I should be studying but sneaked here. So much I could/should say but nothing really to add to the words of wisdom of others. Just want to add to all the commiserations and congratulations. And also sending positive vibes to all those needing them. (I wouldn't mind getting some when I am sitting my Financial Management exam tomorrow from 10am to 1 pm - the working capital is not too bad but the share stuff is going a bit over the head :o)

So I have 2h 36 minutes of question practise left before I need to pick up DD. More tea...

My Financial Management exam was consolidated group accounts, ratio analysis and pension fund valuations.

Hehe, I'd rather do shares :D

    WC is nice too

And remember - you only need 50%! I remember our tutor telling us that more than 50% was wasted effort (unless you are one of those bizarre types that want prizes!)

I was never more happy than the day the email arrived - PX 51% Pass. Whooop!

And that's you Marru - in a few weeks. Big celebratory cakes (or muesli bars are if you healthy eating) for when you pass xxx

OK, so I'm back. Potential new boss's face lit up when I mentioned the Facebook group. By the time I got home she had added me as a friend (damn all those drunken photos!). It all seemed to go OK despite the disasters beforehand, but if I've got it, it's definitely due to my innovative use of social networks! :D

    Great Stuff Sunflower :)

EE thanks for the sewing tips :) I bought this pattern in the week to see if I can make the bags, http://romanianquiltstudio.com/english/bag-patterns.htm , Got some interfacing here I bought the other day, plus a nice peice of pink and which gingham material and plain pink material, could make it girly with a hello kitty patch.

MG your good with sewing etc, you could draft up patterns like that and sell them :)

    I like those bags Claire!!!

Did you untangle your sewing machine? I broke 3 needles on the first bag I made, because the fake leather was slipping and sticking. Solved with a teflon foot (but you can stick plumber's tape (the white stuff) under the floor instead).

Have you seen this site - loads of freebie patterns (for future ref!)

this blog is from the queen of bag making - there are freebies on the right hand side:

Yes I have untangled the machine :) and finished the bag, just need to bling it up now :)

Got another bag nearly finished apart from the handles.

OOHH another blog to drool over :) and more ideas. will have a look in a bit, just going to sort out the material into the drawers I bough earlier (went to B&M and they had 4 draw tiers bigger than Argos for £2 extra, So my mate bough the Argos voucher off me and I got that instead.)

Claire - What Cheery said about machines - get a thicker needle (normally shops sell selection packs of needles and a good shop will tell you the weight for denim), your machine will be mainly OK as long as you go slow and it doesn't sound like it is straining. If the needle doesn't hit anything solid in the layers and the feed dog works OK (the bit that moves the material), as long as the needle clears the fabric and you don't have to force it through too much, you should get away with it.

I also think it would be worth asking the local charity shops to check if they get older sewing machines donated. Look for singer or any that are metal. They will be too heavy to lift but once set up they are grand. My friend has her late MIL machine and it is one specifically made for sailmaking, so if you are near the sea and see a machine made by READ, rub your hands with glee :)

[oops - posted all this before I got to the last page]

Greenbee - What about mindfulness for your stress - I have a great book called 'The mindful way through depression and chronic unhappiness'. It's not a snappy happy title, but it does explain the 3 minute breathing space and the body scan (great for insomnia) and the CD is voiced by Jon Kabat Zin!! I'm sure one of the other MSE people who set herself up as a cleaning business was from your part of the world ... I'll see what I can find ... And hot water bottles are great - I have a microwave bear and a horse (both from the charity shop ;) ), saves the burn potential from the kettle!

Cricket - A colleague of mine has a OH who is very high up in Forensic Accounting - I am going to an AGM with her next weekend and if I can ask any questions just let me know.

Yeah for Sunflower ... now get them drunken photos of FB now!

Oh, I did the same. I bought my first one, and then someone showed me the blogs. In my favourites now - I won't pay again :D

Bitsy did a nice messenger bag - but I can't remember where she got the pattern from x
