Kwit Fit nightmare

In my view the politicians should be aware of this kind of ruthless profiteering. But of course, they're toothess tigers and cannot do anything. I always thought that within the garage trade jobs had a price (and time per job) which was generally applicable in a region. Obviously rip off fit does not. A mechanic friend of mine once fitted a jan speed exhaust which took him 3 days to get right. He stil only got the time specified for that job.0

BFDOT = Brake Fluid
BCONS = Brake Consumables, eg brake cleaner/copper slip0 -
Any ideas what's the average hourly rate, and how long to put a metal brake pipe/fluid in?0

Rubbish. Brake fluid absorbs water - its hygroscopic - and that causes corrosion internally. It is because of this that it is supposed to be changed every 2 years yet most people don't bother.0 -

Another 65 quid later..
The more you post, the more this car of your sounds like a real shed.0 -
Can you give us the model of car please.0

It's a Renault Scenic (R reg)
Hammyman, insulting my car doesn't quite have the impact I'm sure you're trying to achieve. But to be fair, nothing you say does.
Good try though, bless you x0 -
Hammy- as a mechanic what price for change of front discs on this car? Also would Kwik fit use top of the range parts or cheapest that they can fit? £144 seems awful dear to me. And there is no evidence that this work is required which is the crux of this thread.0

wheel cylinders are a £10 if that.
master cylinder is no more than about £45.000 -
I do have to say that Kwik Fit branches must vary a lot. I have had two cars MOT'd at the local Amersham KF (reduced price of £35) and both passed with a couple of advisories. I do try to check them over beforehand, but no attempt to rip me off.Je suis sabot...0
