  • crickett that is FANTASTIC news that CIPFA have received your months of work! :T

emsky* I second what TMIF says - I went on some revision courses to help me with some of my courses, but they were basically supervised question practice and going through our answers afterwards.

This forces you to sit down, order your thoughts in the available time and get used to the exam conditions - not a bad idea to try some on your weaker syllabus areas too, as you get an idea of what you are capable off if you get one of those questions you were hoping would never come up. Often you can pick up marks easier than you think, so it's good to know this in advance :)

Indirect tax  brings me out in a cold shiver now. Good luck! xx

  • second post already of today - re. MG's post about what would we like to learn about - got me thinking about all the people on here who have their own blogs.

I would really like to set my own up but am not sure of where on earth to start. I wanted a website, but really my blog would form such a large part of this, I wonder if I can do everything I need as a blog with a couple of other bits too. It would be partly to build a professional presence, but also for my own creative outlet too.

Sounds like the other side may be a better area to ask this but I don't have access, so can anyone help with this if appropriate?

    many thanks :)
  • Hi lionheartedgirl - you need to pm MrF here on MSE. He will arrange access to t'other side for you.

MG, thoughts for your blog that spring to mind are your management tips for moving things forward eg 3 steps to move your life forward; 3 things on a to-do list. Really love the wheel of life idea and learning more of this - it seems more and more of us are moving towards a patchwork and simpler style of living.

MG, if you don't mind, I am going to shamelessly steal your idea of your Circle of Life split into 7 themes. I love that idea, and want to think about how it could work in my own life.

    :D

This made me hoot!!! - but only cos my sense of hunour is so warped. Its called the "wheel of life" - and it's not my idea, it's actually a very old Buddhist principle that I first learned from one of the mates of the Priest and the Rabbi.

I came across it next on a Mindstore course - but lots of Personal Development peeps use it.

................... but as I now have Elton John singing in my head "it's the ciiiiiiiiiirrrrcle - the circle of life" I think I am gong to re-name tomorrows post that in your honour :rotfl:

Well done on getting the working from home sorted BTW. Will be thinking of you rattling through your stuff tomorrow.

Help............... it would appear that my yahoo account has been stolen by somebody to send out some rather unfortunate and embarrassing emails. Does anybody know how I can report this?

Lionhearted girl. If you have a look at blogger.com you can set up a free blog and there are tutorials etc to help. I would try that first and see how you go. If you check peoples homepages quite a few people have blogs and it might be worth a bit of research looking at the different ones to see what you like. I know that FW an MGs sites are wordpress and I believe there are fees for those but I might be wrong. I would definitely start with blogger first as a practice run. There are lots of people making business out of their blogger accounts so it must work.

Crickett that is indeed ace news - well done all over again! :T

MG re your blog, why not just initially do it for fun, enjoyment? No targets, no goals or aims, no making it part of a business plan, just you, writing and enjoying it, and sharing information and fun stuff with others? Otherwise when you are updating it at the weekend and during the evening it becomes just another item of "work" encroaching on time that you have set aside to spend as a family with your boys. It may well be that in the long term it can evolve to become part of a patchwork living providing income, but if you're going to do that then I think you need to consider using it as a website and writing targetted articles on a less regular basis, rather than a blog which, with the best will in the word, most people see as a personal, rather than a business thing? I'll probably not subscribe but you can rest assured that I will be reading regularly.

Hectic day here today - I may once again need anti-homicide vibes later on! I have however used my lunch break (which no-one can pressure me not to have a la my old job as I don't charge for this hour!) productively to write my list for tomorrow, and catch up on here! :D

Well done to everyone doing well with their food - Crickett you really sound like you enjoyed your lunch so it was a lovely meal as well as being healthy - brilliant! Mine was tasty but slightly less interesting - a sesame bagel with pate and four bits of fruit - satsuma, nectarine, kiwi and apple. Dinner tonight will be a stir fry, mostly veg with just a tiny bit of chinese bacon and some oyster sauce, served with noodles. Will probably have fruit for afters as we have a fresh pineapple in the fridge! Unless MrEH and I get out for a walk after tea my exercise will be limited today but I will try to catch up tomorrow and I'm going to try to get into the habit of switching the pedometer on my phone on daily as well.

Wooohooo!!! Windy up here ............... and so cold that i actually wore my winter coat to playtime in the park today.

Had a great coaching call whilst I was out (forward planning, keep kids occupied at the park whilst Mum is on the phone with the Mentor) all about "comfort blankets" and building your tribe (tres American - non?)

Had contact from a Swedish newspaper today who are after a specifc article - and the journalist steered them towards the blog to give them an idea of my writing style ................ and they are taking the short articles into a meeting on Thursday to decide if they are going to feature the blog after I do my bit for them.

    Great, great news.

I've also been contacted by and American company I did speaking work for in the past asking me to some writing for them - so it seems the Universe is sending me some lovely possibilities.

Keeping on with my baby steps.

First - shower the boys and rustle up a nice dinner.
