Kwit Fit nightmare

Would anybody have taken this £700 quote? Could a full renewal of the braking system amount to that much on a common car? I've bought cars with a full MOT for well less than that.
A master cylinder on my saxo is around £60 new not including fitting. You could try the scrapyard approach (some guarantee the parts) but I would be interested to know what the mechanics on here think of that type of used part.
Brake parts are so cheap, for most vehicles, its simply not worth fitting second hard!0 -
Actually £700 isn't that bad.
She said it needs discs, pads, shoes, drums and pipes.
Front Discs £100 a pair
Front pads £50 a set
Rear Drums £125 a set
Rear Shoes £60 a set
Rear Wheel Cylinders £40 a pair.
This is before we even consider anything like labour.
.
what the heck do you drive for discs to cost £50 each.. :eek:Sealed pot challenger # 10

I hope the OP reports what her garage says the problem is and the costs involved. Be interesting to see the comparison. If the car does not need pads and discs, I hope she goes back to KF to make a formal complaint.0

As soon as I've heard back from my garage I shall report back here with the info.
I find the juxtaposition on here quite astonishing, there seems to be a wealth of Daily Mail types that are so obnoxiously fake, but thankfully this is balanced out with some genuine 'real' people with only good intentions at heart. Thank you to those, and to the others..you really quite are amusing, do carry on!0 -
Standard practice in the Ambualnce Service, any problem that is in any way safety related means the vehicle is low loaded to the fitters. No excuses."
You can't possibly to compare that to people's personal cars, who would have to pay out of their own pocket for a tow truck to come out. Of course a public service fleet would do that, its only to be expected, and is right, but joe public often can't afford such a thing, and doesn't have a spare ambulance/car to take instead.0 -

I'm a qualified time served mechanic. I think I know a fair bit more of the seriousness that your shed of a car has with its brakes than you apparently seem to.
I really do hope you have a smash before you get them fixed if nothing more than to wipe the smug smile off your face.0
