LOL! I used to have a motorbike but LOVE F1. My 50th birthday present from DH and DD#1 was a Red Letter day at a Ferrari drive. Seriously cool!
ETA Red flag (again) so having a quick check on here. DH has no interest in this but will be watching James May and his little trains later!
ooh nice work :T I used to race bikes, but had to stop when I bought my ex hubs out of our house, but am hoping to start racing again next yearI'm not very fast and was generally adding glamour to the back of the grid but if there was a prize for the biggest grin in the helmet, I would have won that! :rotfl: My dog was faster round corners than I was
(if you ever saw the Top Gear where they raced an MX5 against a champion greyhound called Monica, this will give you an idea of how amazing they are!)
I have only done one soaking wet race but it wasn't far off what's going on in Canada now, goodness me, those poor guys!
re James May - never used to be a massive fan but then realised he is also a very competent musician and used to present a TV programme we used to watch in our music classes at school. I still don't get some of the stuff he is into though!0 -
CM - Sorry to hear about what you went through with your Mum. I too have been doing some research about Dignitas for my daughter (and myself) but it seems you have to be terminally ill for them to accept you. Obviously a lifetime of pain is acceptable then.
Oh Tenmah I really don't know what to say but just wanted to send you a very inadequate hug.
CM - sorry to hear what you had to go through but for what it's worth I am a supporter of Dignitas and the service they provide. I just think it's a shame that people have to travel so far in order to achieve their aim. Just my two penneth worthxx

I am such a petrol head (when I get the chance). My dad was amateur rally driver and I used to get taken to school in his rally car (no back seats and 2 children eek! all manner of spiders used to lurk at the back <shudder>). I love the smell of engines and the noise (I blame growing up next to garage when I was a kid
Took DS to a hill climb last year and because my dad was there (in a working capacity) he knew a couple of the competitors so DS got the chance to sit in a one of the racing cars :T Sadly getting chance to sit and watch the F1 these days is a rarity although I did see some of the MotoGP earlier. I wouldn't want to race bikes in THAT sort of rain :eek:
I love Captain Slow :rotfl:
OK I've wittered on enough I think
Practiced my chocolate visualisation this morning in shower. Made myself retch againStill if it has the desired effect then that's it. I haven't picked much today, not quite doing the mindful eating I really need but at least I am not eating for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales :rotfl: Did make some cinnamon buns this morning but I have frozen some of them so I don't end up eating them all over a few days
Haven't done any exercise though. I think tomorrow I will set the alarm for half an hour earlier than "usual" wake up time and try and get myself into Shred. Am dreading it though because it's sooooooo hard

DS1 and DS2 tucked up in bed - DS1 managed to wangle a sneaky game of scrabble into the evening (I suppose it can be regarded as Home Education:D)
He then helped me upload some pictures into the blog - including a picture of his great big empty plate after he had finished dinner :rotfl:. I think the salmon was a hit.
He is doing great creating his vision bard - and I have promised t help him hang it up in his room tomorrow - so I had better go and find some small tacks and a hammer for first thing.
Does anyone have the capability to transfer old fashionned casette tapes into a digtal format? - have some old personal development stuff that would be great if I could get it onto my MP3.
Oops - crying baby, gotta go.

Tenmah, I have no suggestions but I do hope that your DD feels better this evening. With regards to Digitas for you and CM. How awful that you both have had to consider this option and added to that had the difficulties of making those decision made even greater due to red tape. This is a topic that I have to admit to being completely confused by. I do believe that an individual should have the right to choose how they wish to die. I just find the whole legal side of it so utterly treacherous and can understand the need to protect particularly vulnerable individuals but I am sure that these things should be worked out rather than blanket NO decisions. I only hope that you both had support for yourselves whilst supporting your loved ones.
All the talk of petrol heads has me smiling. I know nothing about cars or bikes but I do like to go fast. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
What Cheri said for Tenmah and Clootie.
MG I love the blog and definetely would love recipes, especially for that lush looking lentil thing. I want some!
Ate well most of the week but will confess to a lunchtime pizza on Thursday and rather a lot of cider! Last night I chanelled EH and had home made takeaway with sauce from the chinese supermarket, prawns and veggies. Had similar tonight but with smartprice sweet and sour sauce and chicken and veg instead, both stirfried.
Taking my sis out tomorrow for her bday dinner. Going to a lovely place with chandeliers and all but got it on a deal, of course!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

The Right to Die Debate is one which rightfuly stirs up strong feelings. My personal view is if we can give an animal a dignified death without having to continue when it is in pain, doesn't want to live and has just given up, then we ought to be able to do this for humans as well.
Some of you may have heard of a comedian called Jim Sweeney - he is a world-reknowned improviser, long-standing member of the Comedy Store Players, used to be a regular on Whose Line Is It Anyway, and is widely regarded as one of the finest improvisers there has been. I was lucky to watch Jim work regularly with the Players in the 90's. Jim can no longer work on stage though which is a crying shame - he was diagnosed with MS in 1990 and has had to live with his body gradually pulling onto the hard shoulder and refusing to carry on ever since. This and This may make interesting reading - and may bring a lump to the throat but try to convert it to a laugh instead, Jim prefers that as a rule! He writes exactly as I remember him speaking - with humour, bluntness and irreverance. He knows exactly how he wants things to end and with all the current debate over the possible prevention of people travelling to Dignitas to end their lives at a time of their own choosing I do wonder exactly how he's feeling right now. He's a very special person.
Glad MG & rtandon had good birthdays - MG your cake looked scrummy!
Food over the weekend has been...reasonable I'd say. Plenty of fruit and veg, a few treats thrown in. Pizza last night but it was a HM one (and delicious!) MrEH has also agreed to help me with some exercise (no! Not like that you smutty lot!) and he's a hard taskmaster so there will be no getting away with not doing it!:o Lunch today was salmon with roasted veggies (sweet potatoes, turnips (from the garden!) and courgette) and salad, and tea tonight was cheese and crackers with smoked salmon pate brought back from holiday.Had a packet of crisps with mine too! Followed it up with rice pudding with stewed apple - a smaller portion than I would usually have. Already have my meal plan sorted for the first half of the week so all good there.

Morning ladies - its baltic up here. Drizzly and grey - like an Autumn morning. Think my breakfast will have to be something more "comforting" than I had planned.
Had to laugh at all you Petrol Heads - when I lives in London I had a bike to commute and it was brilliant. I was gutted when gt pregnanat and discovered you couldn't get a baby seat on the back:D
Mind you I am fairly tall - and in all the leather and kevlar I looked more "Terminator" than "Cat-woman" :rotfl::rotfl:
Today's Frog - well Monday is designated "Career" day in my wheel of life, so some serious thinking and organising - and the raising of a teeny wee invoice which always makes me happy. If I get stuck I will holler for help on the other side.
Loads of peeps asking about my "Wheel of Life" - so I will do a specal tutorial post on Tuesday (personal Development Day)which should make it much clearer.
Been playing around - and I think I can create a recipe book in Word that I can save as PDF's so that they can come out to anyone who wants - but I am thnking of running them Wednesday to Wednesday so that people can recive them and then create their weekend shopping list easily IYSWIM?
So spread the world to all your mates - recipe books available to those who's info I have on the blog - that's the fairest way I think to cluster the people who are interested. My mate who does SW says they are SW Green compliant (mostly) and has been cooking along a day behind me.
BTW two days in I have 32 subscribers - is that good? What target should we set for the end of the month? Can you tell I am not really sure how fast these things go or how to start making contact with people who this might help. I know that FB and twitter can but I am not au fait with either so will look today at setting a few days aside to get them off and rolling too.
And most importantly - although I have gone back through the past threads and picked out stuff we have covered or been interested in. does anyone have a burning desire that they would love some help with. Is there something you would love to learn, do, experience that we can help with? Now with the bloggie blog we will have space to fully explore stuff without stepping on toes.
Brrrr!!! Need that second cup of coffee soon. Even the cat is on my lap getting cosy............. and I think I hear little people stirring.
Back soon

Well done on the blog MG it looks great. As for subscribers, I don't know how fast the take up should be but I'm sure things will pick up pretty fast! I too have subscribed, but so far have not received any email updates, is there anyway to check the subscription thing is working properly? You don't want to lose out on any subscribers!
I left a comment under the weight lost post, and was really shocked when I realised I could lose 3 stone and still be within my 'healthy' bmi, that's a quarter of my body weight I could potentially afford to loseI think I need to find a way to fit more exercise into my day. One for me to ponder.
MG, thanks for the 3 things on my to do list tip, has really taken then pressure off and feels much more manageable.
Hope you have a good Monday all.0
