All up and dh has gone off for a weekend of re-enacting some dungeons and dragons stuff (truly weird). Kids are already driving me nuts but I am a lot calmer about yesterday's work foul-up. At the end of the day I am not a brain surgeon or doctor and the mistake was genuinely a mistake and not cos I am stupid or incompetent and will just have to slog through the consequences as they happen. So am not going to commit harikari on a highlighter pen in the near future.

Frogs all listed and lined up ready to be munched in order of yuckiness.
    Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
    Emergency fund £1000/£1000
    Savings for big things £9017

Glad you're mobile again today MG - but take it gently

Confession time - took Diego down to Kingdom FMs "street party" wearing his kilt this morning - well - Dorgi's have a touch of royalty, don't they? They were impressed & took a picture for the fb page :o. DH will be mortified.....

And MG - we got our polling cards about a month ago but seem to be having other problems with our mail....

    Have a good day y'all

I do feel for you MG. I did my back in 10 days ago and I posted on the Tough thread about how frustrating it was because I wanted to get on with the gardening. But my osteopath talks about the 'Magic' three days - that's the time it takes for your muscles to think 'Is it safe now?' and come out of spasm. And it's true, it nearly is always three days and then it starts to get better. I just have to be patient - and CAREFUL. If you follow the usual pattern you should find it's a lot better tomorrow but DON'T OVERDO IT

Also be careful turning over in bed - I find it's quite common to set it off again that way because your muscles are warm and relaxed. Then as you turn over and one hip goes forward as the other hip goes back the rotation can upset your spine and the muscles go into spasm again. It's worth putting a pillow behind and in front of you so that you have to turn over carefully even in your sleep - it doesn't seem to disturb me, whereas waking up with a muscle spasm does, just a tad.

I had that happen just this week, because I hadn't bothered with putting a pillow behind me because I was feeling better, so there I was lying in bed at 4am clutching my knees to my chest and rocking from side to side. A weary and bemused voice from beside me said 'What ARE you doing?' But he was very good, got up and got me a cup of tea and a Nurofen and we both managed to get back to sleep. Fortunately doing the stretches straight away meant that I was able to stop the muscles going into lockdown.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Take it easy with your back MG. Glad to hear you are still working with the mentors - it'll certainly have been a different experience for them :rotfl:.

Today involves cleaning the bathroom and going shopping - wedding, what wedding :rotfl:.

    Have a good one folks

Thanks Maryb - my Doc here says the same. Normal service will BEGIN to be resumed in three days - but a week or two before back into the digging and lifting stuff. Try telling DS2 that "I wanna cuddle, Up!! Up!!!"

TBH I think it is the Universe sending me a message that I need to do some work taking care of my body - I used to love doing my Callanatics workout -so I think I will look out the old videos and set them where I will see them in two weeks when I can start them again.

No voting card here:mad: So I am throwing that on as my Frog for Tuesday ............ I wonder if there is somewhere online I can check. I'm pretty sure my voting station will be the same as last time - well I am practically at the back door of it IYSWIM.

One thing is for sure - there is NO WAY i am NOT voting.

Mum is due in about 30 minutes - she is coming to drop the doggie off as they are going off for the weekend. But she will be staying to see a bit of the wedding - so I guess we will turn it on at about quarter to eleven.

I have strange mixed feelings about it TBH. Quite protective of them because the Press played fair when they were spending their time in ST A and we often saw them wandering around quite happily. A little amprehensive - because I used the same gym as his Mum and saw her in tears a few times at the Press intrusion.

My feeling is that Kate is an educated young lady, who wasn't raised to be "just a young lady" IYSWIM. I'm hoping they will forge a life as "modern Royals" - like Sweden perhaps?

I'm more interested in watching the landmarks of London and pointing them out to the boys - as London in the sun can make me a little nostalgic (then of course I remember the mass of people, the dirt, the hold-ups and sheer grind of getting around the city and I am grateful that I can walk everywhere here)

Taking care of your body does sound like a good investment MG!

And hmm, interesting dilemmas about working with the mentors. I'm pleased that they're willing to work with you in the way that you need and want, rather than moving on to someone 'easier' when you didn't go along with their plans :D A good challenge for them too, and it sounds like they're recognising it! :T Well done :D They can probably learn lots from you, and who knows, might tell some of their future high flying mentees to take some of the domestic burden from their wives :rotfl:

Our voting cards arrived early April I think, been here weeks. I think you can usually vote without one as long as you're registered.

    Glad you're feeling better dorastar!

4 days off here :j :j (although I might end up working one of them - but that'll only be 3 days worked in a week and a half so I can't complain really :D) My plan is to do something to move forward with each area of y goals list :j :j Will update on progress :D

First up - pancakes :D Not on the goals list, but fun, and entirely necessary for fortification :D

Does anyone know if it's illegal for me to send DS1 (aged ten) around to the supermarket with my debit card to pick up some bits n bobs today?

Obviously he would have my permission and he knows my PIN number.

Just know that I am not able to walk around there myself

No idea, although I suspect they'd not let him, depends what they're like! Could you send him to the cash machine instead?

Or is there a shop you could ring in advance and explain the situation?

On my day of rest I was catching up with some of the blogs I have started to follow and this is what I found. I think it sounds interesting and that some Mtrix members can consider it. Have a look:
