Have your discussed the possibility with your DH?
Maybe you could post a separate thread re the villa loss versus debt life balance and people with experience of homes abroad etc might help you to explore all options and come up with a definate decision one way or another?0 -
think KM has a good point there..good luck whatever you decide to do as it must be so hard.0

Good morning another dreary one here we have had awful weather since the children broke up so we are treating them to a trip to the cinema today I still have credit on a cine card that I had as a present so that will pay some of it and they deserve it we have not been able to do much and in 2 weeks they will be back at school.
Have discussed the villa with OH and at the moment we are going to keep it we just feel to sell an asset at the bottom (hopefully) of the market would be such a shame although if our income deteriorates any more we would have to.

The main thing is that you have that asset so you having these choices is a good thing (even if the choices give you a headache at times), would be much worse if you didn't have it to fall back on or for the future.
Enjoy the cinema0 -

Enjoy the cinema
This is precisely our thinking when we bought it and therefore the reluctance to let it go cheap. I don't regret buying it because I know that as it was well before LBM that the money we used to buy it would have been frittered away with nothing to show for it
Just told the kids that we will not be buying sweets and drinks in the cinema as too expensive and am drinking a cappuccino before we go so that we don't buy us a drink either :money:

Thats what we do with the cinema, they never check bags so we take a bag of popcorn and drinks with us, plus its less fattening lol coz cinema popcorn portions are huge as well as ridiculously expensive..0

enjoy the cinema, and look forward to a critique of the film!Trying to shift that debt!0

Yep, having an asset to fall back on is a good thing - and it hasn't come to the worst yet.
Popcorn and drinks - of course! Even when I finally managed to pay out for a ticket to see Harry 7 pt2, I wouldn't have dreamt of buying *food* there. I did buy a cup of tea, true, because I'd already been out of the house for about 6 hours, but that was all. And weirdly, it was cheapish for a cinema, even tho it was central London ...
Hope you enjoy!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hope you have had a much needed afternoon of enjoyment.
Hugs to you xxxOne step at a time0 -
We had a lovely time at the cinema saw Cars 2 forgot to get the kid's some popcorn from Mr. T's as promised so have to do that today.
Got back to another very expensive phone call piece of equipment gone wrong that could cost up to £2K to replace should have lasted 15 years only lasted 7 it is just never ending waiting for an email to see what the actual damage will be but it has to be done and we don't have the money so more CC debt
