It was fun while it lasted. It helped qute a few people get stuff they would not normaly buy but would of liked for cheap or free.

Hopefully a good thing has come out of this that makes people more savvy with there shopping and checking which shop is better for pricing.

I know I will be from now on

What's the point in having a guarantee? In all honesty, how many people are actually going to go back and claim the difference. Tesco get to look good without needing to lower their prices. It's a win win for them.

Any more info on the 12pm deadline - is it just pass through the tills before then or also enter the receipt?!
    I think....

Someone on one of the Tesco threads predicted the wedding would be the time to bury bad news...

However the spreadsheet was a great tool and on some things like the dishwasher tabs would still be very useful - is there a price comparison site like mysupermarket, but that lists only those items that are cheaper in some supermarkets than others as that would be a useful resource going forward.
    I think....

Ooh - notice the enter by noon to get DTD - this could catch out people who have purchased expecting to get DtD but haven't put their receipts in yet. Is this even within the T&C? What about those who had reached the £100 limit this month and were waiting for a new month to input their receipts?!

Its official... Off the price check website:

    Price Check update
We created Price Check to provide real transparency for our customers and to reassure them in the face of misleading claims by Asda.
When we compare our customers' baskets with Asda's prices, nearly 80 per cent are the same price or cheaper in Tesco than they would be in Asda.
For the minority of customers whose shopping would have been cheaper we offered to reimburse double the difference. The vast majority of our customers use Price Check fairly to check their normal shopping. And Price Check comparisons by customers shopping normally have given rise to a negligible number of cases where we have had to double the difference.
But Price Check and Double the Difference have also given rise to a cottage industry of savvy and determined people. They identify products which are on short-term promotion in Asda then buy them at Tesco, claim the coupons through Price Check, buy more of the same products with the coupons and go on recycling coupons in this way just to make money.
As we’ve said before, we commend their ingenuity and determination, but that wasn’t why we set up Price Check.
So to protect the scheme for the majority of our customers, we are changing it so that we give customers the difference, not double the difference.
It is still a commitment, and we remain as determined as ever to providing transparency on prices and to reimbursing the few customers who might find their shop was on that rare occasion cheaper at Asda.
The changes apply to any receipts entered into Price Check from noon on Thursday 28 April onwards
