me.

    Hang on in there. x

Anna, I feel a bit like that with Slimming World at times, but then just have to remind myself that IT'S NOT A DIET, it's just eating properly and healthily, which is something that should just be a part of daily life, not just for a while and not just to lose weight.

I was talking to someone at work the other day, you know the type that everyone knows someone like it - the ones who eat and eat and eat, chocolate, crisps, doughnuts, cakes, coke, everything, yet they never put on a pound! And she said that Yes, it was nice not to have to worry about putting on weight, but in a few years time she would probably end up with diabeties, heart problems, arteries lined with crap etc etc, that are actually a lot harder to solve than being overweight.

We're not on a diet, we're just healthy.

Can anyone confirm this? I am sure I was told when I joined SW that when I reach my target, I wont have to pay any more ( unless I then go over my target) However, I cant find this in my literature. I (think) I will reach my target this week (1 1/2 st) so am now hoping to save money but I havn't quite reached my 25 BMI so intend to carry on. However, if I reset my target, would that mean that I have to carry on paying until I reach my new target? I'm confused.
Hi Katy, the others have answered your target question, but one thing I'd suggest is to get to your current target and have a few weeks free, give yourself a break - it's fab being at target and not just because classes are free! You feell more relaxed, can have an extra healthy extra or a naughty day or two, it's fun. Meanwhile you may find that you continue to lose half a pound or so, in which case when you get to the bottom of your "3 lbs below target" you can then re-set to 7 lb below your current target (even though you are nearly halfway there, iyswim) and just have to pay for a few more weeks :D

it's a thought, but I'm like Maman (below), always ate what I wanted and stayed slim until middle age hit me and my eyesight must've gone cos I didn't even notice that fat creeping on! I have disturbed nights but only because my elderly confused cat keeps thinking it's morning and trying to wake me.

I agree Maman. I've never done a meal plan though but being a singleton it's pretty much laid out - I buy a chicken or some fish or make a casserole, some vegetables and fruit, and some salad, and that's my food for the week in various combinations :p The following week I will buy completely different protein/vegetables/fruit if I can, just to get variety.
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

Morning all. It's lovely and warm here already. it's just a shame I'm stuck in a boiling hot office all day...what I would do for some air con! Actually even better would be to not be at work at all!!

Well done to all the losers.

Still no MRSM, I'm pretty sure she hasn't been on since last Sunday, if yopu're lurking MRSM then I hope all's ok with you x

    Dizzy, how's your head recovering?

Today will probably be red depending on what I get for lunch, I was so hot and full last night I just couldn't think what to make so I'll pop out at lunch to get something.

    Brekkie - porridge (HEA&B), banana
Lunch - ?? might get a salad with some ham or chicken, grapes and cherries for pud
Tea - Lamb steak, new pots (HEB), vegetable kebabs,
SNacks - I have a nectarine and a yogurt if I need them
Syns - will have some kind or sauce with tea.

I'm hoping to do tea on the BBQ but good old BBW weather tells me its going to rain at 4pm, if so I'll have to use my griddle pan.
