No Buying Toiletries in May Challenge

Oooh, claims to fame: My Great Aunt was the last governess to Keiser Wilhelm (I think the 2nd?) the last one anyway. I am decended from the people who owned the Longleat Estate but we were disowned when a female married a servant. I have met Eamon Holmes, Anthea Turner, Deuce (anyone remember them?!), Lorraine Kelly (she's lovely!), Cheryl Baker, the chap who used to do the weather on GMTV (don't remember his name sorry!). Erm, Darren Day. East 17, Andi Peters, Emma Forbes (she said I smelled nice!), Katie Hill, Trev and Simon. Probably more. I've been on GMTV, Live and Kicking and been in the magazine Top Sante.
My cousin is a camera man for AlJazeera, my sister works in the archives for the BBC.
Sounds exciting but I actually have a really boring life!
Oh and the best one: I had a thread on here featured in Martin's weekly email when DS lost his teddy bear. The thread actually featured top 3 on googles search page when searching for RAF Waddington

On the subject of claims to fame, my great grandparents had a music hall act in the early part of the last century and shared the bill with both Charlie Chaplin, and Stan Laurel. There's a family story that my great great grandfather (or something?!) was a stone mason (that bits true) and fell in love with the Duke of Norfolk's youngest daughter and they eloped. I am a bit dubious about this, but u never know. I saw Alan Bennett on Leeds station, but he lives in Leeds so not that amazing, and I shared a multi story carpark lift with John Peel. He was very polite, but again we lived in the same town so not that incredible. Such a shame he's gone
but his wife is lovely and very involved in local projects. Thanks to the People's Millions we now have "The John Peel Arts Center" in the town, for all kinds of groups involved in the arts :j
John Peel was my hero. I have Margrave of the Marshes and the Olivetti Chronicles (Peel books). I named my hamster Biscuit because his was named Biscuit. I didn't know there was a John Peel Arts Centre, woo-hoo...

Oh dear, I see that we came in 11th and were beaten by Jedwood. I only turned over towards the end but didn't wait around to see who won. Thought it was so funny that Graham Norton had to keep reminding us that we couldn't vote for our own country! lol. Personally, I think Blue are past their best and look too old to be a boy band!
Another UU for me yesterday. A 50ml pot of Boots Fairtrade Extracts Brazil Nut body butter. On the whole I love the texture of these but was not overly keen on the smell of this one so WNBA.
Have a trip to Boots planned today as Emma wants to buy a bottle of nail crackle for her friend's birthday present. Let's hope I can keep strong.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

last night cut open a tube of gradual facial moisturiser as it was spluttering, there was still lots left in the tube but had opened a new moisturiser so decided to use it on my feet.
OMG the soles of my feet are dark brown, but what is funny is that it never tanned my face!
I think I have one more use of it tonight. Thank goodness! lolLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -
I have no claims to fame
Think I saw Jeffrey Archer at Bournemouth train station once though!
My best friend's Dad had his marrow featured on the National Lottery show once! And my Dad met Peter Shilton but didn't get his autograph!!!!!!
Loved the Moldova entry last night!I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -

Teenage dreams so hard to beat.
Teenage Kicks was played at his funeral, how cool is that?
The Arts Centre is only small but so is the town.
My ex-OH went to a birthday party at at the Peel/Ravenscroft house once, and won a dancing competition and John Peel gave him a record as a prize! He didn't keep it though, I'd have had it signed and framed!!!0 -

He's doesn't seem to have noticed (yet)I don't make it a habit of it, it was just this time round to get rid of one partciular bottle of shampoo!
All this talk of these S&G totebags is getting me curious. My Boots xmas sale consisted of the branch at the airport on Boxing Day, this year I'll have to order things online (because of course by then my stash will be soo much smaller....)
Charlie - flying can be stressful, try not to get too worked up as it spoils the excitement of the holiday. If the ticket desk know you are on that flight, they're bound to be open. I'm sure a quick phone call to the airport can confirm this. As for check-in, 3 hrs is only necessary for US flights. Depending on the airline, perhaps you can check-in online, then you don't need to be at the airport quite as early. 90mins , max 2hrs should be fine. Is it worth doing a trial run to the airport so you are familiar with things? I work at an airport see and I always find it sweet when people do this. At least you know what country you're flying to, some don't even know that much......mcculloch29 wrote: »There is a guy from the town I live in singing for Romania tonight, he's a year younger than my DS.

morning all,
A couple of boring uu's to declare:
Bayliss & Harding rose shower gel - eugh! is all I can say, this was a gift and I persevered with it but I hate rose scented products and this was really awful
tesco lavendar shower gel - again a gift but this was really quite pleasant, wouldn't go out and buy though as there are many others which I prefer.
Have uni exams this week and next which I really need to do some work for and then I'll try and catch up with all the bizz on the thread.
Hope you are all well, have a good Sunday, xx0 -
Another UU: Botanics Nourishing Body Butter.
WIBA? Yes - it was surprisingly good! Thick, but not too think, really nourishing and left even my feet nice and moisturised.
I wasn't expecting it to be so good, but I'm glad that it was! Please call me 'Pickle'

I can't find who posted about the evans glitch but thanks so much! I just ordered my cozzie! I've had to have a size 14 though- are they quite small?
Im not sure about the sizing - I got a 14 and praying it fits, Im actually a 12 but as swimwear is usually pretty tight fitting I figured a 14 should be ok? Worth a go for the price because otherwise I was going to be getting one from Primark anyway
Am praying it comes, its changed to 'packed' now so next step 'dispatched' :j
Just checked and it says swimwear can be returned as long as the hygiene seal is still on it....although a little unsure about the refund procedure in this instance because if I only paid postage, would they just refund that?
- Apparently the code has stopped working nowbit dissapointing because I would have placed an order for a few cheap t-shirts, figured at size 14 if they are a bit baggy it doesnt really matter.....
Love the claim to fame stories
Remembered a few encounters - my parents once met Hot Chocolate at the bar of the hotel they were staying, My dad of course being his usual *funny* self asked if they were ordering a 'hot chocolate' (so embarrassing)....
OH's nan goes on a lot of cruises and a few years back she shared a lift with 'Dot Cotton' who apparently was very very drunk at the time....
Ive not exactly met them but you always bump into the blokes from Dirty Sanchez or Goldie Lookin Chain around town, in the supermarket, at the cash machine etc.... Actually I once crashed my trolley into Eggsy's in Tesco
What a dissapointment about eurovision....behind Jedward
Me and OH had our hopes on Moldova (the ones with the unicyle and funny cone hats!) thought they were a bit of a laugh - everything Ive always thought eurovision should beMFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11
