  • Hello
Am I in the right place? On Saturday 13th Radio4 I heard brief mention that Nationwide had made a big mistake in offering 4% to existing savers which they are obliged to honour. Now I can't find a trace of it anywhere. Any info welcome

Most likely would have been on moneybox. Have you tried listening via iplayer?

    Later addition

    From their website
And: If you're one of thousands of Nationwide customers with a Flexclusive ISA, you could benefit from a mistake by the Building Society. But only if you act quickly.

Hi guys-need a basic bank a/c that I can open in Branch immediately-on electoral roll (well up to Dec 2012) & have p/port/recent credit/bank statements.

Any ideas of an instant opening one with debit card?

Most of the high street banks (except Santander) offer debit cards with their basic accounts now. I know LloydsTSB & Barclays can give you an instant account number, but I'm sure some others can as well.
  • I've had the same problem as others on other threads with the Co-operative. Basically their online facility is dire and it's really, really difficult to get an accurate statement of how much money there is in the account at any one time. Now they are closing my account because I had insufficient funds to cover DDs a few times.

Am I stuffed now? Will any other banks take me?

I've just been accepted for a cash Card account with Nationwide. It was really easy to open online but I'm just wondering what experiences anyone has had with them?

    Hello Clare,

I have had a very good experience with Nationwide so far although I have only been banking with them for over just over a month.

The account allows withdrawals at any ATM (Well, at least the ones I've come across) and Direct Debits and Standing Orders are allowed. I've just recently completed the process of moving my few DD's over.

I have paid some money in at the branch and was told that if I keep my account in good health (zero DD bounces, in credit over £750) for a certain period that I may well be eligible for an upgrade to a FlexAccount.

Online banking is decent enough compared to the others and the app for your phone is of a good standard.

It's all of course early days but if I am eventually upgraded to a FlexAccount, I'll be chuffed beyond bits. I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in regards to my debts and having a "normal" account again will be great.:j
