Sorry soolin, but you are contradicting yourself. Either they do or they do not follow these boards. It has to beone or the other. I suspect that they have people reading both this and the CAG fora, they would be ill-advised not to.

Whether they do anything or not is another matter. If a member is likely to be presecuted by Trading Standards for selling banned or dangerous goods I imagine that they would want to know about it.

Probably not, you can report fakes to them for instance and get the standard reply about how they take it all seriously, then carry on letting the items be sold. If you search MSE for 'blinged babies' you will see dangerous items being sold aimed at babies. I have even reported them to the designers involved, and still they get listed. Dior told me they take it all very serious, as did ebay, but it is all still there.

I think you over estimate ebay's level of involvement. Why on earth would they bother monitoring web forums?

The best way you can alert other buyers to the nature of this item and the problem you've had with it is to leave negative or neutral feedback about the item. If you have left either then it has been removed as there are no negatives for this item in the the last two months.

Oh yes there are, you are not looking in the right place. I cannot post the link, so you will have to take my word for it.

I don't see much wrong with the listing, most cheap Chinese tat comes with a European two pin plug and a UK adapter. Maybe you just bought a bad set, ask the seller for a remedy.
Did you know you can just cut off the two pin plug and put a UK one on? This would do away with the adapter. (please don't do this if you don't know how to wire a plug)
I fail to see why the TSO was surprised by the fact that it has a two pin plug attached, doesn't he know the rest of Europe use the two pin system. There is no way he can say this does not conform to E.U regulations without first having it proffesionaly tested, which he will not be qualified to do, this also goes for the adapter.

Irrespective of what plugs are used in the rest of Europe, it is illegal to sell an item in the UK if it does not have an approved 3 pin plug fitted. (there are a few exceptions, those mainly being shavers, electric toothbrushes), unless it is also supplied with an approved adaptor that can only be fitted and removed with the use of a tool.
This requirement is covered by the "The Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994" (section 12)

'eBay.co.uk is a venue that allows anyone to offer, sell, and buy just about anything, at anytime, from anywhere, in a variety of pricing formats and venues, such as stores, fixed price formats and auction-style formats. We do not review users' listings or content and are not involved in the actual transaction between buyers and sellers. We have no control over and do not guarantee the quality, safety or legality of items advertised, the truth or accuracy of listings, the truth or accuracy of feedback or other content posted by users on our sites, the ability of sellers to sell items, the ability of buyers to pay for items, or that a buyer or seller will actually complete a transaction.'

Put simply, eBay doesn't really care !

The seller in the first post is not the same seller that the OP left feedback for, that is where the confusion lies.

Two sellers, similar names using the same photos.

No soolin, it is the same person. There is no confusion, he has two eBay accounts under different names.

If MSE allowed me to post links, then I would have made matters crystal clear in my OP. I suppose they have a reason, but I cannot think what it is.

it's not very wise to give out your ebay ID on this or other forums, other people have had problems with people who did not like what they were saying.
also the seller may be unhappy about what you are saying very publicly about him and take some action

Did you miss the part that says it comes with an adapter.
