Hi all,
Back from my hen weekend and just caught up. We had a fab time and I was put forward for a game show in the bar we were in and won £125!!!!:jSpent a bit last night on a round for us all which I wanted to do as it was money I didnt expect but kept a bit for me too.
Beginning to wonder if there is something odd about me in that I have no problem doing stuff for myself and having lovley me time. :rotfl:Seriously Dusty, you need to try it. Yep you do all your chores now but who's going to do them if you get ill from tiredness?!
Greenbee/Dora I am quite religious about only working my hours and taking time back after travelling etc. I only sell clothes and no one will die if they dont get a new frock so I'm not up for worrying about it in my spare time. In its box it goes.
Loved the chat about the drinks and the vomiting on a small animal! We stayed in the halls at our old uni last night and it was a right old trip down memory lane. Fab fun and yep, we did discuss Peach Concorde, Diamond White, Diamond Blush, Castaway and Babycham :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:We all took a pole and lap dancing class in the afternoon which was brilliant. I was rubbish with the pole but loved the rest! Gave one of my old mates a lapdance at the end of the class and she said it was the highlight of the week for her :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Cheri, I think that was my personal development for yesterday
Going to blitz the house so I can sit down for The Apprentice at 9 X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Sounds like you need to give the rest of us some coaching on work/life balance souk
glad you had fun and congrats on the win.
Tile samples ordered. The postman will hate me nearly as much as he does when my cake-decorating stuff arrives!
Might head off to bed. It's been a fairly unproductive day, I've had no exercise and eaten rubbish this afternoon so need to snap out of it and get my act together. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.0 -
Souk, now THAT is what I call personal development. I wouldnt mind a bit of that (pole dancing lessons that is not lapdances from you........... ahem not that lapdancing lessons from you would be a bad thing.............. oh dear where's me shovel and bottle of merrydown when I need it
)
Speaking of drinking, I once bribed by brother with a glass of merrydown if he didnt tell my Mum that I was drinking it in my room whilst getting ready to go out. He had one glass and then fell down the stairs rotten drunk. He was 9 at the time
Oh and then there was the time that I was on a caravanning holiday and I was trying to drink some english wine that tasted like pop and was vile so I put it into my cocker spaniels dish who loved it, he asked for more so I gave him more. He then spent the whole night falling over and hiccuping. Throughout the night in the caravan I kept hearing hic, bump, crash, snore. Not funy reallySome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

Hi all,
Greenbee/Dora I am quite religious about only working my hours and taking time back after travelling etc. I only sell clothes and no one will die if they dont get a new frock so I'm not up for worrying about it in my spare time. In its box it goes.
Technically my contract says to work "hours necessary in order to fulfil his/her professional obligations and commensurate with the post" - so I technically have no actual work hours, although the boss would be shocked if I wasn't there in front of my class each day!
Am going to shuffle my work life balance around so that Sunday night is free from now on as I have enjoyed relaxing tonight:TMortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170 -
Agreed Greenbee but there is a particular sunday night culture among teachers (well the ones I know personally) and it has been really getting me down as realistically I am at my slowest on a sunday and then the work takes too long so I stupidly stay up late which then starts the whole week off badly and I never seem to recover. I don't mind working some time in the holidays as I usually do but am planning to get really ahead of lots of faffy bits this summer so that my sundays can be my own again - I NEED pamper time and chill time more regularly (then I will look and feel gorgeous)
OOO look another me!
That is exactly what I am doing now. Right now infact. As in the working on a Sunday night. Decluttering the conservatory and found a whole pile of work I should have marked but haven't. Am so angry with myself.
have a good week folks xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Oh Buffy that's crappy - deep breath and remember your summer break is galloping towards you fast.
Our schools are already off - we return in the second week in August. So up with the sparrows this morning making a huumus and pitta bread picnic for four. Mum and I are are taking the boys to "Dynamic Earth" in Edinburgh today -although I think DS2 is more excited that he is going on the train.
Mum has her travel pass - so gets to the border with Fife and then tops up her fare to do the Edinburgh hop. If I buy a return ticket then both kids go free because its the holidays so its the best time to do these trips.
Usual Golf lesson on Tuesday morning. Splashing out on DS1 to see Harry Potter on Wednesday cheapie matinee, then they are off on Thursday to the Aquarium courtesy of my Mums best friend. DS2 has got discount tickets to a kids show on Saturday matinee and DS1 is heading off for a bike ride and sleep-over at the weekend.
So I think they have a busy week ahead of them - hopefully I will get lots of work done around the running around and dropping them off.
Two hours and we need to be out he door for our "Edinburgh Adventure" - better go and get a holiday wiggle on.
Have a great Monday Matrixettes

Morning Matrix...
Loved reading about the upsets with alcohol... does anyone remember Blastaways? Diamond White and Castaway in a pint pot. Bluergh.Really did it for me in the early 90's though!! I don't drink at all now. Thank heavens. Don't think my liver could survive the abuse!
At work for last week before holiday time...! We are only away for 5 nights I think it is, but I couldn't be more excited. Romantic getaway for 2 nights with hubby in a little lodge just outside the New Forest and then equally Romantic getaway in a spa hotel and seeing my parents. The latter is duty, the former is pleasure!!Just organising hubby's birthday presents and cards at the moment. I have wrapped up the ones which have already arrived, and I am waiting for 3 books from Amazon. Hopefully they will be delivered by the time we go off on holiday.
Busy week ahead as we are in the process of preparing for year end. Ah, what a lovely time of year. If you listen carefully you might hear the sarcasm dripping from my voice!

Ah buffy, hope you got things finished!
Crickett, your break sounds lovely! :T :T About time too :T
MG - what a lovely sounding day! :T :T
I'm at work, with a pile of things to do - first of all one that I should have finished on Friday. Deep breaths and 15 minutes at a time, and I'm going to FINISH that before I even THINK about anything else. One thing at a time!0 -
Morning all
Feel like it is the end of the day already. Poor DH did not sleep well with his eye problems - he has been dispatched to Moorfield eye hospital (I cannot play optical nurse anymore, I cannot see anything in there but it is not right). Then I had to play nurse to DS3's very nasty oozing graze from his fall after running a sports day trial; I have the hugest supply of first aid stuff so his dressing is all changed too.
MG hope you have a good day out
Cricket Hope you and DH have a lovely time
Souk you are right, I used to be good at me time, before being married, having 3 kids, 3 cats, some part time work and role as a school governor. I enjoy all of those roles so it is not all drudgery. I shall try over the school holidays to spend some time each day reading etc. I have found time last week for all the personal maintenance (nails, feet, defuzzing etc) which were required so I'm trying.
Time to eat a frog and defrost the freezer before dashing up to school with the PE kit I forgot to pick up.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
