Thanks everyone, I don't know whether they are from the front / back / left or right, and I am not pleased I may have to fork out upto £200 :(

I'm NOT taking it to my local Ford dealer, but am torn where to take it now. There is a long established garage/MOT centre 3 minutes walk from where I work, or dare I say a KwikFit only 5 minutes from where I live....

I just know I'm gonna get ripped off and end up having all 4 replaced. Happy Easter? Not for me!

Asbokid - The shock absorbers may well be worn out too. And what, dare I ask will that cost? God, I didn't think a 2004 Fiesta would need such work doing on it...

In order of preference from those options:

    1) The long established independent garage
    2) The Ford dealer
    3) My mum who thinks a screwdriver is something highly technical
    4) The local hobo
    5) Kwik-fit

Or ask your mates/family for any garages they can recommend. Whereabouts in the country are you? Someone on here might know a decent local garage...

EDIT: D'oh, just realised your username might be a clue to your location ;)

Asbokid -An opportunity to lower the car, methinks, when a set of 4 Spax SSX lowering springs (-30mm) is only £70 delivered.

Thick head on here. but why would you want to lower the car when it's hitting speed bumps that cause the damage in the first place, and potholes. And NO, I don't hammer my car. I hate speed bumps and am the person in front you hate who does 1mph over them! Not that that has saved underneath my car.... :(

I just googled this (really should be working!) which scared me too with the costs:

Is 4 posts in a row akin to talking to yourself? I'm scaring myself now :(

It is very bad that a 7 yr old ford should be rotting through like this.
I have had plenty of fords, the earliest was a 68 cortina mk2, never had to replace a spring or shock on any.
How many miles has your [STRIKE]shed[/STRIKE] car done Rochdale guy ?

Ok, stop using t'internet and being scared and call a local independent garage to get a quote (will probably need to take it in so they can have a look). Tell them you only want a quote at this stage. At least then you'll know what you're dealing with.

You're beyond the point now where the internet can help you. :p

i use f&f on manchester road quite often, and when my exhaust had a hole in i went and got a free quote, they were cheaper that kwik fit (as i called for a quote on the way home) i like them and always seem quite genuine, but again i dont know anything about cars :(
however i have found a website called the good garage scheme where people give there opinions on garages and i think i will try it in a couple of weeks, cos my car is due its mot and nearest garage to me is kwik fit :(http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk/garage/search/p have a look and read the reviews :) hth
