Hello Hon - you still away???

I've just done my Tax Credits renewal - and put it in the post. Should be easy as I was on benefits most of the year and didn't take any income from the business in the relevant Tax Year - so fingers crossed it goes through OK.

I want witnesses that it was done in good time though:D

Thanks for the less than a quid explanation MG.

My store cupboards are bulging so maybe I should try something similar. My DH (Darling Husband! Sometimes OH (Other Half) if he's not in my best books, or if he's really upset me PITA, best not explain that one amongst ladies) thinks maybe I was a starving famine victim in a former life because I hoard things so much and feel more comfortable with my store cupboards fully stocked for any eventuality. My brother reckons he's heading here incase of a nuclear war as he reckons I could keep the whole family going for a few years!

Right I'm off to set the timer, 15 minutes of sorting and tidying away the washing before I wake BBB.

Been thinking whilst out in the garden - I blame hanging out on Firewalkers thread for the thinking stuff BTW:rotfl:

Time to start visualising the Freedom Fund instead of the Mortgage. Time to start giving my energy to the Big Horse Bank - they are on an automatic payment schedule and will be clear eventually. Time to let that run its course and to start focusssing on all the good stuff I DO want in our lives.

    MG

People blame me for all sorts of things, darling, so go on; but your thinking is your thinking.

As to changing this important instrument for hapiness and prosperity - it is hard but it has to be done. Automatic payment is great - btw this is what one of the Secret inteviewees said as well (Stop focusing on your debt; set up an automatic payment and go on with your life.) - but these have to be checked regularly. Re-phrasing is another one. Remember my negative wealth (apparenly the Universe doesn't care about adjectives)? This is why - it is not paralysing me and reminds me that by paying it off I am actually, really increasing my net wealth.

Phew, finally caught up and am delurking ( again):o and this time I intend it to be for good.! This thread is so up my street.:D

Some of you may know from other threads but for those of you who don’t I will introduce myself as briefly as I can.

    Here goes:

I am 46, married and have 3 sons DS1(11), DS2 (9.5) , DS4 (7.5). I am also “mum” to our springer spaniel who provides us with much fun, laughter and exercise!

I am originally from Dundee but have lived in the South East for 23 years. In fact I have now lived in England longer than I did in Scotland but will always see myself as a Dundee lass.

Life is rather hectic! I work full time as an accountant ( yes another one!) on a self employed basis. DS1 is on the autistic spectrum and as he is starting secondary school in September we are in the process of getting him statemented. Life is very difficult for him at the moment as he has many fears and phobias which means any change can be very upsetting for him.:(

I am in debt but will no longer focus on that as I have wealth in abundance flowing towards me . ;) Infact I wrote a “ secret” cheque out on Monday for £11,500 and am just waiting for it to materialise.:D

I have always been looking for something “else” … not sure what but sure that life had to have greater meaning. I am always reading self improvement books etc and have also trained as a life coach.

Then , about a year or so ago I discovered “The Secret” and thought “this is what I am l,ooking for” . So I ordered it from Amazon and read it in secret ! I was afraid my DH would think I was a bit cooky! :( Can you imagine my surprise and delight when I stumbled upon this thread ….. I was not alone. I did intend to keep up with the thread then and there but life got in the way a bit and well you probably know the rest.

Anyway, I am here to stay ( if you will have me!) . I probably won’t contribute as much as others as I really don’t have a way with words !

I am currently listening to a program by Joe Vitalie (sp) . ( he contributes to The Secret) called “ The Missing Secret”. I listen to the CDS in the car whilst driving to and from work . I will let you all know how I get on with it.

Sorry for the rambling. I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Completely agree about the positive language. I have always had the attititude and the mantra "I have more than enough for my needs" and that has gotten me by. I have to confess though that since I started reading the debt free diaries (no offence ladies) my attitude did change and I constantly worry about money even when I actually have no need because I am meeting the bills and have enough to have a life (ok so not a life filled with carribean holidays, new clothes etc) but a very enjoyable life. This is something that has come to me after reading the Secret and this thread. So I have cut down on what I read about around the boards and try to only focus on the ones that I get good ideas and cheeriness from (you know who you are ladies).

In a postive speaking mood I am now going to go to my little office and blitz my to do list in 4 hours because that is all I am prepared to spend on my working day today.

Yep, I went through a similar experience - thinking about money and worrying about it (and whether it is enough) in the early stages of reading. Since than I have: a) become more selective about what I read; and b) have chanelled my interest in money into the more complex and interesting levels of it rather than the day-to-day thrift obsession.

Finding one's "enough" is absolutely crucial though. I remember writing about this one several months ago and not getting very far. Now I am reading something that I'll share with you when finished which concentrates very much on that.

    Hello 40 SM

Just flew past the desk with a bin-bag and saw your post. Welcome aboard!!!

Who knew there was a desk under all the papers - LOL

One last run at the washing up then off to get DS2 and visit the Job Centre - amazing but the house already feels much better for alittle bit of picking up and putting away.

Another thought on positive thoughts. Again I hope that I dont offend anybody! I really dont get the DH, DS, DD tags. Why do you have to call each other Debt anything? I have point blank refused to use that tag and I just had a lightbulb moment and realised that it is because it really irritates me that people focus on that all of the time.

Sorry - slinks back to work but had to get that off my chest!!!

Cheri, you are terrific and wonderful. And absolutely right - people do not need to refer to their debt that way. They don't - but the interesting thing is that I never thought that the D refers to negative wealth.

Welcome to the madhouse 40somethingmum! :D

Yes, yes, I know it is not precisely lunchtime... but I am having an early break before I lose the will to live entirely! :D I have finished 1 section and am a good half way through the second section. I have evidence compiled for one of them, and I am working on finding the evidence to several other sections as well. Thank Goodness for the archiving system on my emails! Things are going really, really well today.

Next challenge will be from 1pm to hometime. I am going to work out how to calculate my days for my workplace log and get on with doing that. As well as completing the second section and getting evidence together for the other sections I have already completed. :D

Right, going to do some brain dead web surfing for a bit and then get the nose back to the grind stone. Thanks for the positive vibes ladies, I can feel them helping me.

Oh, incidentally, I think cowbag is having a hairy time with her pregnancy. She is off today, and my boss said she doesn't know when cowbag will be back. The atmosphere is so much better, just without her presence. It's great!! I shouldn't say that, and I do not wish her ill at all, but it's true. People have actually commented on it!! :D Seeing as my previous wish for cowbag to the Universe came true, I am going to wish for her health, happiness and fulfillment so that she doesn't want to come back to work after having the baby. That is nice and positive for everyone isn't it! :D:D

She really might not want to - many women don't. And as you say, if it's for good reasons, then you both win and karma is also on your side. Win: win! :D

Bless, cheri, but I do think the intention is to refer to them as 'dear' whoever.

I guess it's easy to think it means 'debt' given the number of times the word is mentioned on these forums, but I've seen it used loads of times on other forums, too, so it's just interweb convention by now.

I think that counts as a DM ('Dear Me') moment! ;) :rotfl:
