How much have you saved by checking receipts?

I was again told that they were stopping the giftcard soon and there would be a 'special offer' starting online to replace it - :rotfl:
It always amuses me how the minions on the shop floor, in places like Asda and Tesco, claim to be privy to these company policy meetings [probably highly confidential ones] conducted hundreds of miles away at head office.0 -

I suppose you were checking your receipt to make sure that you had been over-charged rather than checking to see that you hadn't.
Otherwise the iron wouldn't have been in your shopping in the first place.
Actually, this had been marked at half price for quite a while (and still was) and I had been saving for it, have to admit I was delighted when I was charged full price for it though! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I got fed up of having to go back to Morrisons when checking my reciepts at home so now I religiously check them before i leave the supermarket. At least 10% of the time they are wrong and always in the shop's favour.
Another one is the Coop, only today I got charged for a large baguette instead of a normal one. They always ask now if you want a reciept (they say its to save paper) I always say yes please if I'm buying more than one item.
Same here.I haven't had a correct Morrison bill for ages. This week a salmon fillet scanned twice. Got the money refunded, but it's a pain.
I never used to check till i got home but then it was another trip back by bus so if it was less than £1 i never bothered with it. Now i sit on the bench an scrutinise my bill properly. Last time the girl on the customer tills asked if i was going to attend their Christmas party, i was there so often.:o Tesco is opening a store here in Widnes (I hope ) so i will be giving them a go. Sick of Morrison.0 -
Got charged £3.38 for 2 packs of mushrooms on a price marked pack saying 2 for £2 at Tesco yesterday. Quite annoyed I now have to go back and get the money.:footie:

Jane, is this in their T&C's or price promise somewhere in print or black and white because they ALWAYS have at least one error on my receipts and they have never offered me a gift card (not that i knew to ask for one until now.....)
I'm not Jane but I thought I'd mention that when I was overcharged in Asda, the assistant went to some trouble to check out my claim that there was a display showing the lower price. She removed the SEL labelling as she said it was wrong but very pleasantly refunded me my money and gave me a £2 gift card with no prompting at all - I had never reported an overcharge before and was quite surprised to get the gift card.
Like most of these things, it seems to depend on who you get when your report the mistake.0 -
I have never found an over-charge through the receipt although I do always check before I leave the shop, is it only me that keeps their beady eye on the display as items are scanned through? This is so if anything is mis-scanned I can get it corrected there and then, rather than being forced to queue up for customer services.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

We all keep a beedy eye on it, and on the receipt, it's just that we know better than to say anything there and then - always allow a little extra time to go to CS and get a little bit extra! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

I'm normally good at checking receipts, but the other week got distracted at the till in Superdrug when asked if I wanted stamps. I did, but I had no idea how much they cost these days and got talking to the cashier, so forgot to check the total. Got home to find I'd been overcharged by £2.99 as a BOGOF offer hadn't triggered. Would've cost me more in petrol to go back in, so I emailed a scan of my receipt to Superdrug and last week received a terribly apologetic letter and £10 voucher for the inconvenience. Nice one Superdrug!0

I am like you - I check the prices as they are being scanned - checked there and then...no standing in line to have a refund. Morrisons are a nightmare at times. The overcharging is an ongoing problem for me.0
