No Buying Toiletries in May Challenge

I have a NPI to report!
Had a wander over to the Body Shop site after seeing talk of a glitch - again, I wouldn't know these things if it wasn't for this forum so it's as much a curse as a godsend! :rotfl:After logging in through quidco, I added the 3 free gifts, then spent quite a while faffing and looking for other things I wanted...
Added the coconut shower gel, shea lotion and shea butter as the freebies. Went through various things such as toner (which I need a new one, but not enamoured with any of the BS ones), more shea butters/lotions... thankfully in my case the freebies don't seem to be tracking properly as other peoples have in all contributing towards the £35 threshold - so I need to spend more to get them than the glitch first appears...
Then I realised I don't need any of this stuff, even the freebies. I definitely don't want to spend £30 just to get them. Hell, I'm not sure I even want them at all... I currently have, amongst my other stash, (all unpoened) 2 BS shea lotions, a BS shea butter, various other BS and boots butters and lotions... And I know in my 'gift' drawer (of which my favourites will make their way back to my bathroom!:p) I have another Shea gift set box... To be honest, what's the chance I'll be sick to the death of their Shea stuff by the time I'd get to open any new purchases??!!
I definitely don't need or want any more of their stuff (repeating as mantra) and I have enough of my favourites (the shea range, if you hadn't realised!:D) to last me a long time, and I'm sure in that time a better deal than this will come along since they seem to be having a good deal every other week at the moment.
Have closed down the window and determined not to go back. Instead, once I've finished the one none clinique toner in my stash, I may take some of your recommendations, and put the money I would have spent here towards a fancy Elemis toner or something instead.... Of course not this month though :rotfl:
I think my willpower is improving!:T
Brilliant, well said!! I read the thread about the glitch but didn't order either. I can't believe that anyone on MSE doesn't already have a shed load of BS stuff from all the previous offers!!You can use Sudocream for anything, I use it for ingrown hairs on bikini line and I put it on blisters on my feet or you can use it on sunburn (which we shouldn't really have in the first place) or cold sores. It doesn't soak in so you can't use it out in public but it is rather soothing. It's cheap and handy to have. But just the one pot, definitely no need for a stash!
Me too plus a teal nail polish from InStyle
I've also used sudocrem on cats botty when it was sore after giving birth (rescue - mine are all speyed...) so safe for animal too. I assume this means it's doesn't have any nasties in it.mcculloch29 wrote: »Rosemary - and all others needing them - huge hugs, wishing you strength.
Keeping this brief. Work to do!
You can vote without your polling card btw but hopefully I will shortly find mine where I think I left it!
I was umming and ahhing about voting but well, women died for the right to vote and that's still just within living memory.
Yeah, we owe them to vote.
Phew having caught up on this thread, so many lovely and intelligent posts. too tired for comments after a day gardening in the sun......zzzzz....Lyndseydee.....fingers and toes crossed for you and hubby xxxxxxxxxxxxxLess stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

UU QOD Gold conditioner. WIBA? Not sure. I've found a keratin shampoo & conditioner which work just as well as doing the keratin treatment and using the shampoo & conditioner to go with it. So I think i'll stick to them instead.PrincessPlaty wrote: »I appear to have gained a bottle of suncream too :rotfl:
It doesn't work very well. Don't use it on bubba
You'll have 70,000 more bottles gained when I remember to book another courier:rotfl: And NO! I don't want reminding!:rotfl::j0 -

from the pic in the mag it looks like nail varnish?
Someone else has posted that Benetint (and Posietint) are lip and cheek stains. High Beam is a highlighter. I won't be tempted by any of these as I've tried all these products. They don't work on me. I think my skin is too sallow for them. Please can I join in this late??
I keep meaning to stop buying toiletries but there are so many offers around at the moment, I need some willpower and some moral support.
Its only the 6th May and I have already used up a £5 off a 20 spend in BOOTS (buying their lovely new Champneys stuff) and just given in to the urge to spend money at the Body shop...and ended up spending £20...so thats £40 this month aleady! I justified it to myself as it is my Birthday on the 5th May so it was my "present to myself" NOOOO this is all wrong!
Ive even started to get stuff delivered to work rather than home and it is all stashed in my office, and the fire officer came in this morning and was joking (I hope) that my office was becoming a fire risk with all the boxes piled up in the corner!!!!!
Are their any tips for resisting temptation???? I really feel this is becoming a bit of an obsession...too many good offers around.
I'd say don't be too harsh on yourself as it's your birthday - happy birthday BTW - but I know there is a quote by Martin Lewis along the lines of "look at a product and ask yourself "will I use it?, then do I need it? (in case you have loads in stash) and then more importantly "Can I afford it?" which might help.While I'm here, some UU to report;
Loreal Gentle eye makeup remover - WIBA yes, although I have a No7 one to use up first, then I'm going to attempt to see how I get on removing my eyemakeup with my Liz Earle C&P - I think it's done a pretty good job in the past and as it's not my HG cleanser, if it can remove the need for a separate eye makeup remover that'd be perfect!
I can also confirm the clinique toners have been binned. I did actually UU the final dregs of one as it was so close and then I felt less guilty of binning the others - there was only about 30ml in one and 15ml in the other so not much to lose. Have liberated the Lancome Douceur toner from the stash - am tempted to pull out the matching cleanser just to give them a good go together as I've never used Lancome skincare before so might be a good trial.
I used to use C&P to remove eye makeup and it was fine however the resident beauty expert on QVC advises that one uses a separate eye make up remover. I must say that I am loving the L'Oreal one. Feels so cooling and removes everything without leaving sticky or greasy residue.
Well done on binning the Clinique toners.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

A couple of UUs Neutrogena visibly clear face mask...this lasted forever, not that I dont like it but it makes so much mess! A Lush ruby red slippers bubble slice. Thought this was my last bubbly thing but just found another sparkley one.Debt free and busy treating myself:)
No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -
Lynseydee - good to hear from you and I take it things with your Hubby are on the up?
OOOOOooooo Shiny charms OOOoooo How bout a pic or a linky?
 A warm welcome to all the newbies - good luck.
Anyone got the Cath Kidson freebie bag with Easy Living mag this month? Just wondering if it is worth looking out for this weekend.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3209426
I bought the mag for the bag but it is very small and flimsey:(there is a15% off coupon for CK tho ,had free cK bags before and they were much better0 -
UU No7 microdermabrasion face scrub - WIBA Yes this is good stuff but I have a couple of face scrubs in the stash so am going to use those.
Has anyone here tried Too Faced Lash injection mascara? I opened it up a couple of days ago and have to say I am not overly impressed. Its very clumpy and I think it has a bit of a funny smell to it - is that how its supposed to be?! Just want to be sure in case there is something wrong with it.
Am off to the hairdressers for some pampering!0 -
I heard the CK bag was disappointing too - what a let down - book sized I heard?
Tx for the low down VALM on the Benefit stuff - I definitely don't need to buy any of that then.
Just got back from Tescos - wanted an SD card for my camera and also to check out a few deals from Grabbit, yes, tut tut....(tescos naturally w-up liquid 40p...x ten as it's my usual product unless Ecover is on offer.....:p)
Had my first mishap in a while - Vaseline pink container 75ml hand & nail creams at half price 75p I think. In true stash style of course I bought 2 - well I did leave 2 for someone else :rotfl: oh and some cheap shampoo £1 but I think that's allowed as it's not one of my hoarding items as I find it boring.
I'll just put one foot on the naughty step for the handcreams.....
EDIT - oops also bought a John Frieda Frizz ease Spiral style spray gel 1/3rd off £3.75 I think but this is a great product I use every day. VERY restrained in only buying one.....why can't I do that with hand cream!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

Used my L'Oreal foam hair dye this morning (got it free with a voucher in Superdrug). Really impressed - easy to prepare and apply, no mess, lovely colour and no stains around the hairline!Sealed Pot Challenge Number 1225
