getting back to the original question!!!!

I would not buy or sell anythink outside of ebay again. I have recently had a terrible experience and think although you may be out of pocket slighlty by listing a buy it now for the buyer, they could stlll pay you via bank transfer to save your paypal fees but then you will have ebays protection if something was to go wrong. IMO x x

Um, not exactly. The ebay protection would be for the buyer not for the seller. Most of the anti ebay rants at the moment tend to centre on the fact that buyers get all the protection and sellers none at all.

Im sure it was on here soolin i was advised not to buy or sell anything outside of ebay again as its frowned upon. And im sure you will correct me if im wrong, but the OP asked for peoples opinions on what to do, i have merely suggested they set a buy it now up for the buyer and took payment via bank transfer to save paypal fees, then both sides will have ebay protection. That is just my opinion.
  • well you are all very smug , if you are 100% sure you are totally safe then put your money where your mouth is....

There is a difference between smug and correct. A grown up admits when they were wrong.

I have thank you, several thousand times as it is on my invoices when I send them. Luckily I understand how the system works and can properly safeguard myself.

Being frowned upon is not the same as not being safe.

As a buyer we would probably tell you that you have a little more protection with ebay than buying 'blind' (but we would also be saying you were mad to be contemplating using a bank transfer and insist you use paypal instead) but as a seller there is no more protection to be had with ebay, infact as entioned above it gives the buyer more rights over you.

It is possible to give conflicting advice , it all depends whether we are advising the buyer or the seller.
