i'm not the type who can be bullied!
dmg24 usually makes a lot of sense ( to me anyway) and i have no problem with their suggestion, and if it was as easy as typing in bold, then i would have no problem at all complying.
i'm of the opinion that if you can give it out then you should be able to take it.
and i certainly 'give it out' at times lol.
We all do, ' give it out at times ' and I just did, but I would never deliberately attack someone's disability. They can attack what you say, but should never target the calamity itself.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. don't you just! LOL - will try to remember not to use smiley things in posts addressing you but can't promise that I'll succeed. Apologies for any unintended rudeness, shall we keep 'talking straight'?
Have you ever tried speech output or voice recognition software as an alternative to the magnifying tools?
I am tickled that Ritchie is taking a pop at me for not knowing the exact nature of every forum user's disability - well doesn't that just make him the bully for not knowing or remembering mine. I'm toying with being offended by his ignorant comment but on balance I've decided against it as it won't, unfortunately, make me any better at remembering, wish it would, one of the most frustrating things about this b****** illness is that my previously superb memory has been thoroughly trashed.Eat food. I precisely remember yours, its the very reason I used the word predicate, the fact that I do remember you is why I let you off so lightly, others I would have dealt a much more stinging blow.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. i havent tried any of the speech stuff and to be honest i'm not that interested in it right now.
i obviously have some sight, and even though it 'lies' to me an awful lot, it's almost impossible to ignore what it's telling me!
use your smileys! i'm big enough to live with them lol0 -

Awwww! That's sweet, thank you - now I just have to work out what predicated means in the context you used it in - b***** this brain!Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

If I might offer a precise interpretation, finding understanding from the population [ of the group ] in the general and expecting empathy in the particular from your good self I found a one~on~one attempt at devouring another disabled person by attacking their only means of internet communication.
My comments to you were / are not offensive - your comments to nannytone were / are offensive. My comments to you were / are not ignorant and should not offend you. I will defend all disabled from abuse at every opportunity, and in this case even when its .. .. disabled .. .. on .. .. disabled.
As an aside, I never thought dmg24 and I would disagree, but there you go another learning experience for me.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Nannytone,
Have you tried 'Zoomtext' at all ? It's very good magnification software that my wife uses. She couldn't get on with some of the demo software they had at the Low Vision room via the council but her university disability team showed her Zoomtext and it was brilliant. The scrolling and adjustments are very intuitive. She had reached the point where she was no longer able to read books, even large print because she struggled with glare and distortion from the white paper. Zoomtext converts it to white on dark blue background, greatly magnified which really helps a lot.
I just thought I'd mention it in case it was any use to you.Debt at worst point = £8100 Debt now = £9560 -
hold on a second Richie............. while I do appreciate your concern, surely I should be the one to say if I was offended?
and I wasn't!
people get 'sniffy' about really insignificant things but I really don't need anyone taking offence on my behalf!
Doubtful Guest......... I too can't read books/newspapers anymore. I have a small amount of sight but it is disturbed...........flashing lights/floaters etc.
it isn't so much the size of the text that I find the real problem, it is the 'boldness' of it.
if i have flashing lights the size of a pin head, obviously the size of print in a newspaper is really interferred with......but the first few lines that are in bold............I can read around the flashes ( if that makes sense!)
I find magnification tools confuse my sight and make me feel slightly drunk lol
it's like when I forget to take my glasses off when i finish using the computer yes do it all the time, and wonder why I cant see lol)0 -

Not on an open forum your not, if you and others want to live in a ' closed to the public scrutiny and comment ' privileged cocoon and exclude everyone else and their opinion then go PM my friend.
You are perfectly entitled to express offence / or / not, but only with the same level of entitlement as myself or anyone else in a public forum, no one persons rights should elevated over any other individuals rights.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. yes it is a public forum. but comments were directed towards me.........i don't understand why they would offend you!
i don't think the comments were made because of my use of 'bold' but more because i am inclined to be a bit too blunt with my comments anbd rub people up the wrong way because of them. it's nothing to do with my disability. though i do agree there is a lot of 'my disability is worse than your disability' going on, but i dont get involved in that.
i think personal comments are in bad taste, and i try not to make them..........but i probably have at times lol
i don't like the 'victim' mentality that is all too prevalent.
so what if i have bad eyes...................laying down and playing dead won't do anything to help!!0
