I was 10st 4lbs when I joined and I'm 5'8"!!! It doesn't matter if you're only a little bit overweight, anyone is welcome as long as you have half a stone or more to lose.Hi Drea
I'm the same height as you and weighed 10st 5.5lbs when I joined a couple of months ago. Most of my weight is on my stomach making me look pregnant even though I'm notI felt like I was a bit of a fraud when I went to my first meeting cos the rest of me is tiny in comparison. But I was made to feel very welcome by my consultant and the rest of the group. I'm now under 10st but have a long way to go to reach my target of 8st 7.
Don't be scared, I'm sure they'll all be very nice and be pleased to see you.
Woot - your pics look great. Congratulations :T
Thanks both, that's really made me feel better about it!
Now I have a whole big bottle of Peartiser in the fridge... uh oh.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Glad you had a wonderful time-congrats!Oh, and yes you look goooood!!
As for the 24lb oh my goodness me! That must be some record - i feel i should congratulate you..but as its a slimming thread i will refrain:T:T:T On a serious note you cant have put all that on in just 2 weeks! Hopefully a lot will be water retention and will drop off in no time0 -
May I pick everyone's brains about SW chips/wedges?
Mine can be a bit hit and miss but I think that maybe because oven temperature varies depending on what else I'm cooking at the same time.
Does everyone parboil and for how long? What about with sweet potatoes? I read somewhere about microwaving a whole potato and then cutting it into wedges. Does anyone do that?
All advice welcome:) I'm off to start dinner otherwise I'll be having a chips and egg snack!0 -
I tried doing the chips for the first time last night and they were OK. Possibly a bit too thin. I par-boiled first then bunged them in the oven for 20mins. The thicker ones were OK.0

Woot (congrats by the way!) - I went on honeymoon to an all inclusive in Mexico and can see how you'd put on over 20lbs! We only went for a week and I came back decidedly tubbier!
Today hasn't been brilliant - I succumbed to the biccies again:(
I think I have decided subconsciously that my diet is over (with only a lb left to go) and have morphed into someone else accidentally! Will give myself a slap and get back on tge wagon - I can do this so I just have to get on with it!
Other food has been ok -(green)
Breakfast - Hifi bar (B choice)
Lunch - leftover free beany thing and brown rice, mixed frozen berries
Afternoon meeting - biscuits - grrr! ***syns!
Tea - quorn burger and baked beans (trying to be syn free after the biscuit incident)
Snack - mullerlight
I also have a load of apples to stew and will maybe have some of this later as a B choice, if not I'll take it to work tomorrow.
Hope everyone else is avoiding the sweet stuff better than I am!0 -
We had actually left the house to go to the group for the first time. And then the OH decided he'd rather not go and just do it alone and as I just wanted to do it online originally we decided that one of us would open an online account (for all the bits and pieces) and the other can put their WI each week on a spreadsheet.
Phew, group avoidedJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
It's strange but my DH (and a few friends) started to suggest that I've lost enough. I'm 5ft 9 and my target is 10st 7 (only 5.5lbs to go). Strangely they all seem to forget that I was never heavier than 10 stone until a few years back. When I get back from my holiday, I'm going to go for my target and then think hard about whether another half stone is a good idea.:)
I find it odd too, Maman, that friends, colleagues and associates who are ...erm... sturdier than me are forever telling me "don't lose too much" - I still weigh at least one stone more than I thought I did (:D ) and 2 stone more than when I was 30, and looking at photos I was not a skinny minny then. Slim yes, but not skeletal, I've never been skeletal. I do wonder what their agenda is. Slim friends just admire my new figure and new clothes.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

So, I'm feeling VERY scared of my first group tonight. I feel like because I don't look very overweight I just shouldn't be there and everyone will think I'm an idiot for going. But, I am overweight (not hugely so but it still affects me) and instead of my stomach most of my weight goes to my bum and thighs. Mind you, the stomach is getting bigger too
I'm 5'2" and now around 10st 2lbs. I'm probably being silly but I'm very nervous.... did anyone else feel like this?
well blow me down, I responded to the above post then went further and read that you are doing it all online ... so I've change what I wrote, to this. Shame your OH wouldn't go to group with you, we love men in our group:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

I've tried all ways and still think they are a lot of faff for what you get. I don't bother with 'em now. Of course, with me I have to haul out the halogen oven to cook them which adds to the work. I only used to have "real" chipshop chips about once a month so I can live without 'em. Our consultant doesn't bother with any precooking, she reckons 25-35 mins in the oven with two or three sprays of frylight does the job nicely for her.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
