Silly billy Cheri, if you can't rant here where can you??0

:o:o So embarrased everybody and apologies for the rant. In my defence other than this forum I have never been into forums so internet speak is alien to me. However, everybody please take on board what FW says about me. And she knows because she is my self appointed guru!
Cheri, very happy to be and because it is your call I am not going to get scared of the responsibility.
Have been looking at some interesting stuff on my day semi-off (lost Sunday to travel and worked extra hard on Monday and Tuesday) and will let you know when ready.

Hey Been, glad you find it useful. Revert without regret, is what I have started thinking about - this is on the premise that people cannot convert, they only revert to wisdom and reflection.
When I first mentioned the 'negative wealth' on my tread someone asked me whether I refer to my savings as 'positive debt'. I never replied because if someone doesn't get it to this degree there is no point. Because in fact, technically this is correct! People can refer to their savings as 'positive debt'; some do and they are miserable as hell and will always tell you why there is no way things will work, the world will end and the corners of their mouths merge with their necks.
It is our choice - we can express things in negative terms or in possitive, affirmative ones. We can face the calamities of life and preserve our humor and humanity, or live lives full of fear, resentment and jelousy.
I think most Matrix members do the latter; or we aspire to (NL, be proud, I skillfully avoided using 'try').

I'm considering putting together a spreadsheet with a line for everything we buy, and space to put in the cheapest place to buy it. It can be a WIP project, but I was wondering if anyone else had done anything similar, and if so, whether they found it sustainable, or just too much hassle to keep updating?
Welcome 40SM!
I sort of started a price book but didn't keep it going TBHI did enough to work out the cost of buying my meat from costco compared to Sainsbugs etc. I tend to buy the same things (creature of habit me) so generally can remember roughly how much a particular item was at a different store providing there haven't been massive price fluctuations.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Look if you're going to embarrass yourself might as well do it in publicDon't sweat it, easy mistake and I confess I don't actually like the abbreviations, too twee for me BUT I use them for the kids as they are easily recognisable
right lovely lady from building society rang to confirm what paper work I need to show them in order for my "wages" to be included in application to borrow on the mortgage in order to pay for conservatory. I don't recall having said bit of paper she mentioned since doing my tax return online.......... So I think a call to the tax office is in orderI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

) - not about anything to do with work really, just feeling rather hormonal and a little overwhelmed at the minute
and I'm feeling a little like I don't know what I'm doing right now.
(I do really, I just need to remember that I'm the newest member of staff, and nobody's expecting me to have the same experience as someone who's been here for 5 years! So yes, sometimes I miss things - but that's why I work with people who've been here a long time, and not all by myself...)
Cheery, if you want to talk to me more about this one send me an e-mail or we can arrange a talk by some medium. Navigating in universities at the moment is something people need to be mentored through. Do you have a mentor where you are?

crickett - I bet today has made you appreciate a 'normal' work day
Well done :T:T:T0 -
Welcome 40SM :hello:
FW and MG are my self-appointed gurus :rotfl: - don't worry guys, you don't have to be looking over your shoulders for freaky stalkers .....yet.
How spooky is today - I have just today been thinking about increasing my net worth (see, I'm learning FW) and came to the conclusion that it is not going to happen any faster, so the best thing to do is file it, review it at regular intervals (not daily), and get on with life.
Been frog eating as well today - my living room ceiling toad increased rapidly in size by 100% but.... he is 50% eaten :T:T:T.
Another cup of tea before tackling feeding the hoardes methinks.0 -
Thanks FW
No I don't have a mentor, although my line manager is lovely. I'm on a contract in a research only dept, so not quite the same as normal university teaching/research job. Most of my problem this week is entirely related to my own hormones! But i will get in touch anyway, thank you

Please, don't do it daily. I am still not certain whether it is better done monthly or bi-monthly (and plotte on a graph so you can see where it is going).
On other news, a lovely friend (one of our own) has helped me with the design of a tool that makes tracking net wealth easy and is adapted to the UK by yours truely. Will post it on my blog when I have learned how (having MrF around is not always the answer since his main job is not supporting me; though he is having a pretty good go at this one as well). Coming in the next couple of days, I would say.

Hey all, loving the chat on here today and Cheri, I know what you mean about the diaries! I rarely mention my negative wealth as I cant see the point, it's being paid down and Im not willing to pay any more and let my past spends ruin my present and future fun. I have also stopped reading the diaries of folk who are permanently negative. We all have bad days and that's fine but some folk, well as my mum often says 'The winds aye in their face'.
Need to go and do a wee bit of cleaning and then I'm settling down for a night of quality festering, with a wee meal plan thrown in too.
Welcome 40somethingmum. We have a lovely time here!'The road to a friends house is never long'0
