Wow Robsmum, well done you, Isnt it amazing what the Universe provides,
Today I am 17 days CLEAN OF CIGARETTES, and am having bad side effects of the decreased nicotine. Increased tiredness, lack of concentration, and other oddities that are all to do with nicotine. I have gone off meat, tastes and smells vile. Think I am going to have to learn a new kind of normality. I guess it was kind of silly to think that things would feel the same, my brains been full of toxins for the past 30 years, and suddenly all the receptors are clearing and TBH its a little strange. Oh well, just have to get used to it because there is no going back now.
30 to 40 cigarettes a day right down to only 21mgs of nicotine replacement must be a big drop. Other half has cut his smoking down by three quarters because he can't be bothered going to the back door or outside to smoke, and DSS has stopped smoking in front of me as well, so every little helps.
Positive vibes and hugs to all who need them. xxx
ETA Welcome back GQ, you've been soooooo missed (((hugs)))0 -

not sure what I could have done though - although I didn't check it was properly dead too closely - couldn't face bopping it on the head if it wasn't, and now I'm feeling bad

Ooops, does that make me hard-hearted and insensitive then...
It's not a normal morning Chez Moi unless I am ejecting half live mice and bopping them on the head if they are past the point of redemption!
Infact, I evicted one using !!!!!!'s slipper this morning. I am still deciding whether to tell him0 -
Sounds like everyones health will see an improvement thanks to your decision hon - that's got to make you feel great.
Chomped two froggies - off to do the next one!!! DS1 has decided he might like to look around the Primary Schools here in order to make up his mind if he wants to spend the next year being home-schooled or not. No decision made as of yet, but need to organise visits.
Part of me thinks it would be a good idea (socially) but perhaps not such a great idea (academically), but as the saying in this house goes "nothings forever". If he tries it and hates it we are no worse off.
Would give me more time to work on building my business I suppose

Sounds like DS1 is a young man who wants to explore all his options MG, and make an informed decision. I wonder where he learned that skill .........????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

No idea :rotfl::rotfl:
Think he feels a bit lonely TBH - the Home school network here is a bit patchy (and some parents a wee bit flakey). He's a lad that needs some certainty in his life so we will make a few trips out and explore his options.
First school that I managed to talk to the Head (not my first choice BTW) asked me why I was giving him an option anyway? I tried to explain that we have always considered his Education as a partnership between parents, teacher AND pupil - but I was completely Steam-rollered.
That'll teach me to phone on a Monday:rotfl:

Hi MG, I love the fact that DS wants to explore the options - sadly, not so surprised by the attitude of head teacher! I'm sure you'll (both) come to a good solution.
Congrats on the 17 days smoke free Fantasia - more than halfway to a whole month! :T
My weekend has consisted of studying and going to festivals/ markets.. oh and deciding to buy a share in a farm! Came across this amazing local project who are looking for investors, members and volunteers to own part of some land they are buying - the aim is to run it as a farm to provide veg boxes for about 200 families eventually. So excited!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

MG never, ever feel that you have to explain your decision to homeschool to anyone, you did what was best for DS1, hardly your fault that the Montessori School stopped taking his year group. And the aforementioned Head teacher would be eating her own mockery after meeting DS1. Little bit judgmental in my book, she's paid to run the school, not criticise parents of prospective pupils.0 -

Thanks Fantasia - my thoughts exactly.
BTW peeps - Fantasia has met the boys so she's not just being supportive, she knows what they are both like.
Just waiting to hear back from the smaller schol in the catchment area which think might be a better fit for DS1.
In the meantime .................. had a whizzer idea for the Blog.. Today is my "concentrate on my Career Day" - only I am still at the "figuring out what want to be when I grow up stage" so, I have created a mind-map of what is whizzing around my brain and will try to figure out how to include it in one of my posts.
Stand by for silly phone calls MrF :rotfl::rotfl:

What a rude comment MG! Hope you all figure it out - I bet they're just so used to kids being told what to do!
Well done on the shares Squizz - I think I may know the project you're on aboutProper cheery
I'm thinking of shares in community enterprise building thing saving old steel works from development and turning into community resource instead

Thank you for lovely support everyone.
Woohoo for lottery wins, non smokers, relaxing weekends, completed studies, looser fitting clothes and for everything else that I might have missed.
My computer has gone potty. I had this XP Antispyware highjacking my computer security. I have emailed the support but gone nothing back. So I am here online at my own risk.
Took DD this morning to see specialist nurse (about wetting). So I need to get this stubborn mule now to drink more and go to the toilet more often. I took her to school with a water bottle and managed to see her teacher to explain to her that she needs to finish it during the school hours. Also a chart will go to the after school club to mark every day that the bottle is empty. She has a bottle somewhere with her name on it so I must go and find it. I took half day off so won't need to go in until half one.
Other frog for the morning is to write an email to ex and forward it to Cafcass.
Oh and I have done little weight loss attempt myself in the quiet. I have lost 5 pounds during the first week."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
