Hi, everyone. I’ve not been around much for a few days, too busy thinking.

Over the last week, I’ve accepted that a dream will not materialise.
I’ve never really taken on board ‘The Secret’ and that sort of approach but I do agree that a positive attitude helps to achieve things. So I began to write it out in the present tense. “DH agrees we should fulfil my dream to .... and it is happening.” I had a LBM.

Maybe I don’t want that as much as I thought. Then I started catching up and found :

Fantasia said : ‘just made me realise that I need to let go of all the excess baggage, . . . People and things are who and what they are. My letting go of the past has to do solely with me and nothing and no one else.’ And she talked about ‘Life and its Simple Pleasures ‘

Souk said : ‘We just need to know what's worth sacrificing for us and what isn't.’

Crickett seemed to be writing just for me. ‘I have decided to forget the one woman pity party and get on with things.’ Thank you – I needed that!

And then Fantasia capped it with saying to Kittikins ‘dont lurk, join in, I swear you will glean so much more from joining in, rather than just reading what others are doing.’

The discussions also covered Tai chi, people taking huge bites at life and changing directions!

OK. You seem to have kicked me in up the rear whether you knew it or not. So, here I am, still thinking about the future and what is realistic for me.

First is health. I am going to call someone tomorrow about Tai Chi which, I hope, will help with balance problems and osteo-arthritis. I think some of my ‘black dog’ has been because my doctor just wants to up the pain killers and asks what do I expect at my age.

I’m another who needs to slim down as the extra weight is obviously bad for my legs. I do NOT want to ‘go on a diet’ and I already eat fairly healthily. I know that bread, cheese and wine are my downfalls. I never eat chocolate, cakes or biscuits. I think portion control is going to be the answer for me.

Then I need to supplement my income. I do not want to cut back any further, this is non-negotiable. So, I’ve worked out what I need to earn and will do some pondering. I am thinking in terms of Cheery’s patchwork income but will need to ‘think on’ as they say round here.

I’m sure I will have missed some folk out but here are a few responses.
Parsniphead wrote (and not before time) : I just popped on to say hi and let you know that I did some de-cluttering of the belly (after three days of on/off labour and an emergency C Section). Charlie_Joe - 7lb 10ozs.
    Welcome Charlie Joe! :T:T

Fantasia : Well done on the no smoking – I’m nearly up to 6 months now!

Sunflower: Well done on leaving the job. Isn’t it a liberating experience?

Lion Heart: So sorry. I had to take my elderly dog last October. DH was in Cuba at the time. It is the last act of love we do for them – but so, so hard.

Gemmzie : It is not a failure to postpone the exam. It is taking control of your life and wellbeing.

MG : I like the idea of 3 things only on the list. Love the blog!

You are right that, even if DS1 stays on after the age of 18, the relationship has to change so he can move into adulthood.

Shalva wrote : ‘Later this month Bob Dylan is coming to Israel and I will be taking my 19 year old ds with me for what I’m sure will be a once in a lifetime experience..... ‘
Sounds great. I do like once in a lifetime experiences. I went to see Meat Loaf with my younger DD a few years ago.

    And finally :
“When you cannot make up your mind between two evenly balanced courses of action, choose the bolder”. WJ Slim

CM - Sorry to hear about what you went through with your Mum. I too have been doing some research about Dignitas for my daughter (and myself) but it seems you have to be terminally ill for them to accept you. Obviously a lifetime of pain is acceptable then.

    Evening ladies

Just setting the table for Sunday night Dinner - I try to make a special effort on a Sunday with a nice table and something extra yummy.

Our salmon is steeping and the lentils have been stirred into their lemony/herby dressing and the smell is heavenly.

Two out of three have been bathed - so by the time I have played "rubber duckies" with the wee one dinner should be ready to dish up.

Love these lighter Summer meals - but part of me looks forward to the roast and all the trimmings of a winter menu.

Will pootle on over the other side soon - and take a photie of my dinner when its done and pop it on the blog ............. it had better look as good as it smells :D

thanks everyone :) I have seen two beautiful boys (canine :rotfl:) on my local RGT homing centre's website, and they look just lovely. will see if they are still there when I am back from Italy and think on. If I miss them then there will be many others.

thanks for the poem cherisong - yes we first chatted about large dogs and daft adventures when i was under my old username :D there are so many questionable poems out there :rotfl: about dogs but occasionally we find one that resonates - the one for me was about greyhounds needing deep chests for their big hearts :) I hope he will be safe at Rainbow Bridge and there will be granary bread, pizza crusts and porridge for him to eat :)

on the other note (boom boom!) the harp is used a lot in musical therapy. I'm glad it's not just me that thinks they sound a bit magical, clearly I am very biased  Apparently in ancient Scottish armies, the harper (although nowadays we are referred to as harpists) was a protected being who was said to have mystical properties as he was there to keep up the spirits of the warriors, and neither side would attack him. I'm not sure how true it is. I am very classically trained but am learning more and more about the harp in its traditional setting, and in particular would like to learn more about how it is used in traditional story telling. So many things to learn and so little time! :)

thoughts to all those who are helping those who are in serious pain, it is heart breaking to hear of this :( something many of us take for granted is our good health.

Rain rain and more rain today and got soaked four times just getting in, out, in, out of car to go to church and dancing show.
Dancing was ok - but our friends daughter was only in 4 dances out of 20+ so it was a bit dull, not helped by ds nodding off in the second half and snoring like an old man.

Is now so dark and cold we have lights and heating on - and fleeces - is more like November than June.

Struggling to get motivated in this dismal weather - anyone else feel like this today?

LOL! I used to have a motorbike but LOVE F1. My 50th birthday present from DH and DD#1 was a Red Letter day at a Ferrari drive. Seriously cool!

ETA Red flag (again) so having a quick check on here. DH has no interest in this but will be watching James May and his little trains later!
