Waves at Kittikins
A very sodden Thrifty reporting in - oh my, did dd and I get caught in the [STRIKE]rain[/STRIKE] monsoon or what. Well in spite of having no money, I have just been shopping for 6th form clothes for dd - did very well in the River Island and TK Maxx sales :money:. Well it makes sense to buy now rather than pay inflated prices for the new season stock in September. Just need to do some financial jiggery-pokery as this is budgeted for, only not this month :rotfl:.0 -
Anyone over on the other side for a while? I could do with some helpBoiler pot £30.92/£10000

Feeling bleurgh but got heaps of school stuff to get done and got to visit Manchester Museum of Science and Industry to risk assess it for a school visit on Tuesday - feel much more like heading back under duvet but only 10 more days to go before hols.
I met another CM who suggested in future places I've not been before to contact and ask them to send a copy of their RA. Might be worth trying and save you a trip???I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

My poor little doggy is going to have to go to the vet tomorrow, DH has just bathed him and he is skin and bones, he has lost loads of weight, so I think this may be the one way visit we are all dreading.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000

losing as much weight as he has, in a short time, indicates he is not well at all, he sleeps most of the time now, doesn't hear us when we call him and I don't think he can see very well.
so I think it is cruel trying to keep him with us It will be sad, but better for Jack.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Poor ol' Jack. Nasty for you - but better for him... (Vets don't usually tell you that now is the time - but they give hints, if you know what I mean, and they will definitely tell you if you don't need to yet.)
At least we're allowed to do it for our pets

Hugs for you Claire. Hard as it is, it's the most merciful final thing we can do for our furries at the end of their days. But a huge wrench, and I'll be sending love and light to you and Jack tomorrow.

Hi Maxtrixettes
I have had a sign from the Universe today and need to share it as it involves all of us.
I have been catching up from last week when I read a post by Willow who asked whether you can be too proud to claim benefits. MG replied that she had claimed benefits and saw it as a hand up instead of a hand out.
I was nodding my head at this as it is a good way of looking at it.
Then DH comes over to me with today’s News Of The World – not my choice of paper really but as you all know today is the last edition and all adverts are by charities with no charge. DH points one out to me called Pennies For Life from the Microloan Foundation.
It sounded interesting so I went to the website www.penniesforlife.org.uk which then lead me to the charity which is www.microloanfoundation.org.uk .
Basically Microloan Foundation give loans to ladies in sub-Saharan Africa to start a business to be able to feed their families to build a better future for them and their community.
I then started reading all the stuff on both websites and found a comment from the CEO who said that what they offer is not a hand out but a hand up.
So surely to read the same thing in two totally different places is a sign and of course these are ladies trying their best for a better life which is exactly what we are about.
So you can either give them pennies via Facebook/Twitter or can give a donation via Paypal but on the main website you can actually sponsor a group of women from a certain area of Malawi.
The minimum amount to sponsor is £5 per month. This is what the website says about sponsorship donation:- £5 per month can fund training and start up capital for one woman
- £10 per month can buy a sewing machine to train a woman new skills
- £20 per month can fund irrigation training and supplies to make a farm more profitable
- £50 per month will help fund a motorbike to allow up to 300 women to access our services
Not really sure how it would work but thought it might provoke some good discussion.

Could I also ask for positive thoughts tomorrow, my poorly cat who is not yet 2 has a problem with his leg so tomorrow he is having an operation to remove his hip joint as it is crumbling away due to a type of arthiritis likely caused by a car accident/blunt force injury from months ago (not that we know of any).
He has been poorly with his legs for a few months but we have been treating him with different meds but a new vet I saw suggested an x-ray which he had on Friday and this showed the damage.
I won't mention the cost as it is irrelevent, DH say he will put it on his credit card whereas I know I have enough between all the accounts to be able to pay on our debit card (not overdraft) :T
Thanks guys
