OOh MG shoo them away...and bad news re your back but ace about the lovely Dr!

Dorastar, we all make mistakes lovey.

Cheery, glad your doing something to make your heart sing.

I've had a gorgeous day. Had a haircut and went to the fishman for mussels and smoked haddock. Hunners of mussels and a great big bit of haddock for £2.49. Also bought some summery shoes from Primarni with some of my clothes budget. Came home and made lunch and then sat out on the decking at the back of the house with my friend for hours with cider and Nigellas Kitchen talking about what we could cook!

Came in and cooked the mussels in cider and had them with a lovely garlicy foccacia. Beautiful!

Second course will be a wee bit of smoked haddock and peas, off to cook it now X

Hi Dorastar - we are all entitled to make mistakes you know ............ and that's all they are, mistakes and human error.

But the fact that your Boss didn't pick up the mistake means that there is a systemic issue that can and should be addessed to make sure it doesn't happen again. Its an opportunity to improve business systems, not a blame game IYSWIM??

In the meantime - loads of positive energy flowing your way to help you negotiate this with grace.

    MG

Thank you all for the positive comments - the reason the boss didn't pick up the mistake is that he really has no understanding of the figures in question and wouldn't have realised today but for the fact I had to tell him before we get hauled over the coals by BIG bosses next week!

Life feels better after a rant, tea at nanas and lots of positive vibes - and the kids do love scooby doo so they will be delighted whatever happens.

Today I've booked myself on a weekend festival of workshops - as a musician :D I do know a couple of people who are going (but they're not scary at all - and none of them will be in my workshop). I'll spend the weekend being taught by a fabulous Swedish musician to play Swedish tunes, for dancing, and in a group :D And I get to see my lovely friend who moved to Belgium and is coming back for the dancing workshops :D

    Woohoo - twas excellent
Here goes - and with piccies too :D

Found it thank you so much

Horrid stuff bailiffs  I am so paranoid about leaving the front door open when I am packing and unpacking the car incase they managed to appear and storm straight in. I really hope that in my next place that worry is not going to be there in the back of my mind ever again. Well done for sending them packing.

Dorastar - everybody has done at least one huge c-up. You spotted it, it can be sorted, lessons learned. (I messed once tax codes for about 100 people so we paid them too little until I noticed the mistake and we had to make extra payments. Everybody were awfully nice about it but I would have liked to be swallowed by the ground)

Busy lot on here today. Thank you all for the positive vibes, I know a few of us seem to be needing them at the moment so I wouldnt ask if I didnt need them, honest gov. I have to say that I think that they are working as I have been very calm and collected this afternoon despite having a monster of an issue sitting on my shoulder at the moment. It appeared this morning and I am not sure when I will sleigh it but one step at a time and a level head will see me through.
Dorastar glad that you feel a bit more settled about your mistake after this afternoon. I agree with the comments, we all make mistakes. I once made a mahoosive mistake that cost rather a lot of money. My manager put it into perspective when he asked me if anybody was likely to die due to the mistake, and then promptly told me to get a life if I thought that I was that important that I could bring the company crashing down. He was a very good boss for putting things into perspective.

Cheery and Lionheartedgirl go for it with the music, it looks like great fun. Soon you will be the ones in the pub group getting everyone on their feet.

Now in matters of hearts singing, tonight I decided that the 15 minutes of dancing needed a rest so I did what I do nearly every day and headed off to the forest at tea time with Moo. The difference being, I took my backpack with sandwiches and a flask of tea, a few dog biscuits and a bowl with water and we trekked to the top of the hill fort where we sat and had a picnic. I am at my happiest I think when it is just me and Moo against the world. He is a good listener and has seen me through some of my biggest challenges. Whilst sitting there looking at the view I thought, this is what makes my heart sing most. We just arrived back and he is now snoring very loudly in the kitchen. Coco is shouting for his cup of tea and all is right with the world.
As part of my musings on the top of the hill fort I have decided that I am going to take myself off to visit my friend this weekend, whilst there I am hoping to see my family too. I hope that you all enjoy the weekend, whether watching the wedding or not. Crickett - I am with you - curious about the dress but otherwise not bothered.

Someone must be sending positivity my way at the moment. I have spent 2 very productive days. Each evening I have been making a list of frogs (not too many) and have been crossing them off as they have been completed during the following day.

I am just compiling my list for tomorrow and have about half a dozen tasks to complete. I actually feel as though I am achieving something at the moment. Exercise wise I have been having a great time running each day for about an hour. I am doing my best to eat sensibly also as eating junk is my downfall.

Had a stroke of luck today. I was visiting my parents when I noticed their neighbour had 2 very old chimney pots sat on their drive. I dont know what made me ask if they were being disposed of but I did. Anyway the neighbours said I was welcome to them. Lets just say they will look wonderful in my garden when Sidneysdad goes to collect them.:T

  • Cheery your course sounds wonderful, have a fantastic time there! and please please put your adventures up on your diary :T

I thought I would chip in with my horrendous work mistake too - made a couple but the real howler that stands out related to payroll for a large factory. 'Twas the week before Christmas, lots of overtime to be paid to the weekly paid staff. Clever me managed to get the payroll system to write "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" in the message box, for the first time in the company's history :T, but sadly I forgot to upload the second half of the spreadsheet with the overtime hours on, into the payroll system ! so no one got their mega overtime payment that they were relying on for Christmas!

So I got a phonecall from one of the line managers to say, thanks for the Merry Xmas message, it was very kind of you but we would have preferred our overtime being paid :rotfl: Cue a frantic call to the bank, and £20k in cash being doled out to the workforce.

As others have said, yes it was my fault, but also there was a major system weakness that this exposed and I was working unsupervised and relatively inexperienced as well, and this was addressed as a result of my error. As above, no-one died and everyone got their money in the end thanks to a very nice big boss - I have known other places say, tough you have to wait. It was a genuine mistake and I was mortified, but everyone was lovely as I was so genuinely and very obviously distraught about what I'd caused!

Dorastar hope it comes good, I'm sure it will and as you say, a bit of time to put things into perspective helps no end.

MG - well done you on those pesky bailiffs. I am expecting a visit any time for ex so I will remember your panto lines!!!

MG - well done on dealing with the bailiffs - and for knowing the law - you can see how they expect to be able to gain entry

Dorastar - hugs, glad you have such a good boss - and I'm glad others were able to show you are not alone in having a hiccup.

Went on a roll yesterday starting to sort out kitchen cupboards and get rid of stuff I never use - which is a good thing and overdue, but I'm beginning to wonder what jobs I am avoiding IYSWIM.

Well I am up - actually I managed to get up using Maryb' tips then my back went into spasm as I stood at the base of the bed.

For some reason I decided that the pain was coming from my head and not my back, so imagined a beam of golden light shining down through the top of my head and relaxing EVERY muscle in my body.

I could literally feel everything softenning from my frown to my feet - and then an overwhelming feeling came over me .............. loo!!! quick !!!!!:rotfl: Maybe I imagined a bit too much :o

Well its the day of the Weddig - and my invite still hasn't arrived :rotfl: so I guess we will turn the TV on about 11ish to have a watch and show the kids London in the sun (DS1 was born there - not deliberately, but still)

Which reminds me - has anybody had their voting cards yet??

Pretty gardening day today - but I think we will be restricted to some light watering this evening - or at least DS1 doing the watering and me supervising.

    Frogs for the day

    1. Shower and get dressed (amazing how the Frogs become re-evaluated when you are not so mobile)

    2. Water the seedlings

    3. Edit an article for a friends Blog - need to get it down to about 500 - 600 words.

Its only a few days before I start working with the Mentors again so I would also like to take some time to create a framework / set of groundrules for how we work together now.

They have been suprisingly good at accepting that the way were working before perhaps wasn't approporiate - I think a lot of earbending by a lot of wives has been going on, but the simple upshot is.

They have worked in the past solely with Guys - those guys were either single or married with wives / support networks in place and so didn't have to deal with all the "keeping the home together and being there for kids" stuff.

I am female, on my own and am responsible for everything - and as everyone knows "doing it all" and doing too much is a recipe for burnout - which does not benefit the kids, me or the mentors.

So I need to write a new set of rules of engagement - a new model of work for 2011, how you can do a little bit of everything and still kiss your kids whn they scrape a knee.

Should be, ahem!!! interesting this time around - because things that are of upmost importance to me - don't even feature in many of the mentors working model at all.

    Mars and Venus - Eh???

Right, first Froggie thing - shower and dressed

MG, good luck with the Frogs. For me today will be a day of rest and some light planning/writing. I have to make up with LB; had a big argument yesterday again. In fact not even an argument but I got really upset with his behaviour. So going to a big part is probably in order today.
