Bitsy - sorry you're feeling like that. Yes, it does sound like a panic attack - this is my advice:
- rebreathe your outbreaths (i.e., breathe into a paper bag) - you need to lower the level of oxygen in your blood, especially if you have pins and needles kind of thing.
- the stress is releasing lots of adrenalin - so give it something to do, go for a really fast walk for 20 minutes or something.
- remember to keep hydrated.
- I don't eat fatty foods when I feel like that, but thats a personal one, don't know if its general.
Olive! Hello!
Having just come back, I'm off for a week's holiday - I expect it will be a new thread when I get back.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Bitsy, this may not be much help but when I feel like that I do one of these (or even both):
1) I sit comfortably close my eyes and start imagining calming landscapes in bright colours and sunshine. When a bit calmer I start repeating to myself 'all is well, all is well...'. Mad I know but helps.
2) I put my shorts on a go for a long slow run.
Thinking of you

Thanks ladies, can't go for a run as just me and kids at the moment. Weirdly don't feel like crying which is my normal avenue for stress relief. Think I will go and sit in garden for a bit and try the breathing into a paper bag with some visualisation.
It's not like me to be on the verge of cracking up.....not sure how it's come to this.........I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -

Hi guys
Sorry I've not been round much, but I've been working simply stupid hours and have had family staying round for two weeks straight, plus a civil ceremony to attend.
My work experience has been extended for another week. I'm not sure if this is a good thing as they like me, or if it means that they are more likely to dump me in a week instead of offering me a contract. To be honest, tonight I am too tired to care, and I have to work 8-5 tomorrow as well. And I have family over to entertain.
Hugs to all who need them, and I'll be back to bring my *coughs* ahem, "expertise" to the table. See you later. *Waves furiously*0 -
Friday at very long last:j
Bitsy sorry you're having a bad time today - hope you can destress soon. Well done Thrifty's ds and well done Willow too.
Dh has taken littlies to school fair and we now have a table full of tat (dd blatantly cheats at tombola!) and two very happy children - and I have a bottle of wine as a result.
House is boggin' so going to put ipod on and start on the upstairs while dh plays with ds - dd needs to help as her room seems to have exploded onto the landing:eek:Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000

Only one more week to go Dorastar :j.
Yay to another week of work experience Sunflower, it's further increasing your skills :T. If no contract is on offer, remember to ask for a written reference from them.
Bitsy hope you are feeling better as it is a wee while since you posted. Slowing your breathing and increasing the carbon dioxide in your blood is impt. I have been known to cup my hands over my nose and mouth and breathe, concentrating as KC said on the out breath, trying to make it as long as possible. Another tip is to actually look at something (I also say what I am looking at silently in my head) eg green grass, blue sky, broken door handle, anything it doesn't matter... Did you know you cannot actually look at something and experience emotion in that instant - something to do with the way the brain processes information. So what you are doing is interrupting the floods of intense emotion. Take care of you.0 -
Helpful ideas re the panic attacks. I knew about the paper bag thingy, but didn't have one when I needed it, next time (hopefully not) I'll cup my hands and breathe into them:)
Went to see my sis and unburden and DS2 called me for a long chat at last.
Feel a lot better now.
DD is doing a Boot sale for me tomorrow (need a fainting icon here :rotfl:)
DS2 will come and help me in the loft this week......
At least this worry has helped me shed 4lbs :rotfl:0 -
Hope you're feeling better Bitsy.
Good to see you OO ... Let's hope we can finally get the K4K stuff sorted! Next time we try something like this we'll at least know what realistic timescales look like!
Like Crickett I have now invested in vast quantities of food... Mostly vegetables and a bit of fruit. So it is now in the kitchen adding to the clutter. I really hope I finish this presentation tonight so I feel I can actually get on with house stuff tomorrow
I think I'll probably be here for a while tonight :cool:0 -
Bitsy, hope you're feeling better now, and TMIF hope your tablets are kicking in!! Fantastic news Thrifty!
Hi OO*waves* I have been given a couple of extra football shirts would it be easier if I posted them direct? PM me the address if so.
I'm madly trying to pack for a small festival I'm going to for the weekend, so in a mad rush, shame about the weatherI'll be mostly wearing waterproofs me thinks
Don't all move without telling me over the weekend and hugs and positive vibes for all who need them x
