Beencounting wrote: »Ok, so inspired by The Secret, my challenges..er...goals for May will be:
(in no particular order)
1..to achieve sales of £500
2..to buy myself a Fiesta Garden Chair
3..to reduce target CC balance to £4,100
4..to increase savings to £1,750 (these are all committed to other things, so can't be used against the CC)
5..to grow some radishes and salad leaves
Last day of April, so some forward planning is needed to get going on my May goals.
I've had a look at our budget for the month (which is very tight), and should be able to keep us within our means, assuming no hiccups! Which then leaves us clear to use any extra cash generated to go to savings & CC.
So today, I need to:
* consolidate and weed my customer lists in readiness for a 'mailing'
* make contact with customer who's booked in for next week
* search out some stuff for ebay for OH to prep (this is his contribution to the goals)
* drool over my garden chair to remember why I'm doing the extra work
* find out what to do with the radish seeds, which DD1 bought for me this week
I've also got some bits and pieces together to make a 'vision board' for my May goals (which is basically some pictures, quotes and reminders which I'll stick into my goals book...this having been woefully neglected over the last year or so).
Think I need to get dressed first though...:rotfl:

Why is it that, even with most stuff being dealt with online, as soon as you clear one lot of paperwork someone delivers yet more?
Postal vote completed... expenses submitted and paperwork filed in my work bag, DVLA paperwork for work done, investment voting form done, drains insurance excess about to have the cheque written, and then I WILL go to the post box and get them out of the way!
After that... 6 big holes to dig so my planting is finally done...0 -
Just caught up, wow things happen quickly here when you are away for a day lol.
Just an observation but with regard to Mentors etc, I dont even think you need the mentors MG.
Lordy, you could mentor other people with what you've done, the experience you have, the way you motivate people on the thread.
I know they are meant to guide you, but it hasnt gone the way it was meant to, things happen, etc. Just a thought but are they really necessary, what have they actually done for you apart from the advice?. You know where you are going, and you know exactly how you are going to get there which is more than a lot of us do, well me particularly.
But you seem to be doing damn well under your own steam.
Just an observation, you will do whats right for you, but they dont seem to understand.
Mr Big seems to have stood aside for Mrs Big, just wonder what they have in store for you>0 -
Matrix - positive, calming vibes needed please.
We have a house full of teenagers for a gaming night for dd's 16th birthday. Ds is hiding upstairs in his bedroom with the door locked and his headphones on - so wish I could go and join him:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
Really interesting points about women and working. In the past dh and I have worked full-time 50+ hour a week jobs. We have paid other people for childcare and to do the decorating, gardening, cleaning & laundry. Food was always eating out or ready meals. Since giving up work to care full-time for ds, I most probably do 90%+ of the work around the home including all the decorating, gardening and cooking from scratch. So in effect, I guess I am like a mentor's wife (but without the family income perks such as a hired pa)....
but I am like MG... I want to work but....
it has to be based at home
it has to work around ds's care needs
for the most part, there is only me to do all the home jobs as we can no longer afford to pay anyone else to do these jobs....
So developing a patchwork style of living & working from home has to be the way forward because I am finding that the less money we have the more difficult it is for me to work.
Waffle over - off to cook some grub for some very noisy teenagers, Thriftyxxx0 -
Why can't you say that you are a business woman? !
I agree with you, Cheri - a business woman with an integrated portfolio of skills.fantasia322 wrote: »Just a thought but are they really necessary, what have they actually done for you apart from the advice?. I agree with Fantasia too (Goodness, I am feeling agreeable this evening!!!) I would be asking myself whether I felt nearer to achieving my goals as a result of the mentoring process to date than I would be likely to be without the experience. What is the 'profit/loss' balance of the experience at this point?
Yes - I know - if the devil ever needs an advocate............
Anyway _ I have frogs lined up over the next couple of days -
- Car insurance quotes through comparison sites
- Report of a meeting to write up
- Study/Craft room to clear out
- Credit card receipts to enter into budget programme
that's the first tranche. More to follow when these are done.

why not call it a mosaic?
That can be a work of art.
And well constructed mosaics are good for a lifetime or moreIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
