    Hi all,
Just a quickie as i'm after a basic bank account and just want some advice.
I'm a member of an online gaming clan, and several of the other members pay towards running the clan through Paypal. But quite a lot of members are under 16 and want to pay something but have neither a bank account or Paypal account.
I am after a basic account, as i dont want to use my own current account, so that anyone can go into any branch of the chosen bank and pay money into this account.
It will only be small amounts £5 or £10, and probably a maximum of £50 total per month which would be withdrawn, or transfered to another account on a regular basis, so there would never be a large amount in there.
I have a good credit rating so that is not a problem, but i'm just after something very basic and easy.
Would the Post Office be an option? Can someone pay money into someone elses PO account at a different branch? Never had a PO account before lol.
Also would like to be able to manage it online too.

    TIA
    Errrr...come back later ;)
  • I have just shut my Abbey account due to excessive charges, however Everyone is turning me down for a new account. I have just got my credit report and noticed 2 cifas warnings in my name. I think I might have told a white lie about how long I had been at my adress. I have been turned down by HSBC, Co-op cashminder and Halifax cardcash. Does anybody know of any bank that will consider somebody with 2 cifas warnings?

I am new to this forum hope someone can help me I have a cardcash account with RBS i am desperate to have a debit card as cant buy on internet or order tickets etc if i ask them for one will they then do a credit check? bit worried cos dont want to have a failed application posted on my credit file.

For anyone having real difficulties getting even a basic account and debit card can I suggest pre paid debit and credit cards? I have a Visa one (www.3vcash.com) which I use to pay for travel to collect my daughter from her dad's contact visits, we live about 400 miles apart now. So I don't use it often. You pay £3.50 each time you top it up but if you top up by a good amount it's much less % than any "normal" credit card. I top mine up every couple of months, any small amounts left over I use to buy music etc online, Got £13 left over from last time (flight prices had dropped by time I actually booked) so will use that for some online shopping of some description - (at mo prob some heavy bits I need from Argos)

There are others and since I got mine there are now pre pay debit cards too, shop around to get best current deal (must listen to own advice).

Just make sure its one from a well known name or you might find its difficult to find companies that accept it.

What are cifas warnings and how do I find out about my credit rating?

I was wondering why Natwest, Clydesdale, and Yorkshire bank basic bank accounts are the most popular, and not the others.... One reason I know that they have a debit card, but besides that, what other reasons?
  • Hi don't know if anyone can help- but I used to have current account with first direct - but moved to halifax who have been so so disappointing - but first direct do not give customers who return the same incentives as new joiners -- a bit like mortgage companies -- so no 100 pound incentive to join which is their offer at the minute.
does anyone know any way round this ? and does everyone think this is fair - shouldn't everyone be entitled to the same incentives ?
or is there another bank offering any good incentives to switch ?
    Thanks

You can get your wage paid into it like any other bank account and you can make deposits and withdrawals at the post office

How is money deposited into the account?

According to the website it says:

Voyager Alliance Credit Union is a not for profit organisation, offering financial services to the passenger transport industry in England and Wales. Membership is open to passenger transport employees in England and Wales and their family members who live in the same household.[/quote]
