Finished the presentation at around 1am and sent it for review. Dread to think what state it is in as I kept falling asleep towards the end, but at least it is gone. Today I have to get the house sorted out for visitors. My food shopping is put away and I had fruit juice and scrambled egg with spring onion and red pepper for breakfast. I've prepped apricots to stew and freeze so need to shower, dress and make scones and a cake while clearing up downstairs enough to clean it before making a start on upstairs. However, my dad may be sleeping on the sofa bed if I can't get things under control.

Oh... And I have to work out what to feed him for supper... Better inspect my freezer list...

I guess the rain is giving me the chance to focus!

    Morning All.
I have been working away so not yet read back over the thread. However I have just done my 20 minute personal development slot (its my way of nurturing myself on a Saturday morning) on how to be happy!.

Crickett I just watched this and I couldn't help but think about you and some of the things that we have talked about on here in the past. This is really interesting for all of us I think. Some of us I know are already there.

Back later, off to do my next bit of development

Woohoo 6 weeks and 1 day clean of cigarettes, so I decided to reward myself. Went of to town at half 8 this morning, and returned with 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of skinny jeans, 2 jackets, 3 jumpers and a dressy shirt. Yay go me, all for £50 (sales and Primarni). I deserve it, this is my time and if OH doesnt like it tough. He wastes his spare cash on smoking so hard cheddar lol.

Theres a diary on here called F* off I'm fabulous, and thats what springs to mind this morning. (not meant rudely honestly lol).

Just decided I've had it with not doing what I want to do, and the only person who can change it is ME. I've worked really hard at not smoking and its the hardest thing I've ever done probably, so will continue to reward myself when I reach milestones.
I cant make OH stop smoking, but I can stop letting him make me feel guilty about having extra cash. I earned it, I saved it and I gave up a really bad habit to have it.

Right now I've said out loud the justifications, that frog is munched, Yay go me.
    Welcome back Cheri (hows Moo)?
Bitsy I hope the party goes well and that the weather is kind to you
abnd that you manage to get some ME time when its all over and done with.

Positive vibes to all who need them, hugs too.
You are ALL AMAZING, celebrate it girls xxxxxxxxx:T:T:T

Off to have a lovely hot soak in the bath now

Honestly though I love shopping early, the shops are just open, and there is no one else around, you can move, no hassle in the changing rooms, and no queues lol, and no traffic, its easy to find a parking space. Sorted lol

    Do DS1 & DS2 like dogs MG?

    Morning all

Fantasia well done on stopping smoking and I'm so glad you treated yourself. I remember a poster on OS Soappie having the line 'I am the leading lady in my own life story' as her signature, I loved it.

MG how old is your DS1? Is he as golf mad as mine? Mine plays at the same club as Tom Lewis and has lessons with his Dad. He is off to the wet open tomorrow.

Greenbee well done for getting one presentation done. Are you heading my way over summer? It would be lovely to meet up for a cuppa.

Organised this morning. Took DS2&3 to their squash club at 9 and went straight on to the next town. The library had a book I wanted to borrow for my holiday on the shelves. Got 2 for me and 2 more of the set texts for DS1's A level so he has plenty to read too :D

Off to hoover out my wardrobe now and sort my chest of drawers - I have one hour before I need to get the Ark out to go to the squash club.

Organised me bought new White polos for DS3 for September, I've got 7 weeks to sew the names tags in.

Enjoying doing slightly different things, listened to a different radio station on the way to the different library from my home town one. Small things but add a little variety.

    Morning all,

Well I've just done my storecupboard list and it's not great:
    1 pack of Frosties,
    1/2 pack of chocolate Weetabix,
    Cadburys drinking chocolate,
    Flour,
    Baking Soda,
    1 can of chopped tomatoes,
    1 can of pineapple,
    6 tins of tuna,
    1 tin of baked beans,
    8 eggs,
    Mango chutney,
    Ketchup,
    Mayonnaise,
    4 litres of semi-milk,
    About 100ml of cream,
    Tiny amount of cucumber,
    Half a red cabbage,
    Soft cheese,
    Cheddar cheese,
    Some salad dressings,
    200g dairy milk chocolate.

    Freezer:
    Small amount of sweetcorn/green beans/chips,
    Bag of fruit salad

    That's it :(

Oh please can we do a group trip to Nepal? I have always wanted to go hiking on Himalayas :j

Dorastar - grrr to the thieving b@stards

Fantasia - so well done with the not smoking, I quit 20 years ago and I describe definitely as a non smoker. I am of the worst variety who can't stand the smell at all.

TMIF - hugs to you - hope you feel better soon
Got an email this morning that said:

    Women are Angels.

And when someone breaks our wings,

we simply continue to fly....on a broomstick.

    We are flexible like that

    Thought of you lot :D

    Brilliant :rotfl: :T

OliveOyl - I agree with Trifty, don't carry other people's monkeys, hand them back to them. Only advice I have really is to chunk down. Write down all the things that need doing, which ones you can affect and which you can't and then do small step plan for those tha you can do something about. - read further now: glad it is all starting to unravel :)

Willow - good luck for the meeting, the more prepared you are the less time you have to worry and the better it will go

    Trifty - fabulous stuff :)

HERE link to recent Panorama program about car insurances. Makes your blood boil.

Bitsy - glad you are feeling better and you are right you need to look after yourself. Could you schedule going for a walk in the evenings when DH is home with the kids, even just for a half an hour. To explore and chill.

Cheery - considering the weather her I think you got a lucky break

I am feeling a bit less introvert today. Hoping that a weekend taken easy will restore some of my energy.

What age should I be able to expect DD (almost 7 years old) to show initiative in brushing teeth and hair and getting ready for school without constant nagging from me? I remember at that age doing all that and making sure I had things I needed for school myself. What about making a series of pictures of things she need to do in the morning and then she can give herself a tick every time she has done them?

Also I and DD share the interest in biology and animals, are there any online or other kind of resources I could use to teach her? I am not a playing mum and that would be nice thing to do togehter. Also I would like to do some maths with her so any ideas for resources gratefully received.

Hmm - my DSS aged 9 still needs reminding every morning and every evening to brush teeth, wash face etc. Actually it goes as far as a reminder to flush the toilet and wash hands too. If we include the reminders to put dirty washing in washing basket and take cups back to the kitchen, then the reminders are never ending. To be fair though, we are fighting a full time battle on part-time hours as we only have a few times a week and his mum doesn't follow the same pattern / rules / discipline as us! Oh well - it can only get better!
