Evening ladies - Ithink I am back online OK now, time will tell.
I also think I have cracked how to add mind Maps to the blog - so impressed that I remembered how:p Don't all go rushing over there though cos MrF is reading it and sorting the embarrassing typos - of which there are always a few silly ones. He will post when he has sorted me out.
Off to read back and find out what I have missed today.

SunFlower - you can only quote 3 posts at a time.
... And 8.30 - 17.30 isn't a long work day sadly, although it's a long time to stay sitting down. Volunteer to get the coffees/teas (not pay!), volunteer to take things to other departments/floors/buildings. If anyone wants a meeting, go to them or meet in the coffee bar if you have one. Print one page a a time if necessary!
Try to get out for some daylight at lunchtime. It's hard, but worth it. Even if you tke lunch with you, claim you need to nip out for something (a stamp/posting a letter or whatever). Now you know why so many people don't quit smoking... It's the onl time they get away from their desks!
In Vienna. It's lovely. Lots of nice buildings, art and cake. Just need to do some work, clean my teeth and sleep!0 -

Boo and double boo - it blummin' well should be!
I think, more than anything, it's a different way of working: I'm used to 8 hours on my feet, running up and down stairs (except for breaks), so it's a bit of a culture shock to be expected to sit down for most of the day. How do you all manage it? And how will I manage it without my derriere expanding to gargantuan proportions?! :rotfl:
I will see how it goes. Particularly with regard to lunches: I think I'm more productive when I have a break, or just a change of scenery.
Cor, I sound like a teenager whingeing about having to grow up! :rotfl:
I hope you enjoy your cakes, architecture and stay abroad, greenbee: I hear very good things about Vienna.
And Parsnip: what a beautiful baby Parsnip - congratulations!:rotfl:

(((Crickett))))))) Don't know whether this is of any use to you - but I've only recently started working full time in 1 job - before that I had a full time PhD plus anything up to 4 jobs at a time, all mostly casual/various amounts of hours. I LOVE my job - but what I don't like is the amount of my time that I spend thinking about it - just because it's the main bulk of my activity.
I don't work over my hours, and generally don't think about it too much outside of my hours - but 37 (or whatever) hours a week is, for me, TOO MANY to think about one thing.
What's working for me is having plenty of other things to diffuse the thinkingSo gardening, and new flute lessons, and running, and a bit of swimming, and visiting, and and and... Might work something along the lines of the 'crowding out' principle of healthy eating
Well done on the weight loss fantasia! :T :T Do you think it's all the extra activity you've been doing??
I've just been to slimming world - another 1lb off, meaning 5lbs in total :T :T Nice and slowly, but that means I can eat plenty of cake along the way :rotfl: :rotfl:
Cheery, you and I are SO on the same page, albeit in different countries! :rotfl:0 -
Mornng peeps - another early start here chez MG. Useful writing and thinking time before the boys start to stir.
Big Froggie today is looking for a school for my soon to be 11 yr old. My first choice (by heart) may not be quite so suitable. I had a very full, frank and honest discussion with the HT (I know her) and she has pointed out that her class for his age group may not be appropriate for a few reasons.
So time to cast the net a little wider.
In the meantime - back to some writing

Morning all. Had a lovely night's sleep and a sleep in and have done some minor chores so I don't feel guilty sitting on the sofa stitching for the rest of the day. Had a big long think about life, the universe and working and decided that it is time I make a change to my own attitude. I don't really care about anyone else, I only care about me and my actions. If I am doing the best I can at my work, then that is all that matters. What happens in the politics, or with the people in my team, I don't really care. I think a proper holiday would be useful too... but unfortunately I am not going to be able to take that until the end of July. I can cope. I have my stitching, I have here, and the universe is with me.
Amazing what a good night's sleep does for you!
Also, I think I might be depressed. Going to talk to my homoeopath on Thursday of this week, and then I might go to the doctor if she thinks she can't help me. No point struggling along feeling rubbish all the time when I can get help and feel better."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Hi crickett hon
Enjoy your day - and I don't know if you are depressed, thats for you and your med team to work out between you, but ................
.............sounds to me like you got a huge case of "is this all there is" itis. You sound like I did as I was marching doggedly up a steep steep hill towards a crossroads in my life. The good news is once you get there the view is lovely - the choices become much clearer ........... and they way ahead is all downhill and so much easier.
I think disatisfaction with any area of our life is our brain shouting out "pay attention love - something needs to be looked at here" - and I am ALL for personal responsibility (having kicked my own bahookie on my blog last night:rotfl:)
Good luck with your thinking day

Oh Crickett - take care of yourself and I hope your new different way of thinking helps xx
MG - good luck with the school hunt.
Sunflower - congrats on your first day at work - agree with Greenbee that getting up and away from the desk essential (will try not to go into my rant about whether any job really requires you to work all day without a break - I think it's counterproductive in the long run...)
Sunflower and Cheery have between them hit the nail on the head about what is doing my head in with work at the moment - I hate sitting still all day, and I hate work taking over my thoughts. Doing other things (second job, studying, gardening, volunteering stuff) definitely helps.. also keep trying to remember what my counsellor told me - my current job is what I do to earn money, I'm not paid to think about it after 5pm, and it is not who I am.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
