Crickett, I think that you have made the right decison, it is too easy to try to deal with things yourself and then to get worse. Well done for recognising that this has happened. What a lovely husband you have. It would seem to me that he has allowed you the space to figure it out for yourself.
Thank you for the frank and honest post. There are a few things in the post that resonate with me. You have given me some food for thought and I will be thinking deeply about a few things over the next while.
I understand about being wary of telling your line manager but as TMIF says it is an illness - same as chicken pox, same as the flu it just cant bee seen and takes a bit longer to sort out. Definitely get a referral to the Occupational Health Nurse and let them do the talking to the line manager. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Ploddy old day today. Spent morning at another school getting advice about how to move maths on in our place, sometimes feels like a mountain to be moved but actually they had a lot of the ideas that are floating around in my head. I need to get them organised so am going to take some good advice from here and mind map my vision for what good maths will look like and then plot out how we will get there. Did it at my old school and had forgotten how useful it was - thanks for the reminder MG.
Just come in from a big Aldi shop - and half price meat from co-op £5 for three free range chickens! Have been grrrr at meat round here recently as it is all very pumped with water atm to cut costs and tastes rank. Hopefully these chickens, which are apparently vegetarian chickens, will be tasty and not shrink to nothing when they are cooked!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Happy Midsummer Eve Ladies
This is a night when I light a candle for all my friends I lost in the 80's to HIV Aids - we promised not to spend a year remembering them individually, so tonights the night we stop for a while and give thanks for the mad days.
So I'm raising a glass to absent friends and although I have connnected to this before, this is our Anthem.

Crickett big hugs to you. I've also been there too, as so many of us have, and taken the pills. As someone else here said it's nothing to be ashamed of, as my doctor said, depression is as common as a cold.
I don't know if it is something you have thought of, I think the pills are a great short term fix, but they won't fix the underlying problem which is causing the depression, so would you consider getting councelling or therapy? I won't go on about it too much, as I can get a bit 'born again' about therapy as I truly have got so much out of it, but I just thought it was worth a mention.
MG the blog's looking great, I love the mind map.0 -
Crickett look after yourself. I have never had it but have friends who do - on the other hand talking to a specialist is a good idea. I have felt a bit strange once, my GP gave me pills and they sent me into orbit (well more than usual). A friend who si GP then explained that there is a condition that is often mistaken for D but is not, it is distress - we have started operating at such high level of pressure that a little thing can send you over; which means that your body starts doing strange things. In my case I could not remember anything, was bumping into things and was feeling down.
The test question appears to be do you see a future? If the future looks like a big black mass - you do.
Take care

MG love that one and shed a wee tear there.
Crickett, great that you're getting help. Never had to take the pills myslef but friends do and staff have and no stigma here. Actually talking to them has helped me to realise what my triggers to feeling a bit down are and to deal with them before they get worse.
Off to text my lovely friend who has depression, so thanks for being so honest and I hope you get help soon.
All good here, never seen worse weather but enjoying having my sis over and seeing her again on Thursday along with my darling brother and his boyf. i think a bit of a daytime sesh is on the cards. Whoop!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Isn't it amazing how so many people can relate to what you are going through Cricket. Holding up my hand and admitting to being one who has suffered with depression or 'something' like it. I didn't have tablets, for some reason taking them would be admitting I was ill, but I did get referred to a lovely counselor who let me talk and rant about whatever, and I think that is what brought me through it, so maybe it would be worth considering. I have to say I still get days/weeks where I bottle it all up, but then I call my sister and use her as my counselor and it usually helps.
Sending you big hugs and positive vibes that you find 'your way' through this difficult time.Sealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21

Crickett - I needed anti ds after my son died and once again since then. It seems to me that the only way we can fight the misunderstandings about mental health issues is to talk about them. The more open we can be the more the myths can be dispelled.
You don't have to tell your boss if you don't want to, but if you do that will give her the opportunity to give you any support she can - and maybe take some of the pressure off you. Depends what sort of boss she is!!!!!!!
You get all the help and support you can. Depression is an illness and can be treated and you will recover. If you get the opportunity to go for what they now seem to call 'talking therapy' then that can be very efffective.
Let us know what happens. We're all here for you.
