MSE News: Tesco weakens Price Check guarantee again

I went into Tesco in Cullompton and they still have their DTD banners up.0

Why shouldn't they? After all it is the truth!
Sorry, but you're entering 'Catch-22' land there - if you believe Asda is overwhelmingly cheaper than Tesco, you wouldn't be going into Tesco at all. So, you wouldn't know it to be true, only your belief. Moreover, even if another organisation says that so many items are cheaper in Asda than are cheaper in Tesco, you don't know if those items are one's that you want at that particular moment when you are shopping. Unless, of course you go to Tesco to find out - but (catch-22) you won't because 'they are too expensive'.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0

Round One was the original "R&R" policy whereby customers received a full refund if the price at the till was higher than the price stated on the shelf. Thanks to MSE, Tesco got spanked for many an Xbox 360 and Sony PSP
You forgot the Nintendo DSs, PS2s and how could you forget the Noddy annuals...
 Man I miss those days...Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! 0 0

I did my shop 2 weeks ago when DTD was active and I only entered my receipt recently and it only gave me the difference back.
To me, this is unacceptable, as I bought my shopping with the understanding DTD was active, which it was.
I assume this is happening to others too.
If so, what is being done? MSE should contact Tesco about this.
Funnily, I contacted tesco customer services before I entered the receipt and they said I would receive DTD!
I will clarify with them tomorrow, see what they say.0

Well said. Qualityblahblahdoh wrote: »Tesco celebrate wedding by saying "I don't".
Single the difference now, but double the embarrassment.0

Update: called Tesco and the customer advisor sympathised and admitted he agreed with me that it is unfair, and I lodged a complaint with them.
 Consumer Direct replied with:
I would advise that under the Consumer Protection Unfair Trading Regulation it is a criminal offence for a trader to knowingly mislead consumers by providing misleading claims and omissions. Therefore, in view of your concerns I will refer your file through to the Trading Standards of where the trader's head office is based of Hertfordshire for routine enforcement and collation purposes.
Everyone else should pile on the pressure.0

On the 'Gone but was it any good' board there is a discussion ongoing about this in the last Tesco Pricechecker thread. I think a lot of people are contacting the relevant agencies about this.
Meanwhile, customer services will probably offer you a £10 gift card to make up for the DTD you have lost. I suspect though, that if the pressure continues, Tesco will have to change their cut-off policy and give DTD on all shopping done before midday last Thursday.0

It would not accept my receipt dated 28th April, kept coming up as no details found for the receipt number.0

Did anyone successfully get any compensation from Tesco with this? I got an £8 voucher rather than a £16 voucher (shopped 27/04 but didn't submit receipt details til after midday on 28/04) and was wondering whether to use it...I was holding off to see if anyone got the extra difference in gift card??0
