No Buying Toiletries in May Challenge
Comments
-
wow! loads of posts to read! No in's to report. 14 days in and I haven't bought any toiletries! I'm very impressed with myself, hopefully I can make it till next weekend!
2 UU's
A nivea nourishing hand cream (travel size) - WIBA, YES! I love it, but I have other hand creams to use up first. I've never thought of cutting the top off the tube to get whats left out, but I did with this one as I love it so much, and now unfortuantely its all gone
Schwarzkof frizz control serum - WNBA, at the end of the day my hair would feel so greasy after using this in the morning! Its been an effort to use it up....Luckily it was left lying around and my niece squeezed what was left (not much) out in one of her gamesHas left a slight stain on the carpet, can't understand that as it was clear coming out of the tube!
Splutters
AB Mandarin shampoo and conditioner (can't use this up fast enough! it stinks!)
BS Papya body wash (lovely, think it'll be finished after a couple more showers)
Vaseline dry skin hand cream (bit runny, prefer my hadn cream to be thick, reckon it will last till end of the week)
Time to get out shower gel and hand cream and shampoo etc ready to use wonce these have gone!
Next hair prodcut to use up will be the Avon straight and sleek smoothing balm.
Speaking of Avon, I could have spent a fair bit in the current one. I've politely explained this challenge to my Avon lady and said how I need to save money, could she please not leave me a catalogue. She gave me her number and told me to let her know when I'm ready to buy againI'm glad she was nice about it. One less temptation to buy, but it means she loses out. Oh well, I have spent a lot with her over the years!

Wow Twod, you deserve a medal for your determination. I have done my Avon order from the new book and it is £30, did order a perfume and that skin clearing stuff which was why it was so high.
Also on the subject of Avon I have ordered the eyeshadow and primer kit, has anyone used one, would be nice to hear feedback on it before I actually give the order in, tia. Have ordered this because I thought the primer might help me use up some of my other eyeshadows as I never seem to get an even base.
Am going out now to do a fundraising bag pack in Tesco for Brownies, 7 year old DD is doing the packing (god help the customers) I am supervising her. Can hardly wait, not.The devil makes works for idle hands0 -
I've cut the tube open on my handcream so hopefully i'll have some UU to report soon.
Out of interest, does anyone use henna on their hair?Does it just fade or will I end up with roots?Dr_Roberto wrote: »thought I was going to have a in but since when did boots get rid of urban decay!!!!
A couple of months ago!! I was devastatedThey're the only ones who did 342 on UD, and I used to pay with points!! Debenhams just tweeted that they're doing 10% off beauty until next Saturday though and 750 bonus pts online wys £40 after discount.

Nails Incthevicster wrote: »Sawan... FAB nails! The crackle is lovely isn't it? So much easier to apply than the Barry M one! I know what you mean about applying in different directions, I reckon that would look really cool! What's the colour underneath the crackle? It's sooo pretty!
It's such a lovely colour, been planning my first colour combo since you got yours!! It's called Palace Mews and it's a lilac shade. I'll edit this post later with a picture of the bottle
I know what you mean about the Barry M one, it seems to dry during application as it were, and it's difficult to get less on the brush to apply just one coat, I always end up overlappingI'm thinking about applying the crackle at angles to see how it turns out.
Valm Just googled that OPI colour, it's lovely

Me too :rotfl:juliebunny wrote: »I bumped into Celebrate on a grabbit thread and she has declined to come back to this thread! I think she is still in major hoarding mode...!
ShameShe'll be back
Saw a soap and glory Christmas tote bag in use today, a girl at the gym had it as her gym bag and it looked really good.
I use mine for my Asda shopping - you can fit loads in
One Freebie IN: E45 Lipbalm from a Lemsip FB comp - they were giving out 100 a day and the envelope was handwritten - someone is going to have a sore wrist this weekend
One OUT: I used the HE freebie Sachets (the orangey ones) to top up my travel shampoo/conditioner - I've got so many 'decanted' products in my kit I've had to label them all
DD is over tonight - her and her new (first!) BF are going out for dinner to celebrate their first months anniversary (all together now .... aaaahhhhhh!) and she's taking him to the restaurant her dad used to take her to every week when she was a kid - too cute
£1 off Simple Kind to Skin Shower range @ Boots - thought I'd share:

Hi hanval
That is well funny filling up old bottles - doesn't the OH ever notice that it never seems to be going down or does he assume you just bought the same one again??!!No, just take your LYB card in, it should have your birthday written on the bcak and explain you are there to redeem your birthday gift. :T

I bet she's running a sweepstake with the other Avon reps on how long until you call ! :rotfl:
Oh all this talk of the Christmas S&G Tote bag, I don't even know where mine is, how bad is that! I was sure it would be my car booting bag for this summer.....off to dig it out...Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Had a UU this morning and it's something I haven't used up in years- an aerosol body spray. The reason being, my friend has for the past few years, asked me to give her one of mine on a regular basis (I posted about this before.) She has been out of work for a long time now. I gave her a large silver Kindred Spirit one the last time she asked (Feb) and she's not asked since, so I actually got to keep one and finish it. It was an Impulse, Siren to be precise.
WIBA? No. I've decided not to buy them any more. If she asks for what I have, fine, she can have it, but after that I'll just tell her that I've not got one to give her as I've decided not to use them any more. I'll buy her some for Christmas and birthdays. Otherwise, it's going to niggle me.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I'm using my henna as we speak. I'm sat here with what looks like baby poo after they've been at the spinach with cling film and a beanie hat on my head. I look a plonker
It's very messy, isn't it? It keeps dribbling down my face!0 -
Popped out to get food for dinner and got the instyle with nails inc too. Think I deserve a treat while I write up my uni project though and now i've got nice painted nails and a magazine to flick through. I'll read a bit after every page I write
Suprised myself and got fawn instead of turqoise. Like the colour on but I wasn't as impressed by the polish as I thought I'd be. Quite smooth but thin and its been sticky for ages. Can't say I think it's worth twice as much as normal polishes / 5x cheapy ones. Guess if it lasts then it'll go up in my opinions, we'll see!
S&G hand food's nearly ran out I think but it's been spluttery for ages. Would probs get a mini bottle again once i've used others i've got.0 -
Hello
Hope I can join in. I have participated in the 'No Buying Toiletries' challenges before. I'm still working through my stash, but I'm getting there. Have bought a few new things in the past couple of months though and really need to concentrate on using up what I have before I buy anything else.
So to start with I had one UU this week. It was sample pot of Lancome Hydra Zen moisturiser. It was a pretty decent sized pot, I can't even remember where I got it from now...I suspect a friend may have given it me. I've been using it as a night cream over winter and it's been pretty good when my skin has gotten all dry and sensitive with the cold weather/central heating etc. WIBA? Not sure. I'm trying to switch my products over to more natural ones, so if I can find something else more natural then probably not.
My new night cream I'm trying to use up is a Natio one that I bought in Australia ages ago.
I have a couple of IN's to report. The first is the Korres Acacia Milk conditioner. I bought it on holiday last week when the sun and wind left me barely able to get a brush through my hair. I'd had a couple of samples of this previously and had been very impressed with it and it's as good as I remembered.
I've also purchased the Burt's Bees Orange Essence Facial cleanser recently. I'm enjoying that. I LOVE the smell and it's very gentle, but it has a slightly odd texture. I'm thinking of trying their Soap Bark and Chamomile cleanser next (I don't have a stash of face washes...most of my stash is hair products, moisturisers and lip balms) or possibly a Korres one.
Whilst on holiday, I also used up a few of my leftover Euro's on a small tube of Korres Yoghurt Moisturising mask. I also got myself some Apivita Express Beauty masks. I got the one with cereals and the one with aloe, so hopefully they'll be good.
Hopefully I'll be back soon with more UU's.
GwenxThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
