Hi Everyone
I am thinking of openeing a step account with Natwest and would like to know from anyone who already has this account if standing orders can be set up online using their online banking service, also does anybody know if faster payments are available into and out of this account. Also can cash be paid into the account at the branch counter as some basic accounts only allow paying in via cash machines.DMP mutual support thread member:3270 -

As far as i'm aware this account has full bank counter service and direct debits/standing orders can be set up either by telephone banking or the online banking service.
RBS who own Natwest have a similar account called Key Account and the above mentioned facilities are available.0 -

Yes - standing orders can be set up online, faster payments are available in and out of thea ccount, and cash can be paid at the branch counter.
However, I would recommend a Barclays Cash Card Account. It comes with a VISA debit card. It's better than a Solo debit card.0 -
Hi
Thanks everyone for your advice, after carefull consideration, hours of searching basic accounts onlineand a reccomendation from a friend, I opted to go with the CO-OP cashminder account, basically because of the fact that payments can be deposited at the post office, which is really handy for me as I don't have many branches near to where I live.
Anyway I applied via telephone today, strange as it was a bank holiday  I confirmed that it was the basic account that I wanted with no over draft etc and gave all of the details required, at the end of the conversation the guy taking the application submitted my application and it came back as, refer to undewriters for a manual decision, I was told that this would take 3/4 days, does this basically mean that I have been refused or is this normal practice, I don't have any defaults as yet or missing payments, apart from say one or two that where a few days late this month.DMP mutual support thread member:3270 -

Why don't you try for a current account with the Co-Operative. You shouldn't have too much problem as you don't have an 'adverse' data, it may be worth considering.
Anyway, this is normal practice for the Cashminder Account.
My parents had this account about 3 years ago. It is the exact same pattern. They rang 3 days later and it was open.
If you contact them say Wednesday or Thursday they will have a decision for you.
The only reason why they would decline you would be a record of fraud.
Furthermore don't get more than 3 unpaid items or they will shut the account!

Thanks for the reply, I will give them a call on Thursday, I only wanted a basic account as I already have a current account elsewhere, this is just a back up in case I encounter any problemsDMP mutual support thread member:3270

Good Morning Guys/Gals,
Looking for a little bit of advice and help re Barclays Cash Card Account.
I'm hoping to open this account in the branch today, i have an appointment at 3pm.
I'm currently in a Scottish Trust Deed (Protected) similar to the English IVA.
Does anyone know if this will hinder my chances of getting this basic account?
Whats checks can I expect them to perform in branch?
I have an account with the CO-OP at the moment but its just the basic Visa electron card you get but as i understand it from the the Barclays website this account gives the choice of a basic cash card or the normal Visa debit card.0 -

Not sure if you will be eligible with you are in a Scottish Trust Deed. You could call the customer service helpline on the Barclays website, before you go to branch.
The checks that Barclays perform for a Cash Card Account are:- fraud check
- bankruptcy check
- ID check
