Car problem - something has fallen off mine :(

Update: Well, the garage that did them for me has now "changed" it's trading name which is quite typical considering the car just doesn't feel right just 7 months after they were fitted - or rather they fitted me up for £192
The car seems to make a squelching noise over every little bump and the CD player skips more than the proverbial famous bush kangaroo
Its definitely on the right hand side of the car and is really noticable.
It just can't handle any unsmooth road (which is most of them) and I dread having to go over any speed bumps in the road ahead
Reckon it must be the rear springs now. Definitely NOT going back to the same garage with same staff under their "new" trading name. Should have twigged by the lassoo above the door and Sheriff's Office sign on the front door....
£192 down the drain as I don't trust the front two springs they put in were brand new quality parts:eek:
Darned car repairs.

sounds like the camber is off to me and if you hear squelching when going over a bump that will probably be hydrolic fluid in the macpherson strut passing through the seals does it feal bouncy? push the front end down and count the bounces its supposed to only go down then up then rest if it bounces more than a kangeroo with a hot poker up its RRSE they knackered.
my advice, get GAS filled shock absorbers, they take more of a beating and last longer.
how long do you intend on keeping it, and how much more you willing to spend.
ive got in mind a few things you could buy that will last longer be more durable and may work out cheaper if bough off fleabay and fitted by a indy garage.0 -
My advice was going to be the same, sounds more like a damper issue rather than the springs.
If the car sits level, (easily measured), doesn't bottom out, (obvious), it supports the theory.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Thanks. I'll give it a push / bounce tomorrow.
BTW - Are the photo's earlier on in this thread any help to you in identifying any new problems?
Not being sarcastic here, I just mean I haven't got a clue about cars > dampers > cambers etc :embarasse.0 -
Have you checked round the dampers front and rear to see if they are damp (as in leaking fluid, not because the road is wet!). Unseen, I'd be putting my money on knackered front struts, and get the indie to check if those front springs ever were changed.0

So if you accept front struts are dampers with springs around that's another vote for dampers, for those that don't know:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

No dampness, just very squelchy feeling on the right hand side, dashboard vibrates more than a rampant rabbit with new batteries in, and CD player still skips like crazy at the slightest bump.0 -
It is very bad that a 7 yr old ford should be rotting through like this.
I have had plenty of fords, the earliest was a 68 cortina mk2, never had to replace a spring or shock on any.
How many miles has your [STRIKE]shed[/STRIKE] car done Rochdale guy ?
seems much more common these days
heard of it on various marques
dunno if its different materials, spring tuning or whatever0
