Woohoo to weightloss. I havent really been concentrating on this because of the nicotine issue, but someone made a comment today about me looking thinner. I laughed cos have been eating like a sow and 10 greedy piglets, but I did notice my waistband is a little loose. Just got off the scales and since started back at the shop (was 10 stone 2 then) have dropped to 9 stone 6, thats a month and a bit now. Way to go, me. 8lbs off and size 10 jeans are fitting, size 8 here I come.:rotfl::D

WOW to weightloss, lottery wins and ex smokers. What a lot of good news on here today.

Well my friends wedding was fab and the dress went up, but just. Need a radical overhaul in July once my sis has gone back. She's doing great and thoroughly enjoying her holiday. Did lunch and she did some shopping today and we're back home now waiting for her friend coming up for tea. Its an M and S treat thanks to mum so no cooking involved. Good job as Im tired after my weekend X

  • Glad you enjoyed the wedding Souk. Congrats on lottery win robsmum.

I too have good news that I can share - I finally have an office / craft space all-of-my-own :j:j:j. A space in the house just-for-me, no sharing it with anyone else, not using the kitchen table, or a work-top, or hubbies desk, or in a through area, but an out of the way corner all of my own where I can set stuff up and leave it out :T:T:T. Can you tell I'm a little, well a lot excited :D.

Okay this is a true MSE table and will need to be sanded and painted but this is the first step of many in turning our house into an asset :T.

Oh dear, I agree with you both. I found myself asking what this noise was this morning. It was being described as music, it was in fact the screeching of two words over and over again. Or are we just getting old?

Just waiting for my tea to finish baking. I have made a storecupboard lasagne and I am very pleased with it. Not part of my menu plan but I needed to relax and nothing better than cooking a nice tea from scratch.

Oh Gawd... what a pig awful day I have had.

Not much more to add except I have a day off tomorrow and I am going to forget that work exists. Just for one day.

I need to try and come up with some survival strategies. I can't keep going to work and hating it so much. And unfortunately, I can't just up and leave and tell them to sit and swivel. No matter the temptation. I have tried bubbles, i have tried visualisation, I have tried all kinds of stuff, and still, it is not working. Any other ideas? I am currently thinking of flame throwers and TNT, just so you know where my mind is at. :D Maybe I am too sensitive to people, and so I feel like they are ignoring me when they probably aren't. I don't know. What I am going to do tonight is write it all down in a word document, and then not send it anywhere. I might use it in my PDR though. Depends on the number of rude words in it!

    Sorry for the rant.

Sounds lovely re the table thrifty. Have you been on the shabby chic thread? Very inspiring! :D

Stayed up late-ish and got up early-ish to finish one frog and got another one to eat tonight. Work day ok and dh got 'coach of the month' at his place so gets an extra £50 in his next wage packet - which he will then have to spend on his speeding fine (doh!) But at least he is still doing well in his new-ish job and still loves it and they love him:beer:

Since today is career day and I have Monday nights as tv free I should be able to get down to eating frog fairly quickly once icklies are snoring. Am really quite excited by idea of having just one frog and one focus each day and saying sod off to everything else - think this is very empowering (for me anyway) as I often get overwhelmed by the sheer number of tasks I need to do and as a result fail to get started on any of them.

Wish I could help crickett, I have the same problem. What worked for about six months was to get a 2nd job that I was really interested in, just for a few hours a week. Okay I'm running around like a crazy whatsit doing both but the balance helps me cope with the boredom in my original job.

    Hi all,

I've decided that the easiest way to not miss anyone out is to multi-quote all your interesting comments, but it only seems to have MQd a few of them. Is there some limit to how many you can do at a time? Loads of them don't seem to have come out.
I suspect because much of the music business doesn't revolve around 'music' these days :D

Go you! Most people I know who give up smoking put on weight instead. Well done! :T

crickett, I don't know what to say. Are there any more jobs you could do, even part-time, so you could drop to PT where you currently work? Or do they know this is how bad you feel? Can you talk to your boss or anything? I'm not sure how much of your story I've missed. *Hugs*

Thifty: I like the sound of that table, particularly as it's yours in every sense of the word. ;)

I need to do something about the weightloss as well, and I think I need some clothes for work: the advantage of having spent the last two years wearing a uniform (however horrible), means that I haven't had to worry about what to wear to work. Now I have to think about it. And I refuse to fork out loads of cash before I slim into all my lovely clothes in the next size down. Argh! :rotfl:

Mr. Doctor has confirmed tennis elbow, and I'm back from my first day at work: it looks like it will be long hours - 08.30-17.30 - with no apparent lunch hour as everyone just eats at their desk, but I will see how it goes as I've only had one day to get an impression. And they were kind enough to take us newbies out for lunch, which was nice. :)

Take care. Have to buy some clothes and go for a work to walk off all the calories I no longer get rid of during the day due to the fact that I sit at a desk all day. :p

P.S. MG: yes, that was a bargain for the bento boxes: well done!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :D indeed sunflower :D :rotfl:

(((Crickett))))))) Don't know whether this is of any use to you - but I've only recently started working full time in 1 job - before that I had a full time PhD plus anything up to 4 jobs at a time, all mostly casual/various amounts of hours. I LOVE my job - but what I don't like is the amount of my time that I spend thinking about it - just because it's the main bulk of my activity.

I don't work over my hours, and generally don't think about it too much outside of my hours - but 37 (or whatever) hours a week is, for me, TOO MANY to think about one thing.

What's working for me is having plenty of other things to diffuse the thinking :D So gardening, and new flute lessons, and running, and a bit of swimming, and visiting, and and and... Might work something along the lines of the 'crowding out' principle of healthy eating :D

Well done on the weight loss fantasia! :T :T Do you think it's all the extra activity you've been doing??

I've just been to slimming world - another 1lb off, meaning 5lbs in total :T :T Nice and slowly, but that means I can eat plenty of cake along the way :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey Fantasia, how is Leyla doing and is it all that dog walking that is making you lose weight? Hope that you are eating properly and taking care of yourself. Tis highly unusual for somebody to be losing weight when stopping smoking. You take care.
