I got into this well over a year ago and subsribed to genes reunited. It's addictive, isn't it? I started on DH's family because I can't access German records on line. My grandad (mum's dad) had to produce a family tree which went back several generations, but I have little on my dad's side. I suppose that will be a retirement project. :rotfl:I haven't done any research for ages, though, as it's bottom of the list of priorities at the moment.
Thanks for all the advice on bedding. The new duvet was fine last night, so that's a good start (it is Egyption cotton, incidentally). We now need a lighter one so I can put this one away until autumn. The new sheet was nice, too (thread count of 200).
I'm going into town later with at least one DS. There's a bedding shop and a TK Maxx, so I'll have a look. We have a king size duvet on a double bed. Hope I find something I like and can afford, but at least I know now what to look for.
Thanks, everyone (and soappie). DS1 has informed me that he needs cricket whites, so he may decide to join us.
Time for a list:
breakfast
bath/dressed
laundry (one to go out and at least 4 more waiting) - it's sunny!
DW
homework with DS2
school work
shopping in town (need a list because there's a lot to remember - DS1 will be 17 next Thu)
clean litter tray - cat can now stay in 'unsupervised' :j
library to renew books
post letter to bank
lunch
plan and cook tea
maybe clean LR window and front door (NN had house sandblasted the day after the window cleaner had been )
Time for food.
ETA I'm not concerned about ironing sheets as that's DH's job.
So far we don't iron bedding, though. 0 -

I've had a go at updating my budget, but the bank holidays are playing havoc with internet banking, so I've done what I could and will have to leave it until mid-week, when everything should be up-to-date. It's an expensive month, with both DSs birthdays, DH's reunion, paying for the caravan for spring bank and the car repair.0 -
I've just ordered resources for DS1 to prepare for the driving theory test. When he's conscious I'll ask him if he'd like us to send off for his provisional licence as part of his birthday present, or whether he wants to save up for it.

Gardening:- weeded the paths, potted on some peppers / pansies, planted out the sweetpeas.
OH gone out on bike, it now has a new battery so that should solve the sudden dead battery.

Good Morning late start here this morning
Just finnishing my coffee and catching up with the thread before I go and wake DD to come and walk the dog with me.
The house still looks reasonable so just the dailies and a HHI here today."Let your boat of life be light, pack only what you need- A homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love and someone who loves you, a cat, a dog, a pipe or two enough to eat, enough to wear and a little more than enough to drink, as thirst is a dangerous thing" Jerome k. Morning all,
Had to take cat number 1 to the vets first thing. She has cystitis. She gets it every couple of years.
Also went into town to the library, and am now about to blitz the house, then gardening.
DH is vacuuming, and I am about to do the bathroom.
Catch you later

Today is a gift
That's why we call it 'The Present'0 -
Only joined you ladies yesterday so working on a bit of my own 'catch up' today before starting properly next week. So far I have oragnised all of DD's clothes and thrown out what doesn't fit, and amazed myself at how many clothes she actually has... 3 wash baskets still to put away and already her wardrobe drawers are full to bursting (single wardrobe with 3 drawers) and I need to go out to buy some more childsize coathangers as we have run out of the 'free' ones that come when you buy the clothes.
Also hoping to Get DS' clothes sorted as he has just outgrown his newborn size clothes and I need to see what we have in the 0-3m and 3-6m ready. I hope I have more than I think I do.
I did go nuts in the kitchen yesterday. All dishes done, and the sides were properly wiped down, anti-bac'd and DF got a telling off when he left breadcrumbs over it 15mins later. Still have the floor to clean in there and want to get the hoover out, but that will have to wait till DD is in bed as she is terrified of it.
Hope you are all having a good day, I am looking forward to getting the 'backlog' of housework cleared so I can work on the garden... I may take a before pic before I start on it. It really is horrible right now, been overgrown since we moved in in October. We only just realised most of the garden is patio and not grass....Mummy to beautiful 5yr old girl and a gorgeous 1yr old boy:D0 -
DD kicked out of bed and dog has now been walked. DW unstacked and hoover put over downstairs. Just going to have a quick coffee and then Im off to shower and S&S the bathroom."Let your boat of life be light, pack only what you need- A homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love and someone who loves you, a cat, a dog, a pipe or two enough to eat, enough to wear and a little more than enough to drink, as thirst is a dangerous thing" Jerome k.
