My thought on a CV is that you need to

    1. Keep the readers attention for more than 20 secs (this includes both the HR filterer and the person who will interview)
    2. Show you as the sort of person who
    a. Can do the job - has the required qualifications/skills
    b. Wants to do the job - appears enthusiastic for the £££ being offered
    c. Will fit into the existing team - professional, able to work in a team, will complement/blend/stand out as appropriate

With this in mind, your CV should be a max of two pages with the most interesting bits at the front (like a personal statement). Hobbies are good to examine since they help a person evaluate how they behave in different situations, what makes their heart sing and also appreciate just what they have packed into their busy lives.

I would only put hobbies on a CV if there was space and I would put right at the very end ... and only if on a second read I come across techno geeky in the professional bit.

A CV is a SALES DOCUMENT and the product is YOU - it's only purpose is to get you to the interview.

I loved those jackets. Sadly couldn't wear them myself as I am rather large chested but hey ho, just another reminder to actually take the cellophane off the Shred DVD I have bought and start using it!

Sometimes settling is the way forward. If the claim against us was for less money I would settle it in a heart beat, but I don't see them taking the figure I would suggest.

I wouldn't write off the jackets because of a large chest I am very well endowed in that department being an L cup :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: that's why I stick to single breasted and one button and v neck it all helps.

I didn't know you had a claim pending too my heart goes out to you it really upset me and I am so glad that it is settled and that I don't have to dread opening my emails :(

Thanks NL that is a really good post and echoes the advice I have been given. I have discussed the hobbies things with OH and he suggested a couple of things that we do to add and I am seriously considering taking up the sailing again. It's not expensive KC we didn't own a boat I used to crew for friends it would be the yacht club membership to pay for which is a lot cheaper than gym membership and is also very good for our social life and they are good with kids too. We stopped being members because we moved further away it used to be right on our doorstep we could stagger home if necessary :o and also because I stopped sailing when I got pregnant I was told off for getting pregnant at the beginning of the season :D Also lots of our friends are members so I think t would be good as our social life is a bit limited at the moment so would help with the life balance too.

DT I just think that I will have someone take me in hand once i have gained a thinner me. I really don't know what suits me anymore, so will have to have someone suggest things for me! But first I really must go and take the cellophane off the shred dvd

Ref the claim. I thought it was all coming to a head, as it has gone to court, but then we heard nothing, so heaven knows what is going on now.....

DT although I don't employ solicitors I do employ both skilled and highly skilled staff and am always wary of those who like to do too much!;)
Firstly they want too much time off to do them :cool:and secondly they have a habbit of getting injured :cool:but most importantly those who boast about all these exciting things they are off doing
obviously are not fulfilled at home or at work,:) (we don't always look for what the career advisor's say we do)
You are a lady who has had your children and coped with working, you put back into the community and are not likely to drop an employer in it to go and help plant coffee in some remote mountain field
you are at peace with your actions (mostly!) and that makes for happy and stable staff, go for it xxx
